Chuffed B Great round and congratulations on the PB! 4 hours ago, Vegan_Golfer_PNW said: And this is the game of golf. This morning could not get anything going short game wise. Shot a 51 on this morning nine. Driver has been perplexing and has me thinking of a different shaft profile as I am hitting it all over the map. My short game was off so I was 1/3 today (irons were solid striking, just had some punch out situations or needing to miss some branches). I will say I ended on a high note with my first birdie of the season and I got to see some woodland creatures. IMG_0044.mov Congratulations on getting your first (of many) birdie of the season! It's still early in the season and the short game is one of the hardest things to get back and I believe you will. 3 hours ago, NubianRugby said: I had such high hopes yesterday. I hit into a fairway bunker on the par 5 first hole, got out of the sand, and hit a massive 4 iron to the left of the green leaving myself in position to get up & down for par. This is what you're supposed to do right? Don't try to make a hero shot out a bunker, take your medicine, and finish strong with a par in this situation. Then the wheels came off; hit a little too strong on the chip, hit & rolled off the green. Followed that up with a bladed chip over the green again, now I'm laying 5 off the green, then onto the green and a terrible 2 putt for a snowman on the first hole. Pulled my tee shot left on the second hole and hit a brilliant fade around a big tree, over water, and left myself another opportunity to get up & down for par from about 15 yards off the green. Naturally I bladed another wedge shot over the green and walked away with double bogie. It was at that point I decided I was playing a practice round and would concentrate on enjoying the weather and the fact that I was the only person on the front 9 cause the greens had been punched that morning and I was the first person sent out. I eventually settled down and hit a few decent chips after realizing I wasn't swinging through the ball with intention . . . because I was scared of blading the chip. I was striking the ball well but couldn't put it all together on any holes on the front 9. Because I didn't have to wait I played 9 holes in a little over an hour and flipped around to the back 9 because why wouldn't I? Again, I was getting off the tee pretty well and hitting OK approach shots where I wasn't hitting greens but leaving myself in position to get up & down for par. I hit 2/7 greens in regulation (I quit after 16 due to a massive backup) on the back and missed both "birdie" putts. See my shame below. #MissedBirdiePutts I feel your pain on having a short game disaster, that's been plaguing my game lately. There's nothing worse than the feeling you get after blading one over the green. It looks like you had some beautiful weather to be out in and I'm glad you got to play. tdroma98, THE GOLF GUY, GolfSpy_SHARK and 6 others 8

Dweed
Played my first Michigan 9 holes for season 2024. Upper 60's but the wind was horrible. Gusting over 30 making it tough to judge. Shot 42 so I'm not real sad, but would have been happier if I hadn't had 2 three putts. Was real happy on a par 5 I've never hit in 2. Today I managed to, thanks wind. Shapotomous
It was the first night of play in the 9 hole league. 6 pars, 1 double and 2 bogeys got me to a 40. I hadnt played in over a month and hadnt touched a club for about two weeks so my expectations werent high. My opponent really struggled so even without playing anywhere near my league handicap of 1 i took 7 of 9 points. NubianRugby
Warm weather again today and it looks like rain the rest of the week, so I skipped the gym to play another 9. Shot 50 and couldn't anything going with the putter but played much better around the greens today by applying yesterday's lesson of coming through the ball strong even on a short backswing. Hit the green in regulation on both par 5s, but had a horror show 3-putt bogie on the second one. Missed three opportunities to get up & down for par by not draining the putt, but combined with the 2 GiR that means I was getting off the tee and hitting decent approaches for the most part today and that makes me happy. Popular Post sp0rtsfan86
Well I played 9 yesterday and the results were generally awful. My putter was a lot more consistent, but still two lags that weren't up to my standards. My irons were mostly fine although a few were downright terrible. Driving and wedges though: woof. I wish I hit more than one or two good ones. Instead it was varying stages of mediocre with the occasional shot that goes 15 yards and dives into brush. Ended up shooting a 49 but could have been a lot, lot worse. MaxEntropy
First league night in the books and 3rd day in a row of golf for me. Overall, it was a pretty good night. +6 on the harder of the 2 nines (my league handicap is a 4 for 9). I had two silly doubles that even if I just bogey, I'm at my handicap. Driver had been pretty good so far this year, but last night there were more flares - nothing super problematic, but certainly distance-robbing. I think I figured out what I was doing, but of course it was on the last hole. My chipping has been pretty suspect so far this season, where I was on a heater last year. Time to go to the practice area and work on it, I guess, but I'm tempted to partially blame the super soft conditions we have had. Alan Stewart
Played one of the great sleeper courses in Wisconsin, Washington County, in Hartford, yesterday for my first Wisconsin 18 of the year. Links style course with links style wind. Gusts up to 30 on the front and dropping down to only about 20 on the back. Couldn’t hit the ball straight and benefited from the natural grasses off the fairway not having grown in yet. Putted well enough and scrambled to an 85 with few hit fairways or greens. Walking up hill and down dale with my brother on a beautiful spring day on a nice course was pretty nice. Wishing all y’all similarly nice golf experiences this week. MDGolfHacker
First time out this year since September 23 with my new Titleist TSR2 driver and new Titleist hybrid on a boy's weekend in OC, MD. Played a course called Rum Pointe (https://rumpointe.com/). It was beautiful for the entire weekend...EXCEPT when we played. Temps never got above 50* and there was somewhere in the neighborhood of 10-25mph sustained winds which made for a freezing round (the feels like temp was probably closer to 35*). Hit some great shots and not so great shots but couldn't get anything started (did I mention it was freezing cold - and none of us really wore anything for that type of temperature). Still, had a great time with some neighbors and I'm excited to really put the new equipment to the test for league! Maybe I just stick with old school and use the scorecard. lol I got the Connex sensors. Works with an app on your phone. It's easy enough and all but putting is the hard part make easy. cksurfdude, William P, Rygolf32 and 2 others 5 Quote Driver: Aerojet LS, Ventus Blue Shaft - 6S 4 Wood: Rogue ST Max 16.5, Tensei White Shaft - 7S Utility Iron: Fli Hi 3-iron, HAZARDOUS Smoke Black Shaft - S Irons: JPX 921 Tour 4-P, Project X Shafts - Stiff 125g Wedges: 52º, 56º, 60º Putter: Ai-One 7 T CH, 34" Preferred Ball: Z-Star Diamond Pushcart: Nitron Rangefinder: Tour V5 Shift

I don't know what's worse: a 3 putt bogie or a 3 putt par, a strong argument could be made either way. Rob Person
Squeezed out 9 holes before GC duties today. Wind was brutal. Mostly in my face, but really Swirling above 30 feet. Had one tee shot Ballon and moved right when the wind was straight back. Ended on a +9 45. Had a few blowup holes. Wind kept me short on a number of shots. Putter was pretty good too. I got sacked on my fairway play though. Had one amazing shot today too though. Par 3, thought I was short, it caught the high side of the fringe and bounced and rolled to the pin within a foot. What should have been a tap in, lipped put. Ugh!
