MaxEntropy
I played, IMO, one of the harder munis in the area today (Sleepy Hollow for the locals). I am actually pretty happy with the way I hit the ball, bit I did not score well. The greens are very penal if you end up above the hole. I 4-putted the first green and 3-putted 4 times for 39 total putts. We were also racing the weather on the back so we were rushing a bit more than we should have. chisag
... What an afternoon of golf! We played Prairie Bluff and quite literally had the place to ourselves. The Mrs, my 28 yr old son and his best friend. We let one 2some and a single play thru and those were the only people we saw the entire day. Since it was so hot and we were all walking (I have a remote cart) we took our time, or should I say the young men took their time and it was a 5 hr 30 minute round. 90 was the target for today judging by several posts and my son broke 90 for the first time shooting an 84! 2 birdies in the round, something he has never done, really helped. The Mrs shot 92 which is really good for her and our young friend struggled and that was a big part of the long round. ... 2 birdies and 2 bogies for me, both bogies coming on 3 putts with the pin in ruthless positions. On 14 I flared a 3 iron off the tee leaving me 179 in with a gentle breeze and hit a 7 iron 10 feet past the flag that was on the downslope of the mound. Had to roll it hard enough to get over the hump and no way to stop it going down the other side. I hate it when they don't give you enough room to stop a putt coming over a hump. Put it 2 feet from the bottom so a good putt rolls 2 get past, not ON the hump so a putt that almost dies at the top still rolls 6 feet past. Same story on 17. Hit a 7 iron just past the hump at 181 thinking I would come up short of the pin but it was hot and the ball was flying, and the pin was on this side 4 feet down the slope. Just crept my putt over the hump and it trickled 10 feet past. But all in all a great day! StrokerAce, tommc23, MattF and 4 others 7 Quote Driver: Qi10 10.5* ... Jmikecpa
Played the first round today of the season long match play event at my club. Ended up having to give 15 shots for the round. Started with an awful front nine going out in 6 over 43 to stand on the 10th tee four down. Almost made ace on the par 3 10th and won with a kick in bird. Striped a drive 11 and hit 9 iron to a foot for bird to get back to two down. Piped another drive on 12 and hit 8 iron to six feet for bird number three to get to one down. Tied the match up on 17 with a 4th bird on the back nine to come in with -4 30 on the back nine. First extra hole I made a birdie and halved to a par. Made birdie on 2nd extra hole and halved to a par. Made a third straight bird on the 3rd extra hole to halve to a par and then finally my birdie on the 4th extra hole got me a 1 up win. Long day on the course and right now hoping for rain tomorrow, I am beat. Kenny B
My wife and I drove to Portland on Friday night; had free Marriott certificates that expired this weekend. Yesterday we played the Oregon Golf Association course in Woodburn. Never played it before. A nice course with a few tricky holes. The two guys we played with were ... not good. I think they each lost a dozen balls. I shot 82; one birdie and one double bogey. My wife shot 87. Today we are playing Stone Creek in Oregon City. Haven't played it either. Beautiful weather for the Willamette Valley; high near 80 today and sunny. pulledabill
Today we are playing Stone Creek in Lake Oswego. Haven't played it either. Beautiful weather for the Willamette Valley; high near 80 today and sunny. Did you like OGA? I work just a mile away so its nuce after work on twilight Stone Creek..love yhe course minus tge cluster mid front which slows things down and it can create a very slow round. PMookie
I walked 9 today and used my MP-18 Fli-Hi 3 driving iron to tee off on 6 holes. It was the perfect club!!! I'm loving it! The new shaft has really made it a special club. 240-250 with a nice little draw, fairway each time. Just awesome!!! My wedges are being re-shafted, so I had to use my PW at various distances, and it worked-out just fine. Thinking ahead to the “City Championship, that is played on this course, the Fli-Hi could be the most important club in my bag those two days. Rtracymog
Finally got out for the first time yesterday. Short open course with no real trouble. I feel like I didn't really make any putts or strike the ball that well but still ended up with a 74. I'll take it! garethw
Another 88 in another variation. 48 out and 40 back in. 4 over through the last 11 holes. As a disclaimer they are preparing the course for European Tour / Asian Tour and then the Ladies European Tour. The first cut of rough has been allowed to grow thick, the greens are getting fast and the pins were all close to the edge of the green. Trying to get the ball out the first cut and advance it down the fairway was a struggle. Front seven holes were a disaster, the last eleven were good. This is becoming the norm more and more now. Im back to work for six weeks soon, fortunately there is a driving range and course on the complex I live on. I know what I need to practice on so can spend six weeks practicing. Nunfa0
Horrible.....but enjoyed it. First time playing a course in Gatlinburg (Bent Creek). Lost 5 balls, shot 47/50:97.......this is a positional course......you must position ,your ball for the next shot, not always hitting the Big Dawg. Most holes had severe doglegs.
