I’m in your boat too trying to figure out the two clubs between my 4i and Driver. 3w has also been a struggle for me and my 3H according to arccos is no longer than my 5i (likely due to me, not the club).  I am tempted by @chisag setup but that’s a lot to spend on two clubs that don’t get much usage (although if they perform they might).

The idea of playing a dedicated 250 yard club for me, is enticing.  I am more confident with driver on a lot of holes but I don't always need the distance.  Like you, it's a tough sell to buy a club I use that infrequently but the returns would make it worthwhile.

Everyone is different. Test it for a while and take stock on what you are hitting and how often you use it. I used to carry the blades up to the two iron in high school and it was an ego thing not wanting to ditch, that, let alone the 3 and 4 irons.  Long winded, anecdotal way of saying try stuff and find what works best for you, but if the 3h flys like the 5i, definitly a good oportunity to get some other clubs in your bag that can help the cause.

With the Cobra F8 Fairways, I was able to change the 3W to 16* and the 5W to 20*. That said, I got the ball off the ground better and actually increased my distance with better accuracy.

I love adjustable clubs.

Thanks. The 3H as far as the 5i is bad. I hit my 5 and 4 really well.

Trying to be patient, but with the Skytrak supposed to come in on Wednesday, I'm looking at projectors, the net return home net and impact screen to sure up an exceptional set up.

I told myself, I'd just use my rukket net and iPad to get started, but I'm feeling pressure to get the goods now!

It is an illness that can't be cured.  You may be satisfied for a while,  but you will always look at the new putters.  I know;  I have that illness as well.   The only thing that helps me is being one of the most wanted testers which allows me to try most putters that are available in the market.   Started looking at the 2021 putters yesterday when I stopped by headquarters.

I'm certainly Jealous as being in the UK being a MGS testers is not an option, which I understand as logistics would make it harder than needs to be.

You're correct though that it's an illness that can't be cured. My wife caught me snooping around her bag the other day, having a look at her Sigma 2. I was quickly and rather violently moved away with a broom...

that's not 100 percent true. there have been a handful of tests this year in which UK was included. Ping was one. Some OEMs do ship internationally and would like to have testers outside of the US.

Be active and stay tuned as there will surely be more in the future.

I think his comment was more related to my doing most wanted testing and not forum testing.

But yes, there are forum testing opportunities that go outside the US.

I intent to stay more involved in this forum now. I made the account and then just sort of left it for a looooong time other than the occasional visit to lurk.

So I currently have a project to undertake for the wife, she's (as in she wants and I do) swapping out the shafts in her driver, 3 wood and hybrid.

The shafts are sitting in waiting to be  out together but now the UK has ventured into another lockdown I've lost some excitement to get it done.

Mainly just only going to be thinking what i want. The other spousal unit and I had a chat and the goal is nothing new this year. I had a potential trade lined up with my 3H and a King Utility but there was some unhappiness about that within the house. for now it will just be dreams of new clubs in my head. 🙂

Continue to focus on game improvement, your clubs will be fine.

I never spend a lot on clubs. Most of my acquisitions were the result of selling old clubs and the using that money to buy new clubs. No impact to the family budget.

Ya, even selling clubs and getting new ones seem to be an issue at the moment (I just bought a new iron set and a 3H and the 2 DI), although, I think i could validate that as I came across the King Utility and it seems like that would be 3 clubs in 1 (and sell the 3H and 2 DI and get better gapping) !

For some reason today I started looking at PXG gen 2 drivers... not for any real reason either.  But I'm tempted to order one and try it out against the Speedzone.  Anyone have any strong feeling for or against the Gen2's?  Was thinking it would be fun to try the XF and see if the extra forgiveness makes a big difference for me, or if there is a big distance penalty.  Back when I had the Ping G30 I wasn't spinning it excessively or anything like that.

I think the winter is already getting to me.... 😂

I had a Gen 2 XF, but that was before I could hit a driver very well. Its a good value now at the current price. I got it back when it was full price.

Yeah, I was kind of shocked to see the price it's offered at, probably half of the reason I'm thinking about it.  Also because I can't actually just got hit it at a PGA superstore or anything.  And it looks like the closest place to me is at a course where they're closed for the winter!  So If I did want to try it I'd have to buy it and book some simulator time.

This is very true... but the PXG stuff still wouldn’t be there!! You have to go to a fitting location. I wonder what their return policy is. IMG_3261.png

Drove by the PGASS in Natick a couple weeks ago. Looks like they are really close to opening. That's only about 30 minutes away. A heckuva lot better than Braintree!
But yeah, I do miss Golfsmith being right around the corner. I was in there on that practice putting green so much I thought they were going to put my face up on the wall and have a do-not-let-use sign up. LOL

Same. Having a Golfsmith 10 mins from my office was a blessing (or a curse, based on who you ask!). We could use a good larger shop down here in SE MA.

PXG is extremely military/veteran friendly.  Have you looked at whether or not a veteran you might know, say @Lacassem, can help you get it even cheaper?

the gen2 drivers were an improvement over the Gen 1 which nobody liked. For the Gen 2 some people had better success compared to other drivers on the market and some didn’t. From what I remember from other forums the guys that got fit were the ones that preferred the Gen2 compared to the ones who just ordered.

At the current price it’s worth giving a shot
