Time for a lesson- it's been 4 weeks since my last good round with rounds ranging from "promising" to downright "disastrous." The problem mainly is distance. I've lost a full two clubs on every one of my irons and woods, and then will randomly get it back usually when I block a shot right. Last week I talked to the pro and showed him a video. He gave me a quick tip that took me back to the promising end of the spectrum yesterday. Carded the same 47 I did the last time I played this 9 in league but had a lot more shots go right where I aimed them and gained a few yards back. With the lesson today, I'm hopeful he will find the solution to my loss of distance. Hang in there. Keep a positive outlook as you dig into things. And have fun my man. Dweed
Played 9 today. Pretty windy, 20-25 but that seems to be the norm this year. Happy with the score but ball striking/aim was off a little bit. Only hit 1/2 of the greens that I normally do. But my scrambling/chipping helped keep me close the pin for 1 putt pars. I guess my takeaway for today is it's good to know (confidence) I can trust other aspects of my game to step up when other aspects are less than stellar. Driver was a big help, 6 out of 7 fairways. Josh Parker
It was a very lackluster round today. Ended up shooting 78 with a very inconsistent game. For some reason some greens were cut and others weren't so putting was a nightmare. Driver was hit or miss and irons were ok. It was only a heat index of 105 or something like that and I was def feeling it. Tomorrow is another round. Popular Post Indy_Oz
Had a much better round for my second league round of the season. Shot 39 (+3). Scrambled and putted well, which was needed as I was a bit wayward off the tee. 3x1-putt is better than usual. Only one 3-putt and that was a very silly missed 3-4ft second putt on a sloping green (I hit through the break, lol). I hit some really nice longer approach shots. 190yd wind-assisted 7-iron to 10-14ft. 210yd 7-wood into wind to the heart of the green. Cracking weather and the greens were rolling pretty pure for a muni 9-hole course. Progressing nicely after injury recovery! Preeway
After walking 36 holes at Bandon yesterday, the body is achy and slow to move this morning. Both rounds started off shaky going +5 in the first 7 holes at Bandon Dunes and +6 after the first 7 at Bandon Trails. Once my nerves settled at Dunes I finished with an 80 and and 77 at Trails. donut24
I was able to play in a scramble with some old army buddies. It was great. We did "super OK", I didn't warm up well, and the first couple of holes were a write-off. My driving was not great for the most part, luckily there were some in our group that excelled at it. Because I am a relatively new golfer and this is a fun scramble more than anything I used the opportunity to practice skills that I struggle with. I made some great recoveries from the bunker and was able to sink some far (for me) putts. This saved Par a couple of times. There were some shortcomings, but the experience was overall a win concerning some of the skills I struggle with. The scramble was only 9 holes. After this, a couple of us decided to book another 9 at a nearby course. It was the afternoon by then, and the heat was taking a toll on us. Especially towards the end. We all made sloppy mistakes as we were getting fatigued from being in the sun, but I did manage to get a par, on a short but very narrow par 3 hole. My score is trending downwards overall, I had a great time with close friends I can't see often because I moved away, and I was able to practice some weaker parts of my game. It was a very successful excursion. bens197, Dweed, Michael.Sandoval33 and 6 others 9 Quote JD

As you mentioned, hydrate well before going out, but also a lot of water while on the course. I would recommend a16oz bottle every 2 holes at a minimum. @bens197 suggestion on liquid IV is also a good one to add electrolytes to the system. Stay away from caffeinated drinks and beer as they will do more to dehydrate you than you realize. Whatever magic bean they put in this club, I need 8 more! I barely broke 90 though, and considering the yardage we played, I'm very satisfied!!! Worst drive - a beautiful fade around a large tree protruding into the fairway. Why the worst? Because that little ball hit a root or something and ricocheted straight into OB land!!! Best drive- the 600+ yard par 5. With rollout, 255 yards! I did Come up short a number of times on approach and some were deep lipped bunkers. I struggled there too. We aren't going to talk about my putting today though. I misread nearly every single break!!! I may play from these tees again just to keep challenging myself to get to 85! Only got a few pics. How can I get my hands on that awesome glove you got? Would love to sport my golf spy on the course! cksurfdude, TJ Hall, William P and 5 others 8 Quote Thanks, Evan Suddeth PT, DPT, CSCS, TPI

Popular Post Byrnzee
Had a 6:30am tee time this morning at the Cog Hill No. 2 Ravines course in Lemont, IL about 30 miles outside Chicago. Cog Hill is mostly known for it's No. 4 course, Dubsdread, which has hosted BMW Championships and other tour events in the past. However, the No. 2 course has become a personal favorite for being a fun, yet challenging course that's a great bang for your buck. I love playing early in the morning as I'm an early riser anyways and then have the rest of the day to relax. The weather was great today as well; partly cloudy in the low 70s. We had a weird 90 seconds of rain on one of the tee boxes, but otherwise it was dry. I ended up shooting my second best round of the year with an 81 (42-39) from the blue tees, which play about 6550 yards. I was playing with a good friend of mine, who also shot his best round I've seen from him! Good day all around for both of us. I was able to avoid any double bogeys or worse, which have been a plague on my golf rounds this year. Even after losing a couple balls on par 5s, I was able to salvage par or bogey after being forced to take a drop. I did unfortunately still have two 3-putts, which is another area I've struggled with this year. Hoping to eliminate those going forward this summer. I really felt like I was striking the ball well all day. My game plan going into this round was to focus on course management and play smart, boring golf. Get on the green as soon as possible, two putt, get out of there. I'm very happy with how well I stuck to that plan, minus one aggressive 3-wood over water on a par 5. Unfortunately it didn't clear the water and I was forced to drop. If I could have one shot back on this round, it would be that one. I only hit driver one time on the back nine. My 2-iron was the MVP today, helping me find fairways without sacrificing much distance. A lot of the holes on the back nine require less than driver unless you're able to rely on a risky fade. I was also really happy with my alignment and club selection into greens. I ended up hitting 66% of GIR, which definitely attributed to this lower score. Hoping to keep the momentum going next weekend and string a few good rounds together! Lot of golf on the calendar this month, including a trip to Arcadia Bluffs and Erin Hills. Until next round!
