Yeah 15 degrees of loft would look intimidating but it would be awesome if you could actually make use out of it. I'd doubt it would go much farther than a 2 iron, maybe more roll but probably no carry

Grab it! I have a set of Ping ISI Becu that is the full bag starting with the 1 iron. I bought it just to have a complete set, no need for me to use it

Like Richard I went through a phase where I had to have a 1 iron in my bag - mind you a Ram Tour Grind 1 iron in 1977 is really a modern 2 iron and a weak one at that but still - it was pretty stupid and I didn't have a teacher to take the thing and throw it away - it took an act of God - someone rear ended me when I had the club in my trunk.

 

I actually did hit my 2 iron really, really well when I was in my mid 20's - the 1 iron - not so much even off a tee.

I'm not going to buy this but like some of you guys have said it would be cool to just have and maybe hit on the range every so often. This would serve no purpose on the course

I have a 1 iron in my Maxfli Revolution set (see sig for clubs). I took it out to the course once or twice last year just to mess around with it. I'll just say there is a difference between being able to hit a 1i and being able to play a 1i. I could hit it, but I could never play it in a serious match.

 

That being said I could see pulling it out for a layup type shot or tee shot when you are into a stiff wind. It's an easy way to hit a knockdown that will run. Not something I would want to attempt hitting into a green though.

I play the MP FLI HI 2 iron. I played it today and hit it 11 times. We did have a 25 mph wind and it is true this club does lend itself to the knockdown shot pretty well, but with the KBS Hybrid shaft it also hit the ball high when you want it to.

 

I have a friend that has a 1 iron, and can not hit it. I have attempted to hit it but did not fare well.
