iPhone gps apps

For all the iPhone users and other cellphones alike, are the gps apps worth having. I've seen advertisements for some but just curious how accurate they are. I was looking at 18 birdies being that was one that I've seen advertised a lot. Opinions...

Yes and no. I have hole19, golfshot+ and they are ok. They eat up the battery fast as well as data. Now I'm using gamegolf live they are ok. Keep in mind they can be laggy, and best you get is front, middle and back distance as well as lay up distance not as accurate as range finder with slope but they do the job for free.

I have them all a dedicated gps the swami GT, the range finder with slope, and phone apps. The phone apps is definitely the most hassle as you have to turn on the phone on each shot, can't possibly keep it running the whole round.

I don't have unlimited data plan so hole19 is not a good option for me for sure.

I have tried a bunch of them I find that the best one is The Grint

"Obviously my iron play is incredible, and when I get going I can get hot, but this course just fits my eye. The shaping of the holes, and just a couple of the doglegs, I'm able to shape shots."

What he said

TheGrint is a pretty great all-around app. It tracks your GPS, handicap, and stats.

I use golf gps and score card app. My friend has a range finder and I would say it works great. I played another round without him and I was able to be fairly accurate. And if your not familiar with the course it's nice seeing how it's mapped out. Especially if there's a dog leg right away and a lot of trees.

Swing x Swing is my go to, they have a free version that tracks stats of score, handicap, putts, the paid version tracks alot more and calculates wind/elevation and will say you're 150 yds out but with those two factors it will play like 160
