Dead Solid Bogey
2 hours ago, cksurfdude said: Good Morning golf friends! Another bright, clear and sunny day here - and no I won't get tired of saying that, as it seemed like weeks non-stop of dull grey rainy skies.... So curious if anyone can actually guess (without Googling or peeking in the lower right corner) the answer to this real life Caddy Shack moment... What I'm curious about is *when* do they start the stop watch; I mean who determines that the ball is truly "at rest"? ..and more importantly how does a ball at rest then spontaneously overcome its own inertia and physically start to move again?? ..is it due to a lucky breeze, is it due to blades of grass settling down on the front side of the ball forming a little ramp for it to roll down? ..or perhaps was the ball resting on the Eastern side of the cup so that the Earth's rotation induced a movement in the opposite direction and into the cup??? Guys do you see the kinda stuff that runs through my mind - and now you expect me to be able to play golf!!??!!! It helps to have playing partners that weigh in excess of 400 lbs. walk, sklp and hop around the cup. Popular Post Wib081
Good morning all, So did a fast for blood test last night into today finally got some coffee in the system and today is working me over pretty good right now. Although it is warming up and the sun is out. If this keeps up might be looking at a half day on Friday for some outdoor therapy. It is hump day has been the mantra of the day this far. No after school activities for my boys today so maybe we go browse the preowned left handed section for the 14 y/o. 12 y/o gets to use my old stuff so he’s set. The article doesn't really do a deep dive into bounce, leading edge etc, which in my opinion is a non starter. If you buy a bounce that works best on hard, firm turf, what the heck happens if it rains for a week??? Do you have another wedge at 250$ canadian just for those days? so all of a sudden you have 6-50 degree wedges, one for every type of turf surface.. Good marketing ploy in my opinion. At my level I have to learn to adjust to turf conditions with the wedges I have, for example, the provincial seniors is in Revelstoke BC which is in Rocky Mountains so do I have to change wedges for that turf type? And the Nationals is in Central Ontario, do I need to buy a wedge or wedges for that area? No, when I get on sight I spend as much time as need be on the practice area and learn how it adjust if needed. Wedges are probably the area of clubs that I know the least about but know enough to be dangerous Pros have access to whatever club they need to put in the bag for the conditions they are playing. Like you said as casual or even a competitive golf like yourself having multiple configurations of expensive wedges is tough to do and it is better to just figure out what you need to do. distance and finesse wedges is probably the weakest area of my game and personally I don't think that a specific grind or bound will make a huge difference for my play. Currently it is work on technique and use a good general grind wedge with some bounce. I've been watching videos from short game specialists like James Ridyard, Parker McLachlin, Joe Mayo, and Dan Grieve and truly believe technique is more critical than wedge configuration. For example, if you are steep with with your attack angle (Joe Mayo) and lean the shaft forward 10* a 10* bounce wedge you are delivering no bounce. In wet lies, there are multiple techniques that you can use to play the shot. Technique trumps finding the perfect bounce/grind for the conditions of play. Jim, you are correct, the overview on wedge lofts is a good one. https://mygolfspy.com/news-opinion/how-to-choose-the-right-wedge-lofts/ Getting fit for wedges is most helpful to ensure that you get ones that work best for you. To help guide you with respect to bounce and grind options for your wedges, ask yourself are you steep or shallow on your delivery, do you pick the ball clean with little to no divot or do you take large divots. Do you typically play in soft or hard turf conditions. The problem is which bounce and grind option work best for you and your game without getting totally confused or you play in all kinds of conditions and turf. Ideally, you may want one with lower bounce and one with higher bounce to allow you to play a variety of shots and conditions around/near the green (Raflewski). Path will also affect bounce and grind selections. So for someone with an out to in path and a tendency to be steep and take large divots, you want more bounce (e.g. 12*) If your path is in to out and you are shallow, with little to no divots, you want less bounce (e.g. 8*) With wedges ideally you want your ball to launch 1/2 of the stated loft -2. So for 60*,launch at 28, for 58*, launch at 27*. (Source: Aaron Dill of Vokey/Titleist). The Vokey wedge selector tool is a good place to start, but won’t replace an actual fitting. https://www.vokey.com/tools/wedge-selector-tool.aspx Jim Shaw, ILMgolfnut, MattWillGolf and 6 others 8 1 Quote Driver: Taylormade Stealth 2 plus, LA golf DJ shaft, 55S 3 wood - TM Stealth plus, Mitsubishi Kai’li. I think you really have to dig deeper than that if you want comprehensive answers. You can be steep and take no divot or shallow and take large divots; that is more about low point control. Shaft lean will also influence bounce; a hinge and hold approach will generally increase shaft lean which eliminates bounce. sirchunksalot, GolfSpy AFG, rkj427 and 6 others 9 Quote Driver: G400 Max 9* w/ KBS Tour Driven Fairway: XCG7 Beta 15* w/Fujikura Fuel Hybrids: 915H 21* w/KBS Tour Graphite Hybrid Prototype 915H 24* w/KBS Tour Graphite Hybrid Prototype Irons: TR20V 6-11 w/Vizard TR20-85 Graphite Wedge: 54/12D, 60/8M w/Accra iWedge 90 Graphite Putter: Sacks Parente MC 3 Stripe Backup Putters: Milled Collection RSX 2, mFGP2, Futura 5W, TM-180 Member: MGS Hitsquad since 2017

In my opinion, as long as the head is securely seated to the shaft (no wobbling) you're fine to play with the wedge. I live in southern MI and am also very excited about these couple days of warm weather! Hopefully the courses aren't too busy! I have similar experience with Ping. My G410 Crossover's head came loose. I called Ping and they said send it in. They sent a prepaid shipping label. They followed up when they received the club and said that the shaft was broken and needed replacing and it was fully covered. They also asked what my grip preference was. I said a Golf Pride MCC +4. They said they had it in gray. I said perfect. I'd like it installed logo down. What they failed to tell me was that it was a gray MCC +4 ALIGN grip. I replaced it as soon as it arrived. Surgeon had told me I would be out of work for a month even working at home. She is not doing well and a couple of the tumors have popped up up on her face and seem to be impacting her breathing; we have an appointment with the vet at 4:00 Glad you are on the mend but so very sorry about your cat. sirchunksalot, cksurfdude, cnosil and 4 others 7 Quote Anyday Maverick Black Ops 7-way 0311 Black Ops 8° w/Mitsubishi Diamana S+ 60 0311 XF 3 wood 16° w/Mitsubishi Tensei AV Raw Blue Paradym X 5 - GW w/True Temper Elevate MPH Official Forum Test SM9 54°/12° D and 58°/12° D w/KBS Tour 110 DF3 w/BGT Stability ONE Forum Test ER11v 34” Evnroll ER11v Official Forum Test Shot Scope Pro LX+ Pro LX+ Official Forum Test Elixr 3.5+
