Popular Post GaryF
Someone in my wife’s golf group sent this to her. Supposedly an actual concern sent to a Facebook tech support : (concerned that maybe @Dead Solid Bogey ruler may have sent the inquiry) The young woman who submitted the tech support message below (about her relationship to her husband) presumably did it as a joke. Then she got a reply that was way too good to keep to herself. The tech support people's love advice was hilarious and genius! The query: Dear Tech Support, Last year I upgraded from Boyfriend 5.0 to Husband 1.0 and noticed a distinct slowdown in overall system performance, particularly in the flower and jewelry applications, which operated flawlessly under Boyfriend 5.0. In addition, Husband 1.0 uninstalled many other valuable programs, such as Romance 9.5 and Personal Attention 6.5, and then installed undesirable programs such as: NBA 5.0, NFL 3.0 and Golf Clubs 4.1. Conversation 8.0 no longer runs, and House cleaning 2.6 simply crashes the system. Please note that I have tried running Nagging 5.3 to fix these problems, but to no avail. What can I do? Signed: Desperate The response (that came weeks later out of the blue)… Dear Desperate, First keep in mind, Boyfriend 5.0 is an Entertainment Package, while Husband 1.0 is an Operating System. Please enter command: I thought you loved me.html and try to download Tears 6.2. Do not forget to install the Guilt 3.0 update. If that application works as designed, Husband 1.0 should then automatically run the applications Jewelry 2.0 and Flowers 3.5. However, remember, overuse of the Tears application can cause Husband 1.0 to default to Grumpy Silence 2.5, Happy Hour 7.0, or Beer 6.1. Please note that Beer 6.1 is a very bad program that will download Snoring Loudly Beta version. Whatever you do, DO NOT, under any circumstances, install Mother-In-Law 1.0 as it runs a virus in the background that will eventually seize control of all your system resources. In addition, please do not attempt to re-install the Boyfriend 5.0 program. These are unsupported applications and will crash Husband 1.0. In summary, Husband 1.0 is a great program, but it does have limited memory and cannot learn new applications quickly. You might consider buying additional software to improve memory and performance. Popular Post Jmikecpa
So I went back and forth about posting this but in the end thought it was relevant. Went out on Thursday night for a few drinks with my wife and the two lads next to me at the bar were fitters for a well known OEM. They were on Long Island doing demo days and I struck up a conversation. It was immediately clear to me that neither had a clue about fitting when they said they just look at the numbers and move on. However; the statement that concerned me was that they get bonus money on the product they can sell and they both confirmed all they cared about was how someone hit it at a demo day and couldn’t care less if they could actually play the clubs after that. That was a bit concerning to me and also confirmed why I will never get fit at a demo day. William P, Northern Monkey, sirchunksalot and 8 others 2 7 2 Quote WITB 2024 Driver: Qi10 LS 9* Ltd. Not totally surprising .. they are Reps for that one OEM (could you call them outside sales?), and it makes sense they'd receive an incentive for equipment purchases subsequent to a demo day. Rob Person
I equate demo days to any other sales business. They are there to sell products. Anyone who has worked in the sales field knows how frustrating it is to go through all the "pitches and benefits" just to have them be told " I will think about it " Alot of these have switched to being called "Fitting Events " instead of "Demo days" not sure if this is to stave off the looky-loo's and draw in the serious buyers sirchunksalot, FallenSaber, TJ Hall and 4 others 7 Quote WITB-Foremost 551's - 3w, 5w, 5-SW (circa 1998), Top Flite 460cc Driver, Adam's 7w, Warrior GW and 60⁰, Odyssey AI-One DB putter. But it's useful if the golfer's intention is to check out offerings from that one brand. My club has year round fitting days for several oems. They are by appointment only and limited to 30 minutes, so it’s only time to get familiar with one category of club. Before I paid for a thorough fitting by a private fitter, I did the 30 min with ping, pxg Callaway, and TM only for irons. They all had me try different club head versions and multiple shafts. All very professional. In fact, the pxg guy comes here once a month and told me to come back because he couldn’t narrow my specs, so I did a second session with him. All of them sent me a link for the trackman data. Regardless of the rep’s intentions, exhibiting the behaviour previously mentioned is just immaturity, and more pervasive than what people would hope exists. What all of the reps know is that golfers are a category of people that are easily infatuated. No disrespect and not meant as criticism, but that’s apparent reading a number of these threads. Just the way it is for those passionate about something. sirchunksalot
I got caught in traffic the other day heading home from work as there was a backup on I-75 North. I decided to take the back way through Ooltewah where I would normally take the exit ramp labeled in red. The ramp labeled in blue is where cars coming the other way exit on to the interstate to go Northbound. There were freaking cars coming up that ramp to try to avoid traffic and nearly caused an accident to those who were getting off to head to the plant. I wish there would have been a trooper there to nab these idjits. Rob Person, cksurfdude, Northern Monkey and 3 others
fixyurdivot
The left hinge on my <2 year old Dell Inspiron broke the other day... while simply opening the lid . So starts the process of "what to do"? A quick search reveals that many of the mid-level (even some higher end) laptops have... wait for it... HINGE PROBLEMS. With no internal metal frame, the metal butterfly hinges are attached to plastic. Costs for repair would easily run more than half the cost of new. Yup, we're definitely a "throw-away" society. After perusing the internet, looking for suggested make/models with durable hinges, not much is available unless you want to spend $800+. Oh, and guess what... none of the extended warranties offered cover hinges... gee, I wonder why . So, I decided on another Dell purchased thru Dell since they offer a veteran discount. I don't think I was particularly hard on opening/closing the cover but will be even more ginger on the new one. One article did say that it's important to lift from the center vs. the edges. That's my rant for the day... thanks for listening . BallsLeon
Ventured down to Tulsa, OK over the weekend to ride some mountain bikes with my wife and uncle-in-law (Mike). We have various mountain bike trails around KC, but they are mostly maintained by volunteers and spread out all throughout the city. In comparison, Tulsa knocks it out of the park they have a big central hub with professionally built/maintained trails. They also have a great bike-path/walking trail up and down the river so it was super easy to bike to the trails. Reminds me a little bit of what they've done in Betonville, AR which is now the (self-proclaimed) "Mountain Bike Capital of the World" after the Walton family started pumping money into trail building. Was a great venue to shake off the cobwebs/rust, and get back on the bike for the season. Mike is nearly twice my age, but he is a total beast on the bike and spent Saturday following him around the trails until my legs called it quits lol. Managed to get back out on Sunday for an easier ride before we drove home. Didn't realize how much I had been missing mountain biking, and what it does for my mental health as well. You have no choice but to be completely present in the current moment, something I could borrow for my golf game. rkj427
Went to Meadowbrook Theater at Oakland University in Rochester, MI last night to see a musical play, Route 66. They also had a "Classic Car" night, so if you took a classic car and parked in the display area of the lot, you were able to get 2 admission tickets for the price of one. Link to the 20 total pictures below. but also put some of them in this post for all to see. https://photos.app.goo.gl/zSsZvSMUwQ5NTjwGA Parking lot & vehicles prior to the show starting.........................................
