Finally got to do some “chipping” after what seems forever.
Was pleased with results after 4+ months.IMG_3243.jpg

Actually I was chipping better today than I was last summer.
Probably because I was trying not to hurt my shoulder and focused. Putter was also working.

Other than hitting in a few simulators over the winter, I made it to the range yesterday and hit balls for the first time since Late November. The results seemed shockingly good, for the most part. I'm wondering if the work with the Orange Whip over the winter has helped with my tempo some? Time will tell, but I am encouraged as of right now. I was primarily focused on maintaining what felt like good tempo.

I was at the range yesterday, and did not have the best session.  I have been at the range now 4 times, and the previous 3 sessions I felt successful in being able to strike the ball in the way that I saw it in my mind,

I'm not sure what the difference was yesterday, but I could not stop striking the ball off of the heel of the club.  I adjusted my grip, stance, and even the length of back swing, but could not stop hitting the heel.

This is the time where I become frustrated that I have only had one lesson.  I do not know enough yet to fix a swing flaw in my game when it appears. I am looking forward to scheduling a series of lessons this spring to increase the knowledge of my swing with a live instructor vs. my ignorant attempts to change my results in practice.

Did a lot of short game practice today. Roughly 1000 shots. Practiced shots with my 58, then 54,50,pw,9,8, and hybrid. I did this from all over the short game area. Practiced high shots to tight bump and runs. Gotta build an arsenal for golf :)

1,000 shots, Wow. That’s about a season for me.

Testing Game Improvement 7 irons today and my ball striking was horrible.  Everything was either a pull hook or push.  After testing was over,  spent some time hitting irons.  I think I was standing too close to the ball and just fighting my swing.  Will find out tomorrow if my swing is any better when I test 5 irons.

Maybe you need some blades?

(Yes I know you were testing for the most wanted)

But they were game improvement irons,  I shouldn't be able to curve them 🙂

Doc has approved me for “chipping & putting” only. Feels really good being out on the greens again.
Have done 3 days putting only, so far the putter feels like a heavy Garden Weasel.
Going to give short chips a try tomorrow.
Yes, I am smiling.IMG_3225.JPG.a7c5a0393017ab253d187b2f6b665a76.JPG

Worked on my driving and also my short irons. Averaged 243 with driver which is 25 yards plus longer than before SuperSpeed.

And dead straight yesterday 9/10 fairways out on the course (picked a hole and hit 10 drives)

The SuperSpeed has done wonders for you, you’re fitness regimen has also been a benefit.
Great job Rev!

Beautiful day today so I took the opportunity to go work on some pitching and putting.    Didn't do much putting practice as it is aeration season her so I just worked on the gate drill for about 20 minutes.  Spent about 2 hours working on my pitching and dialing in distances.  By the end,  I was making great contact and got a pretty good feel for distance control.

Spent a good amount of time working on remembering what my ball flight is and how to execute that. I was having good success with my 52 and my 9 iron. About 60% success with my 7 iron and then total meltdown with my 5 iron.

Perhaps I have a mental block with my 5 iron up to my hybrid. I can’t find the tempo and consistent ball flight with them the same way I do with my 6 iron on down.

Hit a medium bucket (70 balls) at Hermann Park in Houston. They only have mats, but it was REALLY good to get range work in.
Took videos, and sent them to Mike Bender for a lesson! Looking forward to the feedback!

Had the intention of playing an 18 hole Par 3 course about 45 minutes away (if light traffic) .. only to get there and see it's closed.... Thought they were open full time after April 1st but guess not...

So while I was down at the beach...

Walked over to the empty picnic area behind the dunes, so partially sheltered from the wind, took out the 58° and a ball and practiced some sand shots! Drew a line about an inch and a half behind the ball, set up to that, and focused on hitting the line and "splashing" the ball up.

Hit a few ok enough but this is the weakest area of my game and still needs a LOT more work!
