What equipment are you thinking about?

I have a tee time scheduled for tomorrow morning with my brother (it's a Christmas Eve tradition for us) but we had some unexpected snow two days ago that is still sticking around, so I'm gonna have to go pick up some colored balls. I'm thinking of going with red for that Christmas feel...

A 2 driver setup... I've been listening to too much Scott Fawcett. 😂

Something with a short shaft around 44" and forgiving head and then experiment with an EPIC Flash or something similar around 47 or 48" for all out distance when I play the local goat track or cow pasture where you can hit it anywhere.

Interesting concept that he is proposing.  Not sure I could find a set of drivers that I could setup one to hit a draw and a to hit a fade....at least well enough to be useable.

I've been playing a W/S 17º hybrid for a couple of years and it's been my goto club.  I've tried several FW for a little more distance, but most don't agree with my swing or ss.  However, I ran across a new Titleist TS2 16º with the SureFit hosel for cheap... couldn't wait for the TSi2!!  Way more distance!  I still use the hybrid for certain shots, especially from our rough.

It's super frustrating but I have to just do what you did and work with what I have.  For whatever reason, fairways just don't agree with me.

I am ALL ABOUT that choice to try the TSI2 FW.  I think I know the outcome but still something to get excited about!

I think you should give it a try and see how it performs for you. The Epic Flash line is pretty hot, but seeing how you hit it and if it fits into your gaps will be important. Have fun testing it out!

Are you going to reignite the SLDR thread, El Conquistador? 😂

@Tom the Golf Nut, if you haven't read the SLDR thread, it's worth it.

You guys were right. I'm staying with the SLDR. I tried them side by side today and the SLDR performed better for me. Just returned the Epic Flash about an hour ago. Plus I could get a brand new Sub 70 fairway wood fit to me for ten bucks more if I really just want something new.

The Epic Flash was one of the FW that I tried.  Didn't work for me either.  I think it has too much sole in contact with turf for my swing.  The TaylorMade RBZ/SLDR had a good design and worked well for me; the Titleist design is similar and the TS2 has great distance.

Finding a 3 wood that I like was like trying to find a needle in a haystack, and I don’t think any OEM has made a 4 wood for lefties since the G25.

i finally lucked out with a Rogue/Quarants setup. Because I’m never happy, I’ve continued to try to find better. First with a G400 and now with an Epic Flash. Haven’t been able to really give the Flash a fair shake yet, but the early returns haven’t been promising.

I’m no fan of FWs, but lefties also can’t get 17* or lower in hybrids, so that Rogue 3wood is going nowhere for a long time. (Same can be said for the Rogue X3 hybrid. That thing is a rocket launcher).

As always I'm thinking about putters, for some reason it's always putters.

I have no need for a new putter, I am happily in love with the one in my bag and all of the other 5 or 6 are more than good enough to satisfy any desire I have to switch things up but I always seem to be thinking about getting another flat stick.

what makes it worse is the last 3 putters I have bought have all been identical designs other than minor tweaks due to being from different OEM's.

Thinking about switching to snell mtb x optic yellow golf balls. I already play them in white. Love the ball, not sure about the color. Feel like it will help with tracking shots since my vision and depth perception aren’t great.

For what my opinion is worth, I've been playing the MTB-X in Optic Yellow since mid-2019. I play the majority of my rounds by myself and also usually at first light. I've found the yellow to be much easier to track in the air than white and usually easier to find on the ground (except during the fall season with leaves on the ground).

I ordered my yearly five dozen on their Black Friday sale, but even at regular prices they are a great value. My only complaint is that the cover/paint can be a bit fragile compared to some other balls.

It is an illness that can't be cured.  You may be satisfied for a while,  but you will always look at the new putters.  I know;  I have that illness as well.   The only thing that helps me is being one of the most wanted testers which allows me to try most putters that are available in the market.   Started looking at the 2021 putters yesterday when I stopped by headquarters.

Can't comment on MTB-X as I've never played anything but yellow. I did play the the MTB Black in both white and yellow for a bit and do think the yellow is a little more prone to wear, or at least wear is more noticeable.

Last year I snapped this picture of damage after a fairly cleanly played 36 holes:

IMG_09082019_074054_(800_x_1080_pixel).jpg.2c351bffbd9efa55eb361d6e2005aaa9.jpg.0146f6f52cf8cfcd209356a83d13331b.jpg

I'm not one to swap out balls unless I lose them, but after toying with yellow Z-Star XVs this past year I found them to be more durable than the MTB-Xs.

Thinking about getting one of the Jordan Dormie Workshop headcovers with the 20% off sale. Would go in my collection with my Jordan XI (non-golf) shoes.

I've been told a 16* 4 wood may be better for me as a fairway.  That made me wonder what I could do with a 16* hybrid.  I tested the 17* Exotics Hybrid two years ago and loved it which makes me think I could move down a degree, pick this up and no longer have to stress over a fairway wood.

I dropped the 3 wood for a hybrid this year and haven’t missed it one bit. Not for everyone but worked great for me.

I’m glad to hear that. I’m not necessarily one to care what others think, it’s more of me trying to understand what the heck is causing it.

... If you have not hit one, add the 17* Taylor Made #2 DHY to your list. You can order it with the Diamana Thump at no cost. It might surprise you, especially with your swing speed.

I’m in your boat too trying to figure out the two clubs between my 4i and Driver. 3w has also been a struggle for me and my 3H according to arccos is no longer than my 5i (likely due to me, not the club).  I am tempted by @chisag setup but that’s a lot to spend on two clubs that don’t get much usage (although if they perform they might).

SuperSpeed Golf for the fourth time 😂, and leather head covers for my driver, 3W and hybrids. Looking at Stitch Golf, Coobs Golf or Cru Golf. Not looking for anything crazy, just want some stealthy, quality covers!
