Not the first time I have seen this.

Hopefully the last. It’s a terrible contributor to pace of play issues.

This!!!!  I 110% agree. We would see a lot less low 50s scores.

there should be more 9 hole courses

more courses need to add lights for playing at night

courses need to have as many pull carts as regular carts to encourage walking

unless you know what ready golf means you shouldn't be playing

Oh, the things I would do for more night golf courses. There's something about an 8pm tee time that would just hit the spot.

Aim point slows the pace of play more than anything. Ask Harry Hall's playing partners when he does AP on 3 foot putts.

We need more 9 hole executive / Par 3 courses!! Less land, less water, more fun, great iron practice.

Mine is that driving the ball well is more important than statistics may suggest. Taking penalties and spending time in the woods looking for balls takes a mental toll on players that bleeds over to short game and putting.

I've been told to chip and putt more to lower scores. I agree with practicing short stuff of course. But working on a fairway finder is paramount to a good round and a good time.

Fairway finder. Not bombs.

My pipe dream is to open and maintain a 6 hole short course in the rural farmland area around my home.  Similar to what the lads built at Sugarloaf Field Club in NY by Lake George.  I don’t have the means or resources but a guy can dream.  Just a shack and a barn for mowers…nice and easy…just golf.

All scrambles should play as two foursomes simultaneously for score integrity. -Are you saying 8 people play the same hole? 20 minutes between tee times since there are basically two tee times taken? I'm not opposed to this, just looking for clarification as I think I like this idea.

Aim point is a gimmick that doesn’t improve putting stats.-  If you are using aim point the 1 minute clock starts as soon as the previous player marks or pulls his ball out of the hole.

Golfers (new younger ones especially) would benefit from more 6 hole par 3 courses. - Why less golf? Play nine holes from under 200 or even 150 yards and in.

Your hots takes and I am not trying to argue as I like where this could go.

Two foursomes, correct.

Scrambles are ridden with cheaters and it would certainly bring some integrity to a “charity golf tournament.”

Not sure how spacing would work however if you had 36 teams, two groups on each tee, it could work for proper pace.

I suspect you'd have more accurate scoring. Heck, even in tourney golf I see folks taking liberties with the rules. Integrity doesn't seem to be a big part of thebworld we live in 😔.

Aim point is a gimmick that doesn’t improve putting stats.

Is this statement supported by data, ir is this an opinion? If aim point isn't supported by data, why does it seem to be such a fad in the game these days...especially since it appears to generate slow play?

Golfers (new younger ones especially) would benefit from more 6 hole par 3 courses.

Agreed for younger ones due to shorter attention spans. But might that not create an attitude that discourages full course play?

I have seen some data that shows it does not significantly improve putting performance.  The data was comparing pro pro putting performance pre aimpoint and post aimpoint.

There is some mathematical basis for the system since a putt will always curve the same amount on a tilted plane with the same speed.  Single tilted plane gets you out to 10 maybe 15 feet from the hole.   It is a method that simply gets you in the ballpark for break.

IMO, slowplay isn’t created by aimpoint but the player applying the system.

Yes, I suppose the time it takes to emply the aim point sysytem would vary by player. Perhaps the players I'm watching on TV just seem to take more time doing their aim point thing from various positions along the line.

Hot Take???

There should never ever be a bunker or tree in the middle of the fairway. The side and in landing perceived landing zones sure, just not in the middle.
