What are the best and worst things about golf in your region?   The weather.

Other than that, I am not new to the forums.  I don't think I ever responded to this post.  But I got new sticks for the 5-0.   Had to share.

Hi! Hope I’m doing this right, still learning how the forum works. As stated I’m in Cleveland, fairly new here, and feel spoiled by the Metropark courses.

I’ve been playing about 8 years and was still using my original beginners set of clubs, and decided to treat myself to getting a full bag fitting. Every club went up to 2 or senior flex, so there was a struggle to relearn to play after 8 years of pool noodle flex.

Driver is TSR1. Given that I hit my hybrids so well, fitter suggested I just go with a 3-4-5 hybrid set up instead of woods, so I have the brilliant new AI Smoke hybrids. Irons are the amazing new Qi10s, 6i-P, and (from a different fitting for my birthday last year) Cleveland RTX 54 and 58. I have shaft and swing weight info but that seems excessive.

Anyway thanks for having me!

Hi guys, I am Zach from Michigan!

1) I have been playing golf for 2 years now. I am a 10 handicap currently.

2) I love golf because of the relaxed nature of the game. Also because you get to go hang out with your buddies and drink some beer!

3) I came to the spy because of the reviews and getting to be a tester with multiple opportunities. I think it is great for the game to get some hands-on experience with certain brands you might not think about when it comes to purchasing.

4) I am from Grand Rapids, MI and my home course is Spring Lake CC

5) The best things about golf in my region are the insane public courses in Michigan like Arcadia, American Dunes, Bay Harbour, Harbor Shores, etc. The worst thing about my region is we can only golf 6-7 months of the year compared to down south!

6) I am currently a college student with an engineering internship.

7) I picked my username because it is a nickname my friends gave me in high school.

Hello all, just found this group over the last couple months and seems like there is a lot of great content shared here. Hoping to join the community a little and be able to contribute some.

How long have you been playing golf? What’s your handicap or normal score?

I’ve been playing golf a few times a year for 10-12 years but recently have gotten more into it over the last 3-4 years, getting out 3-5 times per month and upgrading my bag a little. Got a Callaway AI Smoke driver and some TaylorMade Irons. Still sitting at a 22 handicap but hoping over the next couple years I can get out on the course weekly, get some lessons, and improve my handicap. Recently shot a PR 84 which felt pretty great.

What do you love about golf?

The holes where everything comes together: Great tee shot, stick an approach shot close from 150-190 out, sink a 10-20 foot birdie putt. Makes putting up with the double and triple bogies worthwhile. Also there’s something great about getting out on a nice day and playing a round.

What brings you to MyGolfSpy? Do you already know any other Spies?

Ended up on MyGolfSpy as I was researching options for an indoor golf simulator setup I’m currently building. Stayed for the great content.

Where are you from? What is your home course?

From TN, lived in WV briefly, currently residing in southeast MI. There are several great courses in the area. Maybe an unpopular opinion, but I enjoy getting out to new courses and trying them out. I find it more challenging but it can be a little frustrating hitting a solid contact shot on-line but ending up with an unfavorable lie because I wasn’t familiar with the course. There are a few courses I frequent but wouldn’t say I have one home course at the moment.

What are the best and worst things about golf in your region?

With over 20+ courses in a 90 minute radius there are ample opportunities to golf in my region with a wide range of quality/price options available. Booking a tee time on a specific time/date isn’t an issue. The biggest problem is that the weather only cooperates for about 6 months of the year leaving a lot of down time on the schedule.

What do you do for a living?

Great looking set for the big 5-0 @kmaren, and may your scores be low moving forward.

@Zgrabby11 welcome to the forum from the other side of the state and wishing you success in your internship.

@kmaren and @Zgrabby11 you both may want to read the requirements for potential testing opportunities here, and complete your profiles, even with an avatar picture.

@ClevelandGirl welcome as well, and great looking set, and make sure to check out the other areas of the forum for any information or questions you may have. It truly is a great group here.

Welcome @Goyanks7777 from another in SE Michigan. Hope you find everything you want or need at the MGS forums. We now have more than a few from the SE Michigan area, and maybe one day could have a golf gathering?

Welcome @Goyanks7777. Welcome to the forum. Always glad to see another Michigander...(transplant). Most of us are. Keep us updated on your simulator build project. It'll come in handy for the winters for sure. Don't fret about handicap index numbers. Practice, have fun playing and at practice, take some lessons to help with shot consistency and still have fun, trust me, your numbers will drop and you're still having fun.

Hi all. I've been a moderate time lurker and figured I should try and get away from lurking so I wanted to start with an introduction. I'm Kirk and I live in Naperville, IL. I started playing golf in 2016 and while I've seen improvement over the years I'm still a high handicapper (25). Luckily for me, I'm more in it for the fun than worrying about being the best guy on the course. Let's see...what else...married, no kids, but do have a crazy dog named Birdie (see profile photo from summer 2023).

I've followed My Golf Spy on Twitter/X for a long time and love the reviews which have helped me identify some products that I've purchased (always through the affiliate links 😀) and have never been let down. They even convinced me to move away from Kirkland "Super Spinny" balls this year to MaxFli and I've been VERY happy with the results especially around the green for my game.

My bag is a mix of Callaway (Big Bertha) driver, 3W, 4H, 5H, Ping irons, and I recently purchased an Odyssey AI blade putter which I really like as well.

That's about it for me. Looking forward to interacting a bit more down the road. ✌️

A while back I had to leave the game. Lower back was at a point I just couldn't play without falling over. With the help of the VA physical therapy guys I am able to return to the game I love. When I left I doldrums all my clubs, ect as I didn't need a reminder of that.

Well, now that I'm able to return I gotta ask, what the heck happen either club prices!  I can't believe the cost today. Needless to say returning is more of a challenge than I imagined.  I've got a few now, enough to hit the range to find my swing. Sure feels great to get back outside to the course!

Hey everyone. I’m pretty new to the forum, so I figured I should introduce myself. I’m Justin, I live in Reedsburg, WI, and I’m a high school math teacher. I grew up playing baseball and didn’t start golfing until I got my first teaching job. A few other teachers at school talked me into joining a very casual league in town. I played on a semi regular basis for the next 5 or so years, but once my wife and I started having kids I slowed way down and ended up stopping all together. After ~7 years off, a buddy of mine asked if I’d like to get back into golf and join a two-man scramble league with him.

I’ve done a lot of lurking and reading other posts/reviews, and figured it was time I start getting involved in the discussion myself.

Welcome in ! I live in Omaha,Ne. We have some beautiful courses here that offer great challenges for all skill levels. I to am fairly new, must say I love this forum. I play mostly solo as my work schedule differs from most of my playing partners, so if there’s golfers in my area that are interested in playing hit me up. I on here every day! A bad day on the course is better than a day stuck in the office.

high to fly ! Peace ✌️

Welcome back brother. Yes, prices are high no doubt. Keep your eyes open for some garage sales, you might stumble across some deals. You can always use them as trade ins for others. Keep an eye open at Currie and other locals for club deals at the end of the season. People leave all sorts of good stuff behind.  LPGA will be at the Dow Invitational Midland Country Club Jun 24-30. Vets get in free and have access to the Vet pavilion to watch some of the action.

Welcome, hope you enjoy the forums and interactions with all members

@JJBack, glad to hear you're starting back at some casual golf. Great exercise, stress relief and fun the whole family can be involved with. Welcome to the forum.

Thanks man, I appreciate it. I just have to make sure I don’t get overly frustrated with myself when I make a poor shot. Right now I’m only playing once a week and maybe making it to the range one other time, but it still can be super frustrating when you hit a great shot and then follow it up with a complete duff. That’s golf though.

Trust me, I know. And there were quite a few on Sunday at the US Open that would agree as well. Forget the past and look forward to the next. Just like baseball. another pitch is comin".
