I know there are at least 1 or 2 playing an afternoon round today.  Just can’t recall who.

Just a FYI to those who may be traveling back home north on I-95.

Accident (fire damage) caused closure in both directions in Philly.

Hopefully none of the group gets delayed because of this.

That was terrible and as @BKervin said caused a lot of damage. I was just telling my wife about this as we pulled into Walgreens. Hopefully y'all have safe travels back home and I can't wait to hear some of the stories and see more photos from the trip.

Oh ohh.... @GolfSpy BOS and BOS Dad driving back.....  .. also Derek @EasyPutter but not sure he goes on I95 and he's tuned in to Waze.

Can anyone tell me why it was so quiet with the on course posting yesterday? I can. The fairways were pretty open while I was looking for different groups. Go ahead ask why. Well, I’ll tell you. Most of the guys were in the trees and pine straw looking for their balls. They didn’t have time to post with all the searching going on. I can also tell you that the scores ranged from the mid 70’s to well past a hundred.
I tried getting into one of the units but I couldn’t reach the door knob. I had to sleep on the driving range with some of my other yellow friends. Rumor has it that Jeff was trying to spoon again.

Consensus amongst most of the group seemed to be Mid South as the fave, followed by Talamore .. Pine Needles in 3rd .........

In a word: challenging!!

Each had it's own character, scenery and variety of hole layouts; Talamore has the nasty pot bunkers - which yours truly successfully (+ a large dose of luck a few times) avoided!

Putting was very tricky on each course - slick, fast and a whole lotta slope and contours - so yeah a bunch of 3 putts from most players!

As some of you know I own a condo at Talamore, so have a membership at Talamore and Mid South, and get there pretty regularly.  Even though Pine Needles has the championship pedigree, the Donald Ross features, and may be the best test of golf among the three, I'd rate those courses exactly the same.  I'm really glad to read that everyone had fun, I just wish I could have joined y'all.

I made it home after driving through/ by a mountain tunnel wreck that Siri tried to by pass only to put me further up the line so not bad. Did get to see the Jefferson nation forest as a result. 

Thanks to Mrs McGolf putting the easy pass in McGolf1 all three toll boths looked like a mad dash at a disney park. Having the easy pass was like having a fast past at disney.

Guys it was great seeing old friend and making new ones. 

Will be talking about it on the live stream tomorrow.

What is with this four legged animals carrying golf bags thing?  Is the golfer resposible for clean-up?  I feel out of place enough with a caddie, so I'll take a hard pass thank you .

Courses were nice.  The benefit at Mid South and Talamore was the cart had GPS so you could see the hole layout and get some distances.   The lack of the GPS at Pine Needles made it a little tougher to know exactly where to hit the ball.   

IMO, biggest challenge was holding the greens.   The speed, firmness, and contours seemed to cause all but the best shots to roll off the green and result in some challenging pitch shots.

I kind of went off the grid during the outing.   Phone didn't go to the course on Saturday and while it was there Sunday I tried to avoid reading/posting anything.   Sorry,   I just get too easily distracted.  

One of the best parts of the weekend was just hanging out Friday and Saturday evening.   Some stayed in the villa and with the driving/chipping/putting green behind the villa some of us hung out there.    

Mid South was the first round;  struggled with green speed but ended up shooting 83.   

My stupid moment happened at Pine Needles.  We were getting ready to tee off and I decided to stretch a little bit and noticed I didn't have my golf shoes.    Since we stayed at Mid South,  I wore my shoes to the course.  When we were done I switched to tennis shoes but didn't put the shoes with the bag so I walked off without them.    Traction wasn't too bad;  shot 86.

Talamore was another great course and played really well shooting a 77.  

 

I said it after the MD outing and will say it again after this outing,  if you have a chance to go to a Spy outing I highly recommend going.   It is really nice to put faces to names and just spend some time together to get to know the people we chat with everyday.
