Spent a couple of hours on my ExPutt experimenting with my various putters and working on my setup and grip.   The Sacks Parente putter seemed to perform the best from a face angle perspective.  When I got the feels kind of figured out the face angle was sub .9* pretty consistently for all the putts.   Going to keep working on face angle but still want to get to a course to practice distance control.

Today's session actually has me pondering selling off all the extra putters.

Range and putting day with my daughter.  I can get over the fact that the TSi3 is going in the closet (the G400 is so much more consistent and I need to move on beyond this saga) in place of the PING.  I’m more upset just because I bought something I really did not need but it’s being shelved and replaced by something I still love.  Clubs felt great and didn’t really work on anything specific.  More than anything just soaked in the moment.  If you look carefully, you can see her ball just above the trees. 🙂

Last week I was striping it and this week I’m Kevin Kisner.

I can’t stand over the ball wondering which bipolar version I am going to get.  Meanwhile that PING is a sure thing.  Pragmatism is going to win.

... I think we have all been there. That square peg looks sooooo good and has so much potential but try as we might it never fits in the round hole like our old round peg. But honestly glad to hear you are back with the G400 and it seems your Quest has ended.

Day 122 (18 May 24) - after band rehearsal this morning, get home to a rainy afternoon.  No outside stuff today, so I rolled some putts on the rugs in the shop.  Focused on tempo and lagging for distance.  Love working with Millie (the Odyssey AI-One putter I tested and exclusively game these days).

Chris, you gonna try cross handed????

ANd yes, you should sell the extra putters.  I been thinking, guys change putters a lot without really knowing what the problem is.  I think that the Sacks Parente approach, lower balance or center of gravity, is a scientific step forward.  Im happy with my Odyssey R Ball used pickup.  I would like it a inch or 2 shorter because I have very long arms, it affects the lie angle, but I don't know if I can because the grip is an integral part of the overall club.  You get what you get when you find a good used item.

New net is finally finished please disregard the ugly-*ss lumber shed in the background.  I inherited that with our move.  Its going away next winter when I don’t have to battle snakes, ticks, redbugs, and mosquitoes.  But the net is functional and cheap.  I have already posted a link to my net.  Other materials were < 50 bucks.

I putted cross handed for 11 years; no better and no worse than any other putting approach.

I change putters for no reason other than they are my favorite club and like to try different things.  the selections are pretty calculated and thought out.   Depending on who you follow, there is belief that the putter doesn't have much influence and it all comes down to player skills and understanding body mechanics.

I am assuming you have a stroke lab R Ball.  Those putters either have a weight in the shaft or a heavier grip.  If you cut the grip you can easily weigh it and get another of the same weight.  If it has the shaft weight,   you would have to head the end of the shaft because they are epoxied.  Or if you cur the shaft below the weight, you can weight the weight and grip and match that total weight with a new grip.   If you are choking down because it is too long, you should already have the lie angle figured out and cutting won't change what you need.

Tried to do my simulated round on grass today after a warm up and some feel work with my 7i trying to turn through the ball. PRGR was telling me I was swinging my 7i at 100 mph. I highly doubt that. Got through first hole and started second when my wife texted “Our daughter just threw up” 😞. I still had 40 ish balls so used it as a rapid block practice to get driver dialed in. Hit a few 160+ ball speeds with a small draw. Got the feel I needed for near center face contact and learned the more I went after it the tighter the dispersion on my shots. Then did a few with my DI before leaving.

something to do now on Tuesday although I am tempted to try and play a quick 18 different from my home course to get my mind thinking about strategy.

You should sell your putters and try the voodoo green reading. Although for me idk if it works well because the last 12 months I’ve put a ton of work in on distance drills and now my brain just knows the feel for what my eyes see or if the green reading really is voodoo.

You should sell your putters and try the voodoo green reading. Although for me idk if it works well because the last 12 months I’ve put a ton of work in on distance drills and now my brain just knows the feel for what my eyes see or if the green reading really is voodoo.

My problem really isn't read it is speed.   I've been working on using Geoff Mangum's approaches for read and speed control.  when I  trust the stroke and maintain a good rhythm the speed is really good.  When I don't trust the stroke I end up short.

The method also takes speed into account. I I don’t have enough digits for the last 36 holes that the voodoo method hasn’t left me within 3’ of the hole on a lag putt

I have the video and know what the voodoo green reading approach is.  my problem is more about maintaining the right rhythm in my stroke.

At least you change putters calculated and well thought out.  I get the feeling, absent the kind of scientific analysis or discussion (spin, angle speed, consistency, dispersion) on all full swing clubs, that a lot of golfers don't know why their putts miss, and don't apply a process to find better putting, except tallying up a small sample of practices.  I get the feeling that "understanding body mechanics" isn't happening much for many who keep jumping.

Thanks for the info on my R Ball grip/weight.  In a perfect world, I would order a new one shorter and a slight change in lie angle.  Now that I am back playing after 2 months, I will talk to my local alterations guy.

It’s magic. We just go out and I let her run the show. Hit as long as it’s fun and when it’s time to go we pack up.

Nothing beats “hey daddy, watch this!”

"Let her run the show"  will be applied in later life.  Muchly.

Got out to the range today and hit a large bucket of balls…prepping for a 4 man scramble on Friday and deciding between a 4 iron or 4 hybrid.

Was getting to a point of more feel and less technical in the swing and was doing much better…hoping this controls to the round on Friday.

4 iron didn’t last long…not good at all.  Had struggled with the 4 hybrid before (big pushes), but cut it down a bit and a new grip and was loving it today.  Will be putting it in the bag going forward.

Captured data on the Mevo for the session, seems to be picking up shots by the guy next to me as well (removed those shots from the log).

Was hitting the ball decent and mostly consistent with flight on irons.  Was smoking the 3 wood, driver needs some work…

Then hit the practice green for a bit…speed control was fantastic.
