  • 1 month later...

Now several hours later, my 120 day old GPS Wristwatch does not work. It tells the time but none of the buttons work. No explanation. Looks like I may be renewing my SkyCaddie before the Texas Open.

If you ask me right now I would say this is not very f***ing handy anymore.angry.gif

Any updates on the watch...I was looking at picking up one.

I had not been planning on buying the GPS watch but someone somewhere reported a selling price of $50 and I felt that for that kind of money I could find a way to live with short battery life and the need to map your own course. I asked a friend in Canada to bring me one when He next came to visit. Several surprises. He bought the NeoX, it cost $ 200 and I was not able to register it on the website and therefore unable to even check out to see if any local courses were mapped.

It looked like a lost investment but a good friend familiar with the workings of such things agreed to try to register my watch on his computer and succeeded. He also downloaded a flock of local courses for me. I have given the watch a road test and I am now a happy camper. I have not worn a watch for a decade so I initially banged it on tables and desks around me. However when I get to the course I just turn it on, identify my course and the rest is automatic. It even turns the GPS function off after a set amount of time, adequate except when forced into an abnormally slow round. I used it for three rounds and the battery showed the charge reduced to only two bars from the fully charged four. I recharged it at that point because I was already satisfied that the battery life really was more than adequate. The NeoX also changes holes automatically and the information it gives is bare bones unless I instruct it for more. You still need to use your own eyes to figure out distances to some fairway hazards but it's no big deal so I am leaving the info it gives bare bones. My clumsy fingers have trouble pushing the tiny buttons but whereas I only have to turn on the GPS function when I get to the course, I'm satisfied.
