Let me start off by saying that this was the sh****est golf course I have ever come across. I thought I didn’t mind playing municipal courses but this place showed me I was wrong. It was just mud and puddles everywhere. Even in the fairways.

It used to be a par 73 but hole 3 was changed from a par 4 to a par 3. I'm a little embarrassed for posting this round.  It's not my best.  In my defense, here in Key West we had mid to high 50's and 25 mph winds making it an adventure.  At least we were not hit with falling iguanas!

image.png.014e15f0f3f8af2ca190b311eb2d84ab.png

Lots of wasted shots.  Only 2 up and downs where I typically average 5 or so.  Fairways at 64% is about two fairways less than I normally hit.  Throw in an unusual three putt and it's not something I'm overly proud of.  Then again, under those conditions down here at the end of the earth, it was more about survival.

Just in case anyone was thinking about it, yes, I wore shorts.  Three layers above the waist, but I wore shorts!

Horrible first round at Heritage Isles……45 putts! Guess the greens will take some getting used to. I usually have about 32 putts, so I am 13 strokes off my game…..LOL.  Gotta get used to it as this will be my new home.

recent good form bubble burst a little toda, but still managed a decent round.

I seem to want to throw in a triple every round at the moment. My partners see it as handicap protection!!!

Tripled the 17th today, drove into the trees had a relatively easy punch out to the green and duffed it, thinned a 56' wedge into the bushes thru the back, penalty drop, chip and 2 putts for a 7.

This was the worst place I have ever laid eyes on. When I travel, I usually just try to find a close place that isn’t too expensive. I should have known something was up when I got a sunrise tee time and it was only about $25/person without a cart.

The pictures I took were the worst of it but the rest of the course wasn’t much better. A bad round of golf is better than no golf but this place was BARELY better than nothing. It definitely makes me appreciate other courses that I previously considered to be janky.

Looking at the stats below, they do not reflect me shooting my best score in almost two months.  I hit only 50% of my fairways (which is about a third less than normal).  My greens in regulation was up a little bit (17% versus 11%).  It was my up and downs (5) and putting better (only 27 putts) that made a difference.

To make it even more difficult on the first tee, I put my "new toy" in play without any practice!  I picked up a great condition L.A.B. Direct Force 2.1 putter off of eBay that had the exact specifications I got from my virtual fitting.  I made two or three longish one putts with it today.  I can't wait to see what happens when I get more comfortable with it.

No score again for me this week.  Normally would go out tomorrow, but since it's the 1st, we have family plans and Osechi is being done at our house this year.  Monday however...

Starting off Week 15 and the first round of the new year will be at Ghost Creek.  I "may" have played it once, but would have been during a vendor sponsored event about 22 years ago.  Wasn't even slightly competent (as if I am now) then, but was happy to take the day off of work, drink their booze, take their swag and be an idiot.  I used the golf umbrella I got there up until last year.  Too bad it said Sun Microsystems and not Pumpkin Ridge.  Oh well.  We'll see how it goes, it's a tough course and the weather's supposed to be damp.

For Week 16, I have a time lined up at Indian Wells Celebrity Course.  Friday the 13th!  Should be good.  Going to try to take my own clubs and save the $75 rental fee.  From the looks of it, if I play from the Green Tees it should be about as challenging as Glendoveer East, so may have a chance at an ok score.  Less hilly, so maybe I won't get tuckered out the last few holes.  In either case, the first two rounds of the year should be a good contrast to each other.  I'm wondering if I'm shooting my wad early this year on nice courses and the rest of the year will be the muni tour.

Net Birdies or better 2
Longest Drive 332

Got out a bit this week and got two rounds in. Weather was better but not ideal. Good news is with all the wind, I was able to get some longer drives. I would rather have an easier round with less wind instead of long drives and having all my shots pushed around the course.

I gotta do better with my driver. #15 gave me the best shot with a 3W I've had all year. Sent it 263 yds wich is just about 15 yds short of my average driver distance. Anyways, it was a pretty good round, short game just wans't helping much so I missed a lot of opportunities.

Enjoy the pics.691402B7-A0C8-4852-85E2-B34F262BCFB3.jpeg.38d874e00e74f5839a8d0de8996ae3f1.jpeg63659027-0ABD-4E82-8BDA-EAD12DA406A6.jpeg.d239fbed3450cba7c6292586d6f10ff6.jpeg6FE4B336-54FA-46A5-B604-CC046A24F769.jpeg.dfcb1e7956172bae3b0d051238892a64.jpegF38FB39F-F6C9-47DA-8106-394E4B754317.jpeg.2ddfbff73031f7a6b6a0419a713dda7a.jpeg

Ok I'll stop complaining about the condition of my course. It looks like they've tried to salvage it but it has a long ways to go.

Welcome to the LAB Spaceship Family 🙂 Loving mine something fierce - hope you keep getting along with it.

My playing partners commented on how well the ball came off the LAB putter face.  It felt very comfortable, especially since I've relied on a forward press.  The combination of the face loft and the forward press gets me to the almost zero effective putter loft that my past putter fittings said I should have.

Thank you for the kind welcome words and I look forward of being the Southernmost L.A.B. putter advocate!

OH how I have missed this thread. I've been busy with work, Family, Holidays etc etc. I will be playing my first round since Thanksgiving week. I haven't even swung a club since them.  Gong to be interesting as I signed myself up for a match play tourney at Langdon Farms here in Willsonville OR. Hopefully I'll be able to post a score not knowing how the tourney will I may not be able to play out holes if/when I get waxed on a hole.

Good Luck everyone, Hoping you all have good weather and actual grass in the fairways.

WEEK 14 FINAL LEADERBOARD

MYGOLFSPY FORUM MEMBER CHAMPIONSHIP TOUR

====================================================

The last week of the year and we had 14 individual scores posted.

Great way to end the year strong Spies!!

WEEK 14 WINNERS

Low Net Score To Par:

image.png  image.png

Posting the ONLY sub par net score of the week, The MGS Forum Black Jacket this week will be worn by @Golf2Much and his 2 under (-2) round of net 68 at Key West GC.  Congratulations!  Finishing just behind were @Blueberry_Squishie and @vandyland with their even net par rounds at Werribee Park and Towhee GC respectively.

Most Birdies or Better:

image.png  image.png

We had a tie for the top spot this week with 6 Net Birdies or Better - and since the Black Jacket badge is already awarded to @Golf2Much this week's Birdie Badge goes to @Blueberry_Squishie!  Close behind the leaders with 5 Net Birdies or Better was @PeterHenric.  Great shooting to all.

Longest Drive:

image.png  image.png

As if one 300+ yard drive wasn't good enough... @snicerz added a second drive over 300 yards to hedge his bets - claiming the top two longest drives of the week.   The winning drive was 341 yards and his 2nd was 332 yards.  @Blueberry_Squishiecontinues his long drive showing with a 326 yarder.

What a great way to end 2022!  I guess I need to take advantage of a limited field during the winter months and/or people too busy (or hung over) for golf during the holidays.  Whatever reason, I'm honored to display the Black Jacket badge this week!
