Popular Post Erin B
49 minutes ago, GospelnGolf said: I NEED OPINIONS!!! Good morning my fellow golf kinsmen! I was up at my usual 0400 this Lord's day, thanking God for the rain that the earth stores, which in turn blesses His creation as it awakens to Spring. But then, I quickly asked Him for some beautiful sunshine and warm weather so that all of His golfing children can go outside to play! Amen! Well, I couldn't sleep last night, which is basically every night, so I worked on refinishing an old set of game improvement irons. I just had a total knee replacement on January 8th, followed by a manipulation under anesthesia this past Friday, Mar 1, because my body insanely produces scar tissue and adhesions at a rapid rate and my knee had become "stiff"; I prefer the term "locked-up"! Can you say pain train??? Anyway, I'm not sure how my swing speed will be this year, so for the sake of distance, I thought I may need to bust out the old 2019 Big Bertha irons. I currently hit Callaway Epic Forged irons, so these Big Berthas look like tanks attached to a stick. I feel I am a good ways out from healing enough to play good golf, but I will eventually get there. Any opinions on temporarily switching irons???? Has anyone out here in spy country been where I am now??? Thanks for any replies and God Blees you all this day! Semper Fi!!! I am kind of feeling the same way you are. I have had several back surgeries from my active duty days and am finding that my body is struggling to keep up with my mind. I practiced on Thursday, strained a muscle in my back, then played on Friday only swinging at about 75%, and still feel stiff and sore. I was in Denver yesterday and talked to the PGA Superstore and they recommended another fitting. I was going to do this anyway, but they solidified my decision. I get a fitting every year usually around mid season, but am going to get one sooner. I made the switch from Xstiff in driver and fairways to stiff last year, but am still in Xstiff in irons. I did switch to a player distance iron in January. I bought DTC New Level irons. I got them at a discount because luckily New Level was discontinuing them after they recommended them to me based on my numbers. Anyway, to answer your question about a set of club to switch to; I would look at DTC clubs because, for me it would be hard to look down at a tank, and for about $600 you can get some great, sleek irons. I'd bet you could sell those other tank irons for $300 or more on ebay or marketplace, which would help ease the cost of a new purchase. I would go get re-fitted, or re-evaluated so you have good data to get recommended a set that would fit you best. I like Takomo, and would have bought them but for custom clubs they take a while. New Level took 8 days. Just my two cents, and I hope you get to feeling more yourself soon. Happy Birdie Hunting! On the 3rd hole I chipped in from 38 yards for a birdie and heard an audible gasp/squeak. Very embarrassing when I realized no one else was around and the noise was from me. I worked very hard with PT after the surgery, but due to the injuries I sustained to the knee in Iraq in 2006 and having to wait 18 freaking years until I was 50 before the VA would allow the replacement, swelling made it impossible for me to do the stretches; hence the stiff knee and need for the MUA. Now though, after the MUA, I can do the stretches and exercises extremely well. I am constantly researching for info that will add support to my current regimen. So, all of that to explain why I am greatly appreciative for the info. Watching Jake Knapp's swing tempo this weekend adds testament to that fact! Thank you sir. Cfhandyman
32 minutes ago, GospelnGolf said: Brother, I can't thank you enough for the resource! Semper Fi! More than happy to help and glad you found it helpful That’s the wonderful thing about the forum, there are very many helpful and kind people here. Joint replacement is not necessarily easy, just a lot of hard slogging till you get your range of motion back and start moving normally. Continue to get better and all the best.
