Well, since I’ve boarded my last flight to St. Louis. Story time.

In August of 2022 I got news that my dad had cancer. The extent wouldn’t be found until four months later when it was found to be stage 4. My brother and I knew it was only a matter of time before he was gone. I told him I’d be surprised if he was still with us January of 2024. Well 2016 I had did the ancestry dna kit to see my countries of origins. It was cool seeing all the places my ancestry took me. Fast forward to December of 2022, two months after I got married I got an email from ancestry telling me I had a new match. For some reason I opened it, as I had not ever opened one of them before. I saw it was my brother, but instead of saying sibling it said half-sibling. I called and spoke to him and we decided to keep that between us two. But this led to looking into more stuff. We found that I was the John Snow (if anyone gets that, you get to start 2 under in your next round of golf). The man who I grew up knowing as my dad passed away in November of last year. It was a rough time. My brother and I made a decision we were going to confront our mom about it. She confirmed that I was the John Snow. With the help from ancestry website and 23andMe, I found two people I reached out to on my biological fathers side both would be an aunt and uncle. I got a response back and have been talking to that side of the family I have never known or met since March of this year. I found and have also been talking to my biological father since March as well. I am flying back to Missouri to actually meet him and a few other members of that side of the family for the first time. To say I’m excited, nervous, and all emotions in between is an understatement. But I told my wife I wanted to meet him first in order to make sure he is a good person. There was a week or so I would hit the forum hot and be off and running in numerous areas of the forum. But between testing the SQAIRZ Velo shoes and trying to get to know my biological dad, I’ve taken a back seat to posting as much. I’m hoping these next 5 days goes well so I can foster a relationship with him and that side of the family. So that’s my story right now.

I wish you the best of circumstances and hope you will be able to move forward with them, if that is what you want.

@Josh Parker Texas is the number 1 state in truck sales for all of the OEM manufacturers, and a market they all seem to be heavily involved in making sure they meet the requirements of the end user consumer.

Ha, yeah I'm not surprised. I mean we all know everyone rides a horse around and works cattle. Haha.

Good evening late night spies! Chilling here at home wishing I was on a golf course. It's supposed to be rainy tomorrow, plus I have a basketball camp to coach, so no golf for me unfortunately. I have a tournament Friday though, so I'm hoping to get some good practice in tomorrow night or Friday morning to sure some things up. Hope to see some low scores this weekend!

Well… IF and when the purchase of the vehicle is made for the finicky female, afterwards it will be  doubtful if I even have any pockets left, let alone anything to put in them.

That's what I love to hear! I'm glad it has worked out for you so far. It's really soft off the face, but has a great feel to it. And I thought the line "Nothing feels like a Mizuno" only applies to the irons! Good luck with the round and let me know how it goes!

I would have gladly taken it over the 95 I shot today 🙃

The +24 was a PB for me and I have to thank the Mizuno M.Craft and my wedges for bailing me out. The Qi10 Max was nowhere to be seen during the round and my irons showed up late to the party on the back 9. Overall, still a lot to get back out and chase.

Great round @Erin B. I find it interesting how those rounds seem to come out of nowhere sometimes.

Sitting here listening to my LSSBB course lecture and my brain doesn't want to focus on the information at all. FIL had a scan today and received approval for a whole new host of tests from the oncologist. As if this situation wasn't enough, my wife's sister apparently is in the ER for her own self-inflicted health issues. She has been going through some pretty serious consequences of alcoholism and my wife said she can barely recognize her with the way she looks now. Unfortunately, she doesn't seem to want to get help, and my wife is stuck in the middle of the whole situation because she knows what is probably causing a lot of the guilt that her sister is going through, but she's stuck with whether it's her place to tell that to people so that her sister can get help or not. On the one hand, her sister clearly needs help, but it doesn't seem that she wants help, and my wife isn't sure whether it's her place to blow up that world with the information she knows.

With my FIL's current health situation, my wife and I are trying to figure out the best solution for the kids over the summer break. I work normal hours, and my wife works fluctuating hours being in retail, and neither of us are comfortable leaving our 7 year old and soon to be 10 year old by themselves at home. My FIL had been the one watching them while we were at work, but since he's pretty wiped out already and that's before any sort of treatment plan that will probably be decided in the future. Neither of us are really in a position to just take the summer off work or anything like that, so it's been a little complicated. Luckily, I'm semi-remote and we are trying to manage as best we can, but there are days where it just feels like a lot.

Good evening Spies, finally all power restored nearly 23 hours after it went out last night.

They replaced 3 downed poles, and straightened out 3 more which were at about 45-degree angles instead of 90 to the ground.

Day wasn't a total bust, as I did manage to take SWMBO to Carl's Golfland with me for a couple hours, it was air conditioned in the car and their facility, so I practiced outdoors while she visited with some of the people we know who work there.

Also, I did not come out empty handed, and only spent $3.15 total for a couple new clubs which will be put into play the next round for me on Monday. Think Callaway double trade-in made great sense for me today.

@RichL85 hang tough, we never get more than we can handle, and hopefully things work out for the best for you and your family. Will keep you in our thoughts and prayers.

@Erin B great round, and hopefully you have more low scores headed your way.

@Dead Solid Bogey hopefully the weather there improves, as it seems that the majority of the brunt actually was in Mexico, but Texas still very much impacted too.

Good evening gents. It’s was a good day for golf. After making a birdie, bogey, eagle on 7,8 and 9, I thought I was en route for another sub 70 day but it wasn’t meant to be. Struggled a little on the back off the tee but my chipping and putting saved my bacon. Finished with a 74 which is nothing to scoff at. Playing the same course again on Saturday so we’ll see if I can put it all together. Hope everyone has a great evening.

Evening spies! It's 930 pm and I'm just getting off duty and heading home! What a day!  Tomorrow is honey-do list day, and something planned with the lady boss for Saturday,  she won't say what though 😉

Sunday is GC duties,  then it's a new week.

Hopefully I can convince her to let me get some golf in!!!

Great to hear the spouse is taking a good turn @Erin B !

Another nice round! Game is coming along nicely.

I tend to have a schizophrenic approach to golf. Never know which personality is going to show up. LOL

I’m curious how others have either experienced of feel about submitting dna for the purpose of finding other relatives.

Many years ago, my mother did a lot of genealogy research of our family.  She had extensive records that I now have of her lineage and on my dads side going back to my great great grandfather that was born in Germany in 1819, photo included.   But my fathers dad passed before I was born, and have no records beyond his mother, my grandmother.  And I only saw her maybe 5 or 6 times in my life, living on opposite sides of the country.   I have no qualms about what may or may not be discovered with my dna, but I read an interesting book about 15 years ago that makes me leery.

@GaryF I haven't done the DNA test for relatives yet but I do use a free genealogy site called Family Search. It's been helpful amd interesting. They'll also send out emails sometimes about famous people you are related to. I'll also use Ancestry.com when they have free trials to do a little more digging. I struggled with my father's side a good bit til I had a breakthrough. After that, it was like the floodgates opened. I found out my 5th great-grandfather, James Higgins was a 1st Lt. in the American Revolution and my 9th great-grandfather, Richard Higgins landed in Massachusetts in 1623.

Thank you, I will check that site out.  I find it very interesting about some of my ancestors and on my dads side - his father or my grandfather that I never met was cousins with a famous race car driver and WW1 ace.  It was always mentioned word of mouth though that he would be my third cousin although their burial plots are next to each other.

And an irony that stunned me at the time.  My mom passed 10 years ago and much of her research was done in the 1970 to 1990s.  I was doing a search one day and there was a link to Ancestry.com.  It was an inquiry my mom wrote almost 40 years ago with someone’s reply. It was all written in first person, mentioning my name, dad and brother.  Stunned because it was like a conversation, as if it was taking place as I read it.  Same with a number of letters she wrote and copied, along with the replies.  Just a weird (not bad) feeling.

Rough round in between thunderstorms. We started on the back which is where most of the carnage happened. Struggled with the approach today; again. But it was windy, not an excuse, just failed to adjust. Front nine was better. Chipped in one birdie, barely missed chip ins for two more. These Titleist wedges are 🔥!!! I just felt like I left some shots out there. Three double bogeys doesn’t help. Trees were a problem on one hole. It was a scramble today. But it was fun!!!

Good evening folks,

My final is in the books. I missed 3 questions so I am in good spirits.

A 6hy that I ordered for my fiance arrived today and she is excited to try it out. I told her to try out one club before we buy anything further and I got it for the cheap-cheap. She knows I will not be attempting to teach her how to golf because lord knows I am still not very good at it. She is also aware that I will not take her to play with me either. This is all on her, so we will see what happens!

Have a great Friday night everybody!

Keep fighting the fight! I feel your struggle and we all support you! The group has been awesome for me and the spousal unit aka Commander in Chief. If you’re ever in Cheyenne let me know and we’ll get together for dinner or something. We’re praying for you and your family.

I could play golf every day and learn something new each time.
