Want to buy the whole set?

Just for fun, I went on line to price buying a complete new set of Titleist clubs with my preferred specs, shafts and grips.

I included all the options one might want available to him/her except I limited it to one driver and I did not include a putter.

[Scotty makes great putters but no models that I like.]

More than a new suit; less than a new car.

I'll stick with what I've got for now.

to be fair, i’ve spent more than that on a suit.

$6000 seems like a bargain for TWENTY FOUR clubs.

i've got a second home in florida, so i put a second bag together for down there.

14 clubs set to my specs, plus the bag for less than $1000.

i'm sure i'm only one of dozens of examples of a complete bag being built on a tight budget.

complaining about sticker shock when you built almost two complete bags from driver to wedge is insane.

I'm not really sure what the point you're trying to make is here Boston Sal. Yes, if you buy a lot of clubs with a lot of options, it will cost a lot of money. Also, people will buy what they can afford or what they like. It goes back to the Rolex or Fossil argument, both tell time, but I may prefer one or the other for other reasons and that's my prerogative.

If you feel like you need to have all those options to be a complete golfer and set yourself up for any conditions, I'm sure there are companies that you could do it for less with, or for more if that's your thing. For the mere mortals of us though, I believe 14 clubs, maybe with one to rotate in and out, will suffice just fine.

Definitely, RB.  I was just curious as to what the complete set with options might cost.

Cart bags have no more than fifteen slots and even a huge staff bag wouldn't comfortable carry 25 clubs if we add one putter.

They also have these pro shop display bags which are bigger than Staff bags.   They're over a foot in diameter.

Nobody is going to carry one stuffed with twenty-five clubs, and I'm not sure if it could be strapped onto a cart.

Obviously, nobody is going to buy the complete set like that.  Maybe one option or two at most.

I was simply curious what it might cost to have a complete set--for a collector, perhaps.

I certainly wasn't suggesting that any of us would need such a set--or even want it.

My driver is a Titleist Howitzer which cost me $300 in 1990s money.

It was considered a serious extravagance at the time, but I've gotten a quarter century out of it and still find no real need to upgrade.

None of the fibers in the shaft seem broken as it still pops big from a geriatric's swing like mine.

It's just had a few grips.

As for options, I do have two sets of fairway woods to go with it.

Titleist PT's that I bought myself in 17, 20, 23° lofts.   15° is a bit strong for me off the deck and I didn't even buy it back then.

Also my late uncle's Top Flite Intimidator 400s in 16, 21, 25, and 29º.  They cost me zip.  He gave them to me well before he died.

I also have several Titleist Vokey Spin Milled wedges to choose from, some bought new, some used, and covering several generations of the Spin Milled franchise.

Only my irons are new, bought late this season, and retiring MP52s bought in 2009.

So no, under no circumstance was I suggesting that I or anyone else might buy the set I described

I was just curious as to what a set like that would cost.
