sirchunksalot
I ordered a hitting mat the other day and it came in the mail today. It's a Callaway 8x16 that I thought would be good enough to get in the backyard and work on some short chips. I set up an old plant container and proceeded to try to get one in. I didn't sink one, but it did give me the opportunity to work on ball position, ball flight, and just making better strikes. sirchunksalot
I got back outside today to spend more quality time with the new hitting mat working on short chips. Right now I have an old flower container with a diameter of about 12" that I'm using as my target. I still haven't landed one in it, but did have one bounce in and a couple more that hit it. I would have taken a picture, but the yard needs mowing and didn't think I'd expose y'all to that mess. One of the things I've discovered about my chipping is that I have WAY too much tension in my swing. That, and I also discovered that I'm gripping the club really tight with my right hand. So today was just focus on nice and loose swings. sirchunksalot
Here's my chipping set up. I took a good bit of the day to cut the grass, so I didn't get as much practice time in. I had issues with my mower, too and had to run to the auto parts store to buy a new spark plug. The flower pot is about 11 yards away and makes for a nice target to focus on. I did move the mat back at the end of the evening so I had a 15 yard distance to play with. sirchunksalot
Spent some more time in the yard working on chipping. After seeing some video on here from members using editors, I decided to give one a try. I still need to play with it some more, it's a little finicky to crop and I think I might have put the same shot in a couple of times toward the end. I had to completely edit the first 6 shots out where I bladed every one. I also did that toward the end and you'll see my target gets turned over from hitting it.
