Popular Post JerryB
Owen and I played the front nine at River Heights today. Played pretty well and would have been better if the driver cooperated. Put two OB and topped another. Bogeyed the first four holes (poor approach, poor drive, OB drive, poor tee shot). Then a double on five (poor chip and a three putt). Bogeyed six (OB drive) before getting par on seven. At this point I was actually two strokes up on Owen. On eight I topped my drive, then FOUR putted for a triple and we were tied up heading into the last hole. He hooked his drive left but bounced off the trees into the fairway. I sliced my drive onto the next fairway. We both managed to stick the green with our approaches (mine was inches from the ball mark, a rarity) before two putting to tie. As nobody was behind us he proposed a chip-off for bragging rights. He put his close while I managed to double hit mine. Bragging rights remain with the young lad, but I'm feeling good. Putting was mostly decent; I was lagging pretty good. Midway through I noticed I was cutting my backswing short and once I addressed that my irons were flying long and straight. Hoping to get out tomorrow and excited for an outing this weekend. cksurfdude, fixyurdivot, CLenahan and 9 others 12 Quote Cobra Aerojet Max driver Cobra Aerojet Max 3 wood and 7 wood Cobra Aerojet 4/5/6 hybrids Cobra Aerojet 7-PW, GW Cobra Snakebite 52° and 58° wedges Cobra King Stingray 20 putter
Popular Post CSiders12
Played 18 holes and hit my driver beautifully! I hit one errant shot, but everything else was on a string. Unfortunately, everything else was anything except beautiful. I had 8 three putts... yes, 8. I shanked two irons, had multiple bad chips. Golf golf golf. Popular Post BallsLeon
Late post, played this past Monday in Tahoe at Lake Tahoe GC from the Silver tees (66.2/115). Was in a mountain valley south of the lake with views in almost every direction, very beautiful place to play. Twosome my wife and I played with were great guys, course was in great condition, and the course had a fairly open layout. Also, got to play with a full set of Rogue ST Max clubs which was really fun. Ending up having my best 9-hole round yet, and then proceeded to blow up on the back 9 . Almost broke 100... almost. Shot 46 on the front and 54 on the back, for a total of 100. First pic is my drive on a par 4, managed to put the ball in line with the pin which is a first for me. As the golf season is dwindling away in missouri I have found my game completely. Its much thanks to gambling on a tsr4 driver and lab link.1 thanks to TSauers reviews. Popular Post cksurfdude
Seem to slowly be making small, incremental progress over time - earlier in the season my 9 hole scores were too often hi 40s, occasionally pushing 50/50+. Last several 9s have mostly been around 46-47 .. and that's with a few should be considered careless at this point errors... Last round's highlight - almost made two birdies, back to back! First almost was a Par 4 .. low bullet of a drive but went down the middle and got some rollout, second just solid enough to carry onto the green and roll to the back right fringe with the pin back middle .. rolled the putt where I wanted and it juuuust passed over the high side edge... Next Par 3 kinda the same story, funny enough .. solid enough tee shot, just pushed a little right .. hit the right side of the green and rolled out to the back right, with pin back middle .. first putt was pretty good and again rolled slowly by the high side for another tap-in par. But don't worry, fellow Spies - I self corrected back into balance with a stoopit 3 putt on the next hole followed by an even stoopiter 2 chip right after that... Work In Progress!! Popular Post JerryB
Owen was busy so I walked the back nine at River Heights by myself this morning. I didn't score well but I still feel like I played well. Still having some issues with the driver; I topped one and had four others that we off-line enough to lose strokes. I'm overall still struggling with setup and alignment problems. Long clubs tend to straight but right of my target. Irons are going either straight or drawing a bit and I can never guess correctly. I'm hitting them way better, though, and actually hitting them a little longer than expected again. They're letting the rough grow out and its playing havoc with my wedge game. Putting is decent but marred by mental lapses. All of which is to say, (to borrow from @Sluggo42, I believe) I think I'm going to hit a new plateau soon. Ball striking is finally decent and next step is course management. Shot a 50 today that could have easily been nine or so strokes lower were it not for mental gaffes. Perhaps one day soon... Popular Post Jim Shaw
Good morning all, I played yesterday for the 1st. time since the bc seniors. about 11 days ago, have to knock off some rust for sure but hit a few good shots, didnt’ putt very well, playing tomorrow and saturday so should have a better idea by then what to start fine tuning, but I think it will be business as usual with maybe a bit more aggressive attack with the scoring irons. This is late in the tournament season for me, I have 2 left, the club championship and the National Championship. So far i have been quite disappointed with my performance, I would grade it a low C so I would like to finish strong. fixyurdivot
36/39 this morning at Desert Springs. I was -1 through 15 . Hit a rocket drive down the far left side on #16. Nothing but open desertscape that slopes back towards the fairway. Oh, but there is a group of three bushy/cactus things. We all swore my ball cleared those and would be way down the fairway or, at worse, on the dirt. The further down I drove, the more my heart sank... no ball. The guys helped looked but no ball. Went back to the things and dug around... dammit!! . Had to take an unplayable, shorted that, left the approach 50+ feet away from the hole and 3 putted for a TB . Slightly red-assed at the par 3 #17, I pulled my shot left and took a bogey. I did have a decent birdie chance at #18 (would have been the 4th of the round), but nope. The best chance I've had at a par round, maybe even sub par round, gone in a flash. Maddening for sure, but so cool to be so close. I know it's there and I'm going to keep at it . Popular Post Kenny B
My wife and I played early this morning with two other ladies from her league. My game seems to have taken a good turn lately... practice is paying off. Shot a +4 on the front nine for a 41 and a -1 on the back nine for a 34. I messed up the par 5 #6 hole with a double. It's been a while since I was under par for 9 holes. I had a sandy par on the par 5 #13 hole; one more rotation for a sandy birdie!! I also birdied 17 and 18 and I knew I was even par when I teed off on 18, so finished strong. On 17 my wife almost got a HIO; she tapped in before I made my short birdie putt. Popular Post JerryB
Owen and I played an outing today at River Heights, joined by my dad and a kid from work named Ben. Owen played his usual solid game. My dad was good around the green. Ben hit some absolute bombs off the tee. I had some good approaches and putted surprisingly well. We played well and had a really good time. On the par three fourth I put my tee shot inside eight feet and dropped in the natural birdie. Around that time my dad broke out some cans of Spotted Cow and our games slowly deteriorated as the round went on, lol. The young lads didn't partake and we took most of their shots on the back, ha! We went -9 for the day, good for second place. Winning team was -12. Cool part was a group a couple holes ahead of us; they all took up golf this year and one of them won the longest putt. rkj427, BallsLeon, cksurfdude and 7 others 9 1 Quote Cobra Aerojet Max driver Cobra Aerojet Max 3 wood and 7 wood Cobra Aerojet 4/5/6 hybrids Cobra Aerojet 7-PW, GW Cobra Snakebite 52° and 58° wedges Cobra King Stingray 20 putter
Popular Post Swood1994
It’s been a while since I posted in this thread. Mainly because I haven’t had a ton of time to play and my game is suffering because of it. So here’s a longer recap of my round yesterday I was invited up to my FIL club to play a round. This is one of my favorite courses in our area and is a very fun but tough track if you get out of position. Starting at the range I reluctantly admit that I started my warm up out with 5 dead shanks in row off of the hitting mats. I was not looking forward to the round. Luckily I took a step back and made a couple adjustments that helped get me through the round. Now when I say this was the best driving day I’ve had all year… 11/14 fairways. Long drive of 329 and an average of 302. I was absolutely crushing the ball. But in true golf fashion, I couldn’t hit a wedge shot to save my life. The par threes ate me alive. Collectively I shot +9 just on the par 3’s with a triple and the rest doubles. If you are out of position on these holes your score can really add up. The other 14 holes I played +8 with a couple bad breaks and a few missed birdie opportunities. If I take out the par 3 game I was happy with how I struck the ball. All in all I shot a mediocre 88 but have a new found confidence in my driver/woods (not a good thing for the mizuno long game test. They’ll have to really perform now) and have my marching orders to go and practice my 130 yard and in shots for a some of the tail end of the season play I have coming up. Lucky I took a step back and made a couple adjustments that helped get me through the round. Now when I say this was the best driving day I’ve had all year… 11/14 fairways. Long drive of 329 and an average of 302. I was absolutely crushing the ball. But in true golf fashion, I couldn’t hit a wedge shot to save my life. The par threes are me alive. Jim Shaw
day 3 of my "get ready for competition" yesterday. Played in a "breakfast club" competition which was good as all putts need to be finished and there is prizes on the table so a bit like a real completion. Came out of the gate really well, 2 under on the front, hit some sloppy shots mid round, bogeyed 13-14- and doubled 15, parred in for a 75. Some good takeaways from the front side and was a bit more aggressive on the second shots on the back. I have 3 games booked next week and with some practice reps in between I believe I will be ready for the club Championship august 26-27. A rattle emerged in my driver so I have that in the shop getting looked at, hopefully they can fix it quickly as it is my favourite club in my bag.... Have a great day everyone cksurfdude, MattF, KC Golf and 6 others 9 Quote committed to performance excellence

Hide contents ... this part, "Long drive of 329 and an average of 302." Oh, yea, I remember those days, like never. Full disclosure. That drive had wind behind it and a slight downhill tee shot on a 427 yard par 4. I had around 85 in to a front pin (92 to the middle). I used my range finder to try and get as accurate of a distance as possible. Oh it was also the hole right after a triple on a par 3 haha. A lot of anger was behind that ball. My father in law said I’m not invited back because I had about 80 yards between his drive and mine . I kept telling him it’s the second shot that counts, which still holds true to his 84 vs my 88.
