  1. Poll Results, Their Effects on the League, and the Playoff Format Here's a quick rundown of how the polls shook out and how they affect your week-to-week team management.... Draft Date & Time. The setup seemed to work for more than half the league so thanks to everyone who was able to join and special thanks to those who set up auto draft prior. Once we got past the first round, the draft really flew by. 1 hour total was fantastic to cover so many picks. FAAB. @Undershooter posted how it works. The only note I'll add is that since we only drafted 6 players last night, you still need to hit the waiver wire for your remaining 2. The $200 budget is for the whole season. Once you're out, you can only win $0 bids. Best Ball, Best 4. What does this mean? It means there's no start/sit decisions to make. You have 8 players on your team and the decisions is your total roster from week to week. The best 4 scores count to your total. Be careful who you drop though because those players become available to the rest of the league. Regular Season H2H. We're playing everyone vs everyone, every week. Or, just think of it like we're playing tournaments like the PGA. Whatever place you fall in the league is how many "wins" you get. In Live Scoring, the matchups tab is going to look crazy. I recommend watching the "All Teams" part of that to get a gauge for where you stand vs the rest of the league. This format is great because it's 100% matchup proof and the best teams will succeed. The downside is Fantrax doesn't have a great way to display it. PLAYER DUPLICATES. This wasn't a vote but there's been lots of questions about it. There are 4 copies of each player. 4 of Brooks, 4 of Rickie, 4 of Tiger....etc. YOU CANNOT OWN MORE THAN ONE COPY OF A GIVEN PLAYER. This causes a glitch in the matrix. In our test league, we were actually able to complete a trade that put 2 of JT onto one team....only problem is, the 2nd JT disappeared altogether once it went through. We reported this bug to Fantrax but will need to keep an eye on any trades that go through to ensure you don't put yourself in a pickle. +++++++++++++++++++++++ Playoffs. We've had a different format in each of the 3 seasons thus far. It's hard work to find something that makes sense for golf and keeps things interesting down to the final week. This one will closely mimic the FedEx playoffs and runs during the same weeks. 30 teams make the playoffs, 20 from the first event advance, and the final 10 will compete for the League Championship Points are reset heading into the playoffs. From there, the totals are cumulative (ie. points from the first playoff event carry to your 2nd and 3rd.) Bonuses are awarded based on regular season finish. 1st: 40 2nd: 35 3rd: 30 4th: 25 5-10: 20 10-20: 10 20-30: Good Luck Does this all make sense? If not, please get your questions out now so you can be informed as the season progresses. I've also got some of the previous posts explaining other things tagged at the top of this thread page in "Hot Links." You can see it on the desktop version.

No worries. Any and all video evidence of me performing a “ballet” will never leave the confines of this house... I hope. But I know I have to support my kids, and to break the ice I have to be a goof ball to get him to show me his ballet, he was a little shy about it still... now that the ice is broken he is the master and I am just an apprentice, going to wear me out.

  6. So I am back from my fitting. Not even sure where to start as this was like no other experience that I have had getting fit for golf clubs. I guess first, my apologies as I didn’t take any pictures. The fitting was fun but very business like which was a good thing. The first comment that I can make is that the studio and the technology was top notch and the fitter was one of the best that I have ever dealt with. Name a shaft, any shaft and they more than likely have it available to hit. The second comment would be that I left with a bag that if I had my pick to start I wouldn’t have ended up where I did. This is not a bad thing at all and we actually built a bag that has purpose behind it. My main goal going in was irons that flight down and hitting fairways. Also wanted to see if I could do graphite through the bag as an option. So what did I get. Let’s go top down.... Driver: I went with the 0811 XF with a Graphite Design AD VR 6x. We went with the 10.5* head lofted down to 9* to get the open look at address. I was impressed that the fitter was not only able to get me into a driver that ticked all the boxes for me. Ball speed was in the mid 160s with great launch and spin numbers. 3 wood: This was one that we spent a lot of time on to get right. I wanted something that was a low spin monster off the tee but I could launch up when I needed it to. Talk about two polar opposite asks on this one. I lost count of the shafts that I hit but started with a HZRDUS Yellow smile, a Fuji TS, Atmos, and a few Graphite Design shafts before settling on the final combo. Ended up with an 0341x with the low spin setting and a Graphite Design AD TP 7x. Hybrid: Was between hybrid and five wood going in and once I saw the hybrid I was sold. These clubs just look great at address. This may have been the easiest to fit with just one shaft and I was sold. Went with the 19* 0317x with a KBS Proto 95x. Irons: This was the part I got completely wrong in what I wanted coming in. I was thinking of a blended set between the P model and the T model with graphite. The only pet that was right was it was a blended set. I went with the 0311 T in the 4,5 and 6 with 0311 ST in the 7,8,9 and PW. For gapping the ST will be bent 1* strong. The shafts we went with were KBS $ Taper 130x and that was a shock to me. We tried every graphite option they had and we just could not get the desired launch, spin and peak height into the window that I wanted. My goal is to flight the ball lower and I think we built a set that stock shots fly where I want them and I can still hit them up if I need to. Wedges: Went with the new Sugar Daddy wedges in 50*, 54* and 60*. The 50 has the $ Taper 130x and the 54 and 60 have TTDG S400s. I will say that the 58* with 7* of bounce shocked with with just how versatile it is. The grind is very unique and it was the shock of the bag to me. Putter: Gen 2 Spitfire with a double bend shaft at 34”. Was the best of the lot for me and really was just a throw in to get the full back deal. Come spring and my T Squared is back in the bag. Well the last thing that anyone needs to talk about with PXG is price. I am not putting this out there for any other reason than for knowledge and comparison. I did the full bag promo that was 14 unique clubs, a bag and a hat which was just under $6k with the Sugar Daddy wedges. If you go with the forged wedges the price is about $500 lower. The shafts in the top end of the bag were a slight upcharge but much less than half of what other OEMs charge for the same shaft. Overall I am happy with the experience and have a bag that was built top to bottom for what I wanted and my game. For me, this was a once in a lifetime shot to do something that I always wanted to do and PXG did not disappoint. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

My oldest son is about a month into Ballet lessons. Today he tells me he wants to be a professional ballet dancer and yoga instructor. First order of business he said “dad, you need to learn some moves to help you with your golf swing.” Here I am learning ballet from an 11 year old this evening, working on some sort of jump 360 spin thing and some stretching I didn’t know my body could do.... 11. Why do you need Nike when Foot joy sells golf shoes too? The answer is one size doesn’t fit all. What I hope to provide is a comprehensive review that will help the reader make an informed decision. An example of why the SC over my smart phone app is graphic display and durability. I use 3.0 reading glasses. I cannot read my smart phone without them. As a matter of fact I can’t read a Laser without them either. I used the SC yesterday and found the screen to be very clear without my glasses. I hate taking them on and off during a round of Golf so for me the SC is a much better fit. The durability of the S.C. far exceeds that of any smart phone. A new iPhone 11 costs about a grand so exposing it to the elements is not the smartest move in the world.

TM SIM vs Maltby KE4 TC

Maltby have a sneaky release of thier new head and usually dont do releases till late spring/summer. So it caught me a bit off guard. This one has a cast ti body of 8-1-1 and a face of 6-4 ti. They brought back an adjustable hosel and have thier signature single weight port. The new SIM driver arrived at the same time so a shootout ensued The SIM was a 9.0 with the Hzrdus Green S at 46", weight slightly heel side. KE4 TC had the Xcaliber Superlite55 S tipped an inch at 45". I also had along an M5 9.0 and an ISO-T 10.5. Right away the M5 was knocked out as it was out to the right and a slight but shorter but in a tight pattern. No doubt the distance was hampered by the fade. The ISO-T is not the one I have setup for myself but it was a good representation. This one spins in the 3200 rpm area and though it matched ball speed of 155 the spin kills the distance. But it is very straight. It was obvious this was between the KE4 and the SIM. The first chart shows how they stacked up. The KE4 carry numbers had a pair of 250 carries that hurt its numbers but overall it more than held its own. It bettered the ball speed yet was slower in club head speed. Had much better spin and was as consistent. Seeing this really intrigued me into wanting to get a matching shaft comparison. As the two drivers sit I could have played either one. Feel wise a slight nod goes to the SIM. it has a bit softer feel but not by a lot. Same goes for the sound,, it's just slightly softer. Both feel and sound with nearly any TM these days is a benchmark. The SIM is right up there.. with the KE4 its NOT a huge difference but it is there. Just a bit firmer and louder,, just a bit. The construction of the two is quite different and the carbon crown of the SIM plays a big role. So next I put a matching Xcaliber Superlite55 S tipped an inch in the SIM. Both are 45" long and matching grips. This was two days later and didnt quite have my swing from the previous test but it was repeatable. I hit the SIM first for 5 and switched. Viewed the data and repeated the 5 and 5. This test showed the KE4 to edge out the SIM again but this time it was a little more clear. There is not a huge difference but it is there in the numbers. Spin is still far better. Ball speed is nearly the same yet the SIM is still faster. The aero on the head is REAL. you can swing the SIM faster yet it was not showing the leap expected in ball speed. Smash factor reflects that as well. For the heck of it I repeated a 3 and 3 test on the E6 software and had the same results. The KE4 beat it out. As far as dispersion goes they were pretty equal. With the KE4 I can take the right side of the fairway out of play. With the SIM I need to aim down the middle. My misses were right and left but all still well in play. The KE4 was steadily left. not in a hooky sort of way, just left. Which for me is new. Once I get outside I'll play with the settings where I'm better able to see its actual flight. Now,,,,, I have $210 into the build of the KE4 TC. The SIM is $549. I'm not knocking the SIM as I really did enjoy the driver and certainly could play it, (I still could have adjusted setting with the SIM, as well the KE4), but there is no way I can justify over twice the cost. Maltby has a fantastic release with the top of the KE4 line up. I really look forward to spending more time with it getting it dialed in. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk

  21. I can tell you how to tell if there are 4 or not, but I haven't figured out how to get the exact amount yet. Edit: I lied, yes I can. Click on the player and scroll far right on the tabs toward the top of their player card, until you see "Ownership." Click on the ownership tab and you can see who all owns the player. Not super efficient, but it only takes about 5-10 seconds.

  22. ... The thing about Demo Day is the plethora of head and shaft combinations is usually much more extensive than what you might find at your shop. I always find it fun to hit stuff I probably would not have access to locally, like say a Tensei Pro Orange or new Graphite Design shaft in several different driver heads. Or the new graphite irons shafts that sell for $75 or more. You get the idea, it really can be like a kid in a candy store if you like hitting different and/or unusual offerings. But they also have several putting greens with most all the putter OEMs there with putters to try and very few lines so you will probably really enjoy that!

    How'd you play?

The weather has been horrible here lately as you have read in may posts, but I have played fairly well anyway for the conditions. Apparently, I play worse when conditions are ideal. My wife and I flew out of snow and 16º on Wednesday, and yesterday we played Indian Canyons GC North Course in Palm Springs. Sunny and 68º with no wind... shot 87. But it was the short game that left me. Front 9 par 35 was +11... back 9 par 37 was +4 for a smooth 87. On the front 9 I couldn't get the speed right and I didn't know where Indio was, even though I've played this course many times. Hopefully, I got the "after travel bad round" out of my system. 12 more days until we fly home. View from behind the #9 green, and my wife and I with her brother on the left.

  31. Yea you can go and look at my roster if you want. I kid, I kid. It's too early to tell. Quick breakdown of FAAB for those new to it. Alright, so start off by selecting the player you want. On the right hand side of the screen a reddish box will appear, asking for a bid amount. Bid how much you think it will cost to get him. Keep in mind others may want him, but also keep in mind that you have a budget. $2 = 1% of your budget for the rest of the year. Bid sizes are from $0 to $200 in $1 increments. Yes you can bid $0 and win. Myself and @GolfSpy Stroker did this quite a bit in football(him more than me). You just have to hope that nobody else bids, if you bid $0. Also, if 2 players bid the same on a player, tie goes to the player that bid first. These waivers will run every Tuesday morning at 5am. Dropped players will go to waivers until 5am Wednesday giving people time to bid on them as well. If any player makes it through waivers without a bid, then they are a free agent and can be claimed by anyone immediately at no cost.

  39. I received mine yesterday. I’m going to be a bit redundant, but it is a critical point. I caddie/coach/play and fit. My exposure to technology in Golf has brought me to a cynical beginning perspective. There was a time when I thought Trackman was the greatest thing since Titleist introduced the Professional. Nowadays I’m much more “it’s going to have to make the game better/faster on a $1=$1 basis”. In other words, I would spend my hard earned money with Arccos, I am impressed with Mizuno’s shaft optimizer, and I would invest in the company that is going to bring non-conforming equipment to the general golfer I meet that swings it 80 mph. I’m testing this against the whole arsenal. Bushnell, the best app’s on my iPhone, and Strackaline pin sheets in addition to yardages that are on sprinkler heads. It’s going to have to do a whole lot for me to say “go spend $300 and buy a yearly membership”.

  49. There is an annual subscription that boils down to 3 annual plans. Statewide ($30), countrywide ($50), or worldwide access ($60), with incentives for buying multiyear subscriptions. Since I live on the border of two states and I play golf in both, I would lean towards the countrywide subscription. Skycaddie was very generous to provide us with a worldwide subscription for this test. If you guys know some people who know some people, I will be HAPPY to test out the traveling option in other countries. SkyGolf (parent company) claims on the website that this device will track stats, I haven't dug in to figure out how detailed or the nature of the stat collection. I will find out and report on that during this review. If only Maryland were a little closer the Carolinas....if I ship my Skycaddie to you, will you send it back with a burger? Well the Skycaddie doesn't accept phone calls nor text messages, so that's a start? I think that by the end of this test the accuracy and ease of use will be key. I have used a number of phone apps, especially when I started swinging the sticks 4 years ago, and I gravitated away from using phone apps. I am planning on having a direct head-to-head using what the course gives us. Physical markers, sprinkler heads, scorecard measurements etc. While doing that I will take note of the markers, as well as scorecard measurements to judge for accuracy. If I can get the okay--I've got an additional plan to judge for accuracy.
