Pawley's Island has some very nice courses worth consideration as well. Willbrook Plantation comes to mind and is always kept in great shape!

Yes it does, and @BKervin also can fill us in since she's down there a lot. I have played Founders Club and Legends-Heathland down there. Haven't had the nerve to tackle True Blue or Caledonia yet.

Debatable on that better beer part! But as a man of science and someone constantly in search of the truth, I'm willing to sacrifice my body for the good of the forum to determine just who has the better beer. No need to thank me, the thrill of knowledge seeking and truth learning is more then enough reward for me.

We stay on 9 on True Blue January 1 - May 31.  We golfed 48x this year in that time frame.  Let me know if you need anything scoped out!

True Blue and Calendonia are both beautiful courses. I've played both.

Is it still 2024?  Check.

Are we already planning the 2025 Outing?  Check.

Is there going to be a SECOND 2025 Outing?  Very possibly check.

How's that for a teaser? 😉

Alright! So after an INCREDIBLY successful 2024 outing at Kingsmill (thanks to @GolfSpy AFG and @Golfspy_CG2 for organizing the HELL out of that event!), we're already looking to next year for another incredible outing.

Here's what we know so far, and we'll add to this as we get closer to the actual date, but we wanted to start stirring up some excitement early on and gauging of some interest.  DON'T WORRY! We're not asking for deposits, or interest, or anything at this point - we're simply putting the information out there so that you can start to plan as early as you want/can.

MGS SPRING OUTING 2025:

Where?  Myrtle Beach, baby!

When?  May of 2025 (exact dates still to be determined)

Why? To be honest, because of YOU, dear readers.  After MANY years of fielding requests/suggestions/demands (you know who you are) for us to host the event in "The Golf Capital of the World", you've finally worn us down. 😉

Details are still in the planning stages, but we have some INCREDIBLE courses to choose from, and we're busy at work finding the best deal for the most amount of people.  Feel free to chime in here with "must plays" that you're familiar with, though the Outing Committee will have final say on any/all courses lined up to play.

image.png

giphy.gif

(No, that's not me...I WISH I had that kind of residual payment...)

MGS SPRING OUTING 2025:

We've been playing this fairly close to the chest/vest (whichever idiom you prefer is correct in this instance), but we're about 90% that we'll be hosting a SECOND outing, sometime in September/October of next year.  The details are still being worked out, but we know that May (or the Myrtle area in this case) isn't always ideal for everyone, and there are enough of you that have pondered the idea of a second outing (as well as those of us who want to do two meet-ups per year) that we're going to try to make this work.

So...what do you all think?  Excited?  Not so much?  Let us know below!  I'll for sure be at at least one of them - the goal is both, but ... the family may have a say in that, lol.

Can't wait to tee it up with as many of you as possible!

Matt (and the rest of the Forum Staff)

Colorado might be a good option for the second outing. Northern Colorado has some great courses. https://thegroupinc.com/our-communities/golf-courses-in-noco/

Denver Airport is just an hour away. Just some food for thought.

I could play golf every day and learn something new each time.

Could Hot Springs Village be a fall option? Lots of courses and lodging and plenty of shopping for any wives that join

I grew up 50ish miles south of HSV but have never actually set foot in it, golfing or otherwise. I hear the courses are good, and plenty to do in Hot Springs while we're on the course.

I've been thru there many many times but haven't played the courses either.. Think it would be perfect for a retreat of a large size..with magic springs, downtown shopping, casino, horse racing, and spa after spa it's kinda something for everyone..And of course plenty of golf!👍

Going to throw this in here as well since it is still years away but we are doing a 2028 Scotland trip - It is several marker years for the Forum staff and many of us have never been.

Dates and all of that still not close to being determined, but it will happen so if that is something you may be interested in then start saving now.

@ILMgolfnut knows this, but I'll be there next year - why not just plan for a 2nd in 2028 as well!

As far as True Blue & Caledonia, I'm planning a buddies trip there next April - they've been a pleasure to work with and I'm very much looking forward to knocking off two more Stranz courses!
