I am tempted by @chisag setup but that’s a lot to spend on two clubs that don’t get much usage (although if they perform they might). The idea of playing a dedicated 250 yard club for me, is enticing. I am more confident with driver on a lot of holes but I don't always need the distance. Like you, it's a tough sell to buy a club I use that infrequently but the returns would make it worthwhile. edingc 1 Quote Titleist TSi3 Fujikura Speeder NX Blue 60X TaylorMade SIM2 3 wood Fujilkura Ventus Blue 7-X Titleist U505 2 Tensei 1K Black 85 X Titleist T100 4-P Nippon Modus 3 120X PING S159 50-S 55-H 59-T DG X100 Vokey SM8 50, SM9 54 & 60 Nippon Modus 3 120s L.A.B. Jedaigeki
I intent to stay more involved in this forum now. I made the account and then just sort of left it for a looooong time other than the occasional visit to lurk. So I currently have a project to undertake for the wife, she's (as in she wants and I do) swapping out the shafts in her driver, 3 wood and hybrid. The shafts are sitting in waiting to be out together but now the UK has ventured into another lockdown I've lost some excitement to get it done. GolfSpy BOS
For some reason today I started looking at PXG gen 2 drivers... not for any real reason either. But I'm tempted to order one and try it out against the Speedzone. Anyone have any strong feeling for or against the Gen2's? Was thinking it would be fun to try the XF and see if the extra forgiveness makes a big difference for me, or if there is a big distance penalty. Looks like they are really close to opening. That's only about 30 minutes away. A heckuva lot better than Braintree! But yeah, I do miss Golfsmith being right around the corner. I was in there on that practice putting green so much I thought they were going to put my face up on the wall and have a do-not-let-use sign up. Having a Golfsmith 10 mins from my office was a blessing (or a curse, based on who you ask!). We could use a good larger shop down here in SE MA. But I'm tempted to order one and try it out against the Speedzone. Anyone have any strong feeling for or against the Gen2's? Was thinking it would be fun to try the XF and see if the extra forgiveness makes a big difference for me, or if there is a big distance penalty. Back when I had the Ping G30 I wasn't spinning it excessively or anything like that. I think the winter is already getting to me.... the gen2 drivers were an improvement over the Gen 1 which nobody liked. For the Gen 2 some people had better success compared to other drivers on the market and some didn’t. From what I remember from other forums the guys that got fit were the ones that preferred the Gen2 compared to the ones who just ordered. At the current price it’s worth giving a shot fozcycle, GolfSpy BOS and GolfSpy_SHARK 3 Quote Driver: PXG 0811 X+ Proto w/UST Helium 5F4 Wood: TaylorMade M5 5W w/Accra TZ5 +1/2”, TaylorMade Sim 3W w/Aldila rogue white Hybrid: PXG Gen2 22* w/AD hybrid Irons: PXG Gen3 0311T w/Nippon modus 120 Wedges: TaylorMade MG2 50*, Tiger grind 56/60 Putter: Scotty Caemeron Super Rat1 Ball: Titleist Prov1
