yungkory
100 - around age 10 from the front tees 90 - A few years later when I started to understand how you're meant to hit down on the ball with the shorter clubs. My uncles and Grandpa made me move back a tee once this started happening 80 - sometime last year. Felt like I was living in the 80s forever but in reality I took a break from golf after high school and for basically the entirety of my 20s. Took me a good 2 years of really trying to finally shoot 79 dlow206, JohnSmalls, silver & black and 1 other 4 Quote Driver: Rogue ST Max LS Tensei AV Blue S 3w/5w: TSi2 Tensei AV Raw Blue S 4h: CLK 22* Hybrid Tensei CK Pro Blue 80HY S Irons 5-PW: 223 Steelfiber PR 95 S Wedges: RTX Zipcore Tour Rack 50, 54, 58 Steelfiber PR 105 Putter: LAB Link.1 Ball: Z-Star Diamond

dlow206
For me, my golf journey has been very off and on. 100 - Shot a 96 around age 10. I was pretty natural at golf at that time, but then I quit after about a year or year and a half. Played for about another year total in my 20s and never broke 100 again. Got back into golf back in July 2019 and started playing regularly on the course back in Jan/Feb 2020. First month or two was shooting 110+. Figured out how to hit a driver and have some sort of short game and I am back down to high 90s to low 100s. 90 - haven't broken 90 yet, but think I can get there with better putting alone. also it would help if i didn't hit driver on every non-par 3. sirchunksalot and tommc23 2 Quote Follow my golf journey to break into the 80s Tester for the Titleist TSi Driver Spring 2020 MGS Tester for the Fujikura Motore X Shaft Updated 07/15/2022 Driver: Rogue St Max LS - Autoflex Fairway Woods: Rogue Max St 3HL and 7 Wood Irons: JPX 921 Hot Metal 5 to AW - Aerotech Steelfiber i95 Stiff parallel tip Wedges: Glide 4.0 54 and 58 Putter: PLD Custom Kushin

bonvivantva
When I brought a hand-me-down set back to college after fall break one year and played with my college roommates, I didn't keep score for the longest time. I broke 100 on a golf trip in Myrtle Beach for the first time on the last round of the trip, maybe 6 years ago or so, which was about 8 years after I started golfing. I shot pretty consistently in the mid 90s to low 100s until just recently. I finally broke 90 in May shooting an 87. Then the very next time out on a full course last weekend (blame the pandemic), I shot another personal best 82. dlow206 1 Quote Titleist 913D2 Ping G2 3W Ping G2 3H 18*, 4H 22* Mizuno JPX900 Cleveland CBX 56, 60 Odyssey White Hot RX #2 Snell MTBX
Pooter McGavin
100- within 1st year. First time I kept score was 130. 90- 2nd year 80- 3-5 years can't really remember 70- I've been playing about 15 years now and am not sure I want to play/practice enough to do it. I was starting to give up hope then I played a round from the kids tees (66). I've put up a 71 last year and a 70 this year so it may happen. dlow206

Micah T
I started playing in 2016: Broke 100 - early 2017(45 rounds:23 handicap)Broke 90 - late 2017(95 rounds: 14.5 handicap)Broke 80 - late 2018(140 rounds: 9.6 handicap)Broke 70 - ? (200+ rounds: 6.6 handicap) I caught the golf bug hard: I play 2-4 times a week, and practice 3-5 times a week for about 2 hours each session. Even with all that practice, my handicap goes up 2-3 strokes for about 2 months to start the season before it starts coming back down. I thought this year would be the year I would break 70; (I got fitted for a Driver and putter) but just playing to last years low handicap has been a struggle: I’m not ready to say I’ve regressed, but I’ve definitely hit a plateau... HardcoreLooper
I didn't have the opportunity to play golf regularly until I started caddying in 8th grade (age 14). I first broke 100 late that summer. I broke 90 the following summer and 80 the summer after that. I've broken par for 9 holes (-2 is my lowest, and I've been -1 a few times), but I've never broken par for 18 holes on a "real" golf course. +1 is my best so far. These days I play quite a bit of golf on a 4600 yard par 66 executive course with a course rating of 62.4/105. I've shot 65 there a couple of times, but I'd need to shoot 62 or less to consider that a special round. Cory O
Really never played golf outside of messing around at the range until I was 16/17. A football injury took me out of all my regular sports and I was working at a golf course so I really jumped in. Broke 100, 90, and 80 within the next year. Broke 70 for the first time when I was 19 and maybe 4 times total over the next two years (at fairly easy courses I’ll admit). Gave up the game for about 5 years at 21, then while living in Korea I became a fairly hardcore screen golfer (simulator rooms). I was a +2 handicap at that, but it really is a different game.Shot 71 (-1) last month, that’s the closest I’ve been to the sixties on a full sized course since my university days. Hopefully have one to post about again soon. Quote 2024 is the year of the short set!
