these kids' stories make me want to puke. The only story worth anything is the war between with one leg. At least he has a legit story, these young punks with the silver spoons make me want to punch them in the mouth. Ranting over

One thing I've always been irked about golf is that it's a rich person sport.

I know in my age bracket when I tell people I play golf a lot it's like I'm telling them," I'm rich you're not".... at least to some of them.

Then again, I get told by them they have clubs but don't play often.

As for the big break I've never gotten into that show much because I don't have golf channel. I'm still poor enough to have basic premium cable and when I did, I didn't find it super entertaining aside from the skill challenges.

I like the show - don't really pay attention to the stories though - I like the show because the different challenges are cool to watch.  I actually have adopted a couple as a part of my practice routine - hit it to distances with each ball going farther and also while pitching to a hole are two of my favorites.

This particular one is of interest for me because I've played the course.

When I haven't had cable (that's going to be happening here again soon) I'll just watch the episodes off the website.

The business of golf being a rich person's sport or the perception that it is most certainly is a topic to be explored.  Perhaps one of you gents who brought it up would like to start a thread about it.  We've had threads about the decline of the game or how to grow it and really we danced around that issue.  Thanks guys

They should do big break hacker edition.

No handicaps under 10 allowed and of course the grand prize couldn't be a spot in a pro tournament, but it would be a blast to watch!!

They could then find colorful people to mix it up on the course.

I thought about another one. Big Break Senior Edition!

16 Grumpy retried guys competing and complaining about everything from their wives to their lazy ass kids!!!

DISCLAIMER: I am not trying to insinuate that all people who have entered the "Golden Years" are grumpy and negative, but for this show you would need to seek out these people!!!

I can see it now, constant complaining about someone getting too many strokes and passive aggressive comments from start to finish of each episode!

"I remember when I was 58, I could hit it 300 plus too, Since I'm 61 I get at least 10 strokes!"

"Nice putt! your putter is my best club!"

"Don't worry, I won't tell your wife how long you chatted up that cart lady!"

They've had a senior edition or two but not the senior edition that is envisioned here. :)

The folks on these shows can play - I think the strength of field has improved immensely since the show first started.  Actually relatively speaking the girls are better as they are almost exclusively Symetra Tour players anymore.

The guys are generally mini-tour heroes but consider that at least two alums - Tommy Gainey and Matt Every have won on tour.  Tony Fianau (or however he spells his name) is also and alum and pretty clearly he's on the precipice of a win.

I knew one of the women contestants from the early days quite well - Lori Astedes - she is from Ithaca NY, she was in High School when I was in college and we played several rounds together - her Dad was the golfing and bowling king of the city.  She played on the LPGA and then had substance issues - it was an attempted comeback.

Consider the shots hit last night - within a foot of the line from 190 and 230? 4 inches at 140 - with one shot?  That's impressive stuff.  Both guys had a reasonable look at birdie in the elimination hole and even though it's a par 5 18 is no picnic when it plays into the wind - the lay up is ridiculously tight and that green is very small with lots of slope - it's no sure birdie in the tournament when it's into the wind - down wind is a different matter because it can be reached but even there its a very small target from 230.

While I can certainly appreciate good golf, that is what I watch tour coverage for. I am thinking about me being entertained, the golf would take a secondary role if I were producing it!!!

I enjoy watching the show, but the player bio's for this show was not needed, some of these guys are very good, it will soon show who the best 2 or 3 are, the arrogant ones never last long on the show, give it a few episodes and we will see the true talented players from this group.

I'd love to see the battle of the 10 or 15 handicaps. That would be fun to watch just because you know at any moment a double bogey could win a hole.

Senior edition sounds great too. For announcers just make it Statler and Waldorf from the Muppets. That's a show I'd watch.

I agree with this too....it was just the first show but these guys were hitting SHOTS!  They all seem really really good this season.

Watched one season of the Big Break and that was only because my son's instructor and also someone that I played a few tournaments were competitors on the show.  Once both were eliminated I stopped watching.
