Stuka44
I layer up ( 2 long sleeves, a sweater, and vest), and winter golf gloves are a must for me. My brother and I will walk the first 9, not cold yet get some body heat up, which carries us comfortably through the first 9. Tom the Golf Nut
Winter typically isn't that bad in my area. An extra layer up top. Maybe a pair of winter golf gloves. But I do switch to a softer ball. Clubs remain the same except for the sand wedge. I switch to one with a thinner sole. The traps get firmer and I'm trying to avoid a bounce off the firmer sand and the resulting skull. It also works better from the dormant fairways. sirchunksalot, Stuka44, Larryd3 and 1 other 4 Quote Driver, TSi 1 S Flex 3 wood, Aerojet Max UST Helium Nanocore R Flex 5 wood, Aerojet Max UST Helium Nanocore R Flex 7 Wood, Aerojet Max UST Helium Nanocore R Flex 5 Hybrid King Tec MMT R Flex Irons, Tour UST Recoil 95 R Flex (6 - Gap) Wedges, Snakebite KBS Hi- Rev2.0 54* & 60* Agera 35" Ultralight 14-way Cart Bag Link to comment

JFish350
I will walk to keep the blood flowing. I'll wear long pants nd bring rain pants with to keep the wind out best I can. Top I'll layer more and wear tee shirt, long sleeve, medium weight pull over and a rain jacket. Any more than that and I feel constricted with my swing. I won't take a cart as its cart path only at most courses around here. That leads to more walking than if I just walk. Shapotomous
Layers, hand warmers and a knit hat. ballplayer002003
I put on a winter base layer (underarmour type shirt), a long sleeve and then a nice 3/4 zip pullover. I typically don't like too many layers because it really impedes the swing. The main thing I do differently though is walk. That way I am constantly moving and often times I may take a layer off. Full disclosure, I typically run hot anyway and living in Delaware we don't get days that are too bad, I will play in temps in the low 40's, but probably not go below that unless there is a lot of sun and no wind. russtopherb
I layer up, thin thermals underneath then a quarter zip, thin jacket that's technically for biking but I wear it on the course, and a vest. I'll throw my rain pants on if it's windy occasionally. I'll play in the mid 40's if it's a sunny day, but to be fair I kind of enjoy the offseason sometimes too. I don't feel the need to golf year round. But once February hits I'm usually itching to get out there. Middler
Like others here, I rely on layers and gloves, and using an extra club or two. Wind is a big factor in winter for me. I won’t play if it’s below mid 30’s “real feel” starting out. And I won’t play in the rain in winter. I agree walking is preferable in winter as “cart path only” with riding carts results is almost as much walking anyway, can be a PITA. I’ve used the chemical hand warmers occasionally and they help a little, but Fireball or bourbon work better. Stuka44
My brother and I will actually play regardless of the outside temperature. As long as there is no snow on the ground we will play. We have played many times when the ground is frozen solid, and its in 30's at tee off. This actually provides a skill challenge in winter time, you can't land the ball on the green, because that is like the ball hitting a paved parking lot, so you have to work on landing it short of the green and bouncing it up on.. We're not worried about score, its just about getting in swings, and reducing the amount of time when the spring comes and people say" I haven't swung a club since.....!" Besides I don't duck hunt anymore, kids are grown and don't want to go sled riding in the winter time, so I would almost literally be left with sitting and staring out the window for 3-4 months until mid-March, or April would come. ballplayer002003 and cnosil 2 Quote Driver: Cobra King Speedzone Irons: Mavrik 4-GW Wedges: CG-14 56 & RTX 52 Hybrid: Callaway Apex Pro 2H Woods: Gigagolf 3W, Putter: Ping Scottsdale Wolverine Ball: Srixon Z-Star XV Link to comment
