BostonSal
I don't go by brand. I go by specs, looking for sufficient loft as I lean toward weaker lofted clubs, and flat enough lie angles. The flatter that a sole area is designed, the more important the lie angle becomes. A rocker shaped sole helps a bit there, Quote Louisville Golf Persimmon___2, 4, 5, 7-woods; Epon AF-906___driving iron; Titleist T100 5, 6, 7, 8, 9-irons; Titleist T100S___48°; Edison 2.0___53º; Titleist SM-9 (T)___58º; Tad Moore Otto Hackbarth___putter; Titleist Pro V1x___ball
PBH3
Fairway woods are probably the most finicky clubs, but I love my Tour Edge Exotics. Moving to the 16.5* loft from the stronger lofts has been a game changer for me. I guess it's really more of a 4 wood than 3 wood. It is so much easier to get in the air off the deck, lands softer and no real distance loss off the deck. funkyjudge 1 Quote Driver- Ping G410 Plus 9* Fairway- Tour Edge Exotics EXS 220 3 Wood 16.5* Hybrid- Tour Edge Hot Launch C521 19* & 22* Irons-PXG 0211 DC, 5-GW Wedges- Taylormade Hi Toe 54* & 58* Putter- Ping Sigma G Tyne (Superstroke grip) Ball- Snell MTB-X Maxfli Tour Grips- Golf Pride CP2 Wrap Midsize Bag- Ping Hoofer USA Edition Arccos
Billy-Bo-Jim-Bob
Taylor made for me all day long. From burner to sim, just seems launch and shape just seem to always feel the best for me. Completely a personal preference, but would say sound and feel play a big part in it. Everyone should love their fairway clubs and never think twice about pulling them. pineneedlespro
It does not matter of what brand of fairway metal to play. It must look good to you to have confidence to hit the golf ball. Also it helps to play one with a shallow face and low profile with a face height of about 33 mm which gives confidence of hitting a shot off the ground. And remember to tee it low on the par 3 holes. Micah T
I’ve always been partial to ping and Titleist: I don’t even bother with a tee on some boxes with my g410 LST. Tee just adds spin to the shot for me. jroot327
I had been searching for a few years and the Ping g410SFT is so easy to launch. It's more of a 4 wood than 3 wood, but for the few times I hit a wood, its nice knowing a controlled swing ends up launching high and mostly straight. Thin2win
I'll vote for Cobra too. I've had an F7 in the bag for like 5 years now, nothing has come close to kicking it out. I mean, every new version of the cobra is equally good. But none of them have been worth the $$ to change the look of what I have now. sg419
I have the PING G400 and thought about replacing it as I was looking for a little more distance So I went and turned my 5 wood down from 17.5 to 16.5 and got the results I was looking for Little bit more off the tee and still easy to hit off the deck Should be good for another year, while I wait for PING to upgrade the 425 so I can get a 425 for cheap. I am a Tour Edge Fitter/Dealer and I have several 2020 and 2021 demos (quite a few are unhit) that I can sell for about half price (or less). juspoole
I've always been a fan on Titleist fairway woods for their look and playability. I wouldn't say they are the most forgiving or long, but usually just a consistent blend. Also the look of them is usually one of my favorites. However, I've not tried many out there and I actually go from driver to 2 hybrid, so I don't really find having a 3 wood completely necessary. It's just not as straight as the 2 hybrid for me and may 15 yards longer which could be nice, but I just never used it very often when it was in the bag. For what it's worth I've enjoyed the hybrids from Titelist as well. As I inevitably lose distance in the coming years, I definitely will be looking more at 3 wood, but have not had to yet.
