Good afternoon MGS!

I swear with all the chaos that this permits my day is gone before I know it, but to day I'm okay with it! Gotta go watch the HS football game about an hour away as I now have 2 young men in the marching band. On Fridays this former football guy is all Band DAD. Tomorrow the freshmen that marches will be playing in his first game of the year at home and then my youngest at 2:30! Sunday 9 holes busy weekend but that is my life every fall. Have a great rest of you day all and if you get out, hit em straight

@BIG STU you'll be happy to know my wife got me with the golf ban hammer when I got home. I mentioned going to the range for some wedge work and she looked at me, looked down at my knee, and continued to do so about six times. She's definitely smarter than I am and I'm glad to have someone who wants to take care of me and not let me do something rash. 

@CPP welcome to the forum! The GMT is a great way to start your day off and we hope you'll just dive in to the forum. We have a good group here.

My wife is headed to Dubuque, IA in the morning tomorrow for a little girls weekend getaway with her best friend. I made a reservation at a nice hotel right downtown and it was a surprise gift for her birthday which was in July. I get quite a bit of time away from the house with golf, annual buddies trip, etc., so wanted my wife to have some time to not have to be mom for a day. Not sure what their plans are or if they even have any set yet, but hoping she has a good time.

I am more than likely going to take the boys over to my parents' place tomorrow as they've been begging to go over there and we just haven't had time lately. Between how busy we've been and my folks getting new flooring and furniture, their house was tore up for quite awhile and the timing was never good. Will probably try to play at least 9 at a little 9 hole muni there in town. It's not the best conditions (at least the last time I played two years ago) but there are some fun hole layouts and some shorter Par 4s that are driveable with a good strike. My favorite hole is the Par Four 5th, where the tee box is very elevated from the green as it is cut out of the side of a huge hill. If I get out, I'll be sure to snap a photo.

I played Amana today. I stopped keeping score after 7 holes. I was humbled.

Greens were SO FAST - and not anywhere near the speed of the practice green! I walked off thinking "Man these greens are slow today," and then blew every putt 20 feet long. Pin placements were also tough today; I had several that spun off the front or were placed on the top of a ridge and rolled off if you didn't hole it. Very tough day today. If you see any ProV1's with 6 dots on them, they're mine - I distributed them all throughout the course today.

Apparently the hits just keep coming for us recently. Wife and I spent most of the morning and afternoon at the vet with our daughter's cat. Blood work said a bad case of anemia and low iron. They gave him a bunch of medication and an additional blood panel test to see if it is something that basically attacks his own blood cells, but results won't be back until Monday. It could also be cancer. To be honest, I don't think he will make it to Monday. Worst part is that he is supposed to turn 3 tomorrow. Way too early to lose a cat.

Sorry to hear about your daughter's fur baby, Hopefully the tests will find a condition that can be treated, and he pulls through. Thoughts are with you and your family.

6 dots around the number??? That is the way I mark mine as my old man did before me. This day in time for me I do not play ProVs anymore.

Well... That escalated quickly. Moon went from playing around like a normal 2 year old cat to having to be put down in a matter of 4 days. He was completely normal on Monday. It's really not fair and it doesn't get any easier no matter how many pets you go through it with.

So sorry to hear of the loss of your precious fur baby Moon. Having gone thru this again recently, I can only agree that it never gets any easier as they become part of the family so quickly and whether we like it or not they do make an imprint on our lives.

I'm so sorry to hear about his passing, that breaks my heart. It's never easy when you lose a pet, especially as young as he was. You and your family have been through the wringer lately and I hope and pray it gets better soon.

Good morning Spies!

Great first day in Rome and onto day 2 today. Got a good first night’s sleep after running on fumes for most of yesterday. Today’s agenda includes a tour of the Vatican, checking out the Spanish Steps, and of course more gelato. 

Woke up to see the INCREDIBLE TaylorMade testing opportunity. I was very much hoping the new P770s/P7CBs would get tested, as I love the look of both of them. The Forum Staff crushing it, as always! Best of luck to all applying!

Good morning all on a wet and grey start to the day here. Duty day today on what is normally one of our busiest weekends of the year with Notting Hill Carnival. This is an annual carnival that is a celebration of Afro Caribbean culture but typically is marred by gang violence and has a massive police presence. 
@RichL85 so sorry for your loss. The loss of a pet is heartbreaking especially when so young. @Byrnzee enjoy Rome, there is so much to see and do that you’ll probably need another holiday to recover after it

Yesterday’s tournament went well. The driver was working great for me again, as were the irons but my short game wasn’t that good. The first 18 went great with me scoring 41 points stableford. The 2nd 18 started well but by the time the back 9 came around I was feeling it and the game dropped off. Managed 31 points which was good enough for 2nd place overall  

It was a really nice course which has previously hosted the European Open and an enjoyable day.

Oh how I would love to play there. I always say that golf wise I was born on the wrong side of the pond. I have a good friend of mine born and raised in the UK but has been he has been here some 30 years now. He has played a lot of European courses including St Andrews and Carnoustie. He tells me my game and style would adapt well over there. With me I would love to play one of the "bucket list" courses but in reality a regular working mans daily fee course would suit me well. Of course I would play it with the blades and persimmon

Well as everyone can see I am up early. Went to bed last night early because I wanted to catch part of the Womens Open at St Andrews. I know it is a rerun but when it was live I was out playing myself. Really a stellar day yesterday shot 78 (+6) off a 10 index for the day. We really cleaned up and made $10 for the day. I know the round could have been better. Our greens have been crappy all year long then for some reason the Verdi Cut them Thursday. Talk about Bunny Hop city. Did manage to make one birdie because I flew the 56* in to like 8 inches. Missed like 3 what I considered makeable birdie putts within 10 feet or so. Missed a couple of par putts too. But overall I think my ball striking has came back.

The wife and I are off the Par3 first tee time at 8AM this morning. None of the hickory group as called in either to me or the course. Did not get any texts or e- mails from the course or any of the guys. Will play my regular stuff today with the Cleveland 588 56* Mac blade PW at 48* and my rusty Scotty Santa Fe. I enjoy the hickory stuff but playing my regular stuff with a modern ball really sharpens my game. We are playing early and with no one in front of us taking out usual breaks should be done by 10. We plan to eat breakfast at a pancake house/breakfast place we have not tried before. Usually in tourist season it is crowded as heck. With the kids in most areas back to school and the snowbirds not arriving yet it should not be too bad.

There are some great affordable courses over here with some fantastic deals to be had. Where we played yesterday, East Sussex National, is a tour quality setting and we got 36 holes, coffee and bacon roll on arrival, light lunch and 2 course evening meal for £80. It was subsidised for us but all the same a great price.
