Didn't get enough sleep, and my left hand started killing me 2 holes in. Still was not a bad round, my putting and approaches were abysmal though  Glad to be back to posting scores though!

Not too shabby for an irons only round with a set of muscle back blades. 

Going into this challenge, i was nervous about not using my woods or wedges, but it all turned out just fine.

Obviously, when the longest club in the bag is a 4i Utility club, my long drive for the round was a little shorter than usual.

And lastly, the shot of the day was a 9i I hit to 3 feet from the hole on 10.

No worries, -33 would have been an absolutely mind blowing round.  I entered my net over par instead of gross over par, too tired while posting.

Not too much to say about this round. Pretty short and easy course and could have broke par but I kept hitting drives to far and getting into bad spots. Thank god the wedges and putter were working for me.

2nd round of Irons-Only for the Cobra Challenge.

As with the first round, I had a blast forcing myself to only rely on my irons to get me around the course.  I'm starting to really come into these clubs, and this round will probably push me over the edge between this set and my gamers.

95° and 75% humidity equaled 105° heat index this morning. In spite of that, 13 of us did meet for a round of golf. Unfortunately, there was a “Ryder Cup-style” tournament with another club ahead of us, and it took 3 hours to play 9 holes. I had to wear rain gloves to hold on to the clubs. 
 

We decided replay the front 9, but a thunderstorm was brewing so we decided to quit. It then rained for 3-4 hours, but I’m not sure. I was home, showered, fed, and napping. I did order some new Best Grip Black Micro Perforated Mid Size grips. They do not slip with sweaty hands. 
 

Other than not holding on to the club today, I excised my demons and was playing well, considering there was a significant wait on the tee box and for the greens to clear.

Two weeks away from my sticks, traveling to Peru with SheWhoMustBeObeyed, so was very happy with my round. Driver was unpredictable but I haven’t forgotten how to use Aimpoint and believe that and my wedge game saved me.

Played a private club today with some other's from my work who belong to this club.

Used a "new to me" Callaway Paradygm driver, so pleased with the fairways hit for the first time using this club.

Greens were about 12 on the Stimp scale, so I putted accordingly, no 3 putts and used caution when putting to be safe of no more than a 2 putt green.

Man putting killed me today, dropped 5 strokes on the lip of the cup. Wind was swirling a bit and my driver was attrocious. I actually hit my 3 wood 352 (306 carry with a slight downhill roll) . These stealth 2+ are not joke. Best part, my wife threw a plus 26 out today and played amazing for a 45.2 index. She was loving her new R15 driver. She even made her first birdie today on a massive part 4. So proud of her!

Ugh.  Knew I was struggling with my swing from the first hole... but held it together for the front 9 with a 39... but then lost my focus (maybe too much mid-day heat... maybe too hard to focus on a poor swing day for 18 full holes) and rallied with several double bogeys on the back 9 for a crowd pleasing 50.  Impressive stat... I had ZERO penalty strokes.  So each of those 50 strokes on the back nine... are all genuine.  High 5's all around!!  Highlight of the day?  Nope.  

Of course, came home... showered/cooled off... grabbed a bite for lunch... walked out to my home range... and within 3 swings... had it all figured out.... again.  Course is closed today (which is probably a good thing or I would be out there punishing myself in feels like 115* temps this afternoon after work, after that embarrassing round yesterday. 

Love this game.

Better this week. Had some hiccups, especially when hitting the driver. Pretty much played my 2H 19 degree since i can hit it straight(er) than any other club off the tee. I had one better drive, but still not enough to fee confident taking it out. winning 2 pins and a skin (with a par) helped ease the pain

My best round played this year. High 70’s and sunny but had to fight strong gusts of wind for most of the day. The 6th hole I had an eagle opportunity, striped a 5 iron to 20’ for a downhill look. My first putt went long and had a look at 4’ putt for birdie that I proceeded to lip out and tapped in for par. Played par golf to finish out the front 9.

The back nine my driver went cold and struggled to find a fairway. This was the first round in a long time I didn’t blade one of my wedges across the green, small victory for my short game. Overall, the Course was playing at a good pace for a late Sunday morning round, finished just in over 4 hours. 
 

Note: Wish I’d grabbed a photo or video the two fawns playing on the green at the par 3, #3 as were preparing to tee-off

Was trolling along pretty well up until the head snapped off of my driving iron on 14....was +7 until then. I couldn't shake that out of my head and finished +2 on the last 4. Still broke 80 without my A game so I am pretty happy about that.

Shorter course but gives the option to hit a variety of clubs off the tee which is fun. Perfect course for when the driver isn't working but you want to play a fun course still. If the driver is going then there are a few drivable 4's - love a course with a few high risk/high reward holes.

 

Game felt really good and it led to my second lowest score on the season. Just put some new wedges in the bag (Taylormade MGs) and really enjoyed how they played. They have a lot heavier shafts that my current (maybe no longer?) kirkland wedges and it really helped with strike consistency around the greens. I did notice with the heavier shafts, I need to put a bit 'oomph' in the swing from 50 yards in but I like that it forces me to put a bit more into the swing. When I need to finesse a shot too much that is when my chunks/things tend to happen. I found they put a bit more bite on the short chips as well, so came up short a lot. Once I get comfortable with them I think my short game confidence is going to skyrocket.

Irons only round. The short course didn't matter, I didn't have my best striking game with me, plus missing 6 clubs this was doomed from the start. 4 gir were on hole 1-4. Was even pat at that point before bogey or worse on the next 6 holes. Made a few putts on the back 9 to keep the score respectable, but I am not equipped for a challenge like this obviously.
