Popular Post EnderinAZ
Good morning spies! I am running the Wild Bunch today on the short course. We are going to play a modified Chapman. The modification is instead of alternate shots in after the second shot we will scramble in. I expect a lot of deer in the headlights looks as I explain that this morning. I may not run the skins side game as well, instead choosing to pay 4 places. With 15 players I can pay 40, 30, 20, 10 percent and 12 people get a little of their money back. I am sure I will end up in the group that gets nothing back. 86 degrees out this morning at 6:00 am. Popular Post Shrek74
Good mid-morning, Spies!! A bit late getting on today as I've spent the last 3 hours dealing with work stuff. Ugh. Hopefully all packed up and ready to load the car up this afternoon and get rolling up to my sister's in SW Ohio. I haven't been up there in quite some time, so it'll be nice to see how things have changed. Not sure I've ever actually been in the "new" high school, even though it's been around quite a while. I've only actually seen it once, now that I think about it. I haven't seen all the upgrades to the athletic fields, stands, and various buildings either. Wow, it has been a while since I've been up there. If nothing else, it'll be nice to spend time with them and to get away from here for a bit. New scenery is always a good thing now and then. Plus, new golf courses are always fun. Popular Post ILMgolfnut
Excited about the chance to test the Newton shaft! Can't wait to get fitted and get started, after I finish the big test (just made a 76 on a practice test, which would normally suck but is more than adequate for this test). Also semi-excited to see the GMT hit four-digits on the page count. I figure I've contributed at least 50 pages myself... Had my quarterly powwow with the boss yesterday. Looks like my future will include a good bit of travel to places like Hoboken, Dorchester and Lima, along with my usual North Carolina spots. Good for job security; not sure how much golf I can get in on those trips. There was a hint that they may hire more of us after letting our group dwindle from 30 to 5. Popular Post slash25rc
Hey folks, this will be more of a "good evening" post. I was finally able to stay in a place with most amenities. My in-laws have power, water, and wifi so it is like a hotel for us at this point. Western NC has been hit so hard, and we have been fortunate compared to so many others. Our home in Morganton still does not have power, but trees have been cleared allowing traffic to flow on our street. Food deliveries were able to happen for our little one and she has been well, just another day for her, which is all we could ask for. I have some friends who work for the federal forestry service who were able to get the tree off our house today and I owe those guys beers for the next decade. A couple doctors that work for our company have two stories houses that had flood water to the roof and others with multiple large oaks ripping through their homes. While they have the resources to be safe, so many others are not as lucky. In areas such as Black Mountain, Old Fort, Spruce Pine, and of course Asheville, the landslides are sweeping away entire homes and families stuck there due to roads no longer being there. I pray for anyone here affected by this disaster--the mountains were just not prepared for a hurricane of this magnitude. In golf terms, the local course Mimosa Hills is cleaning up the course from downed trees. Per the club, no greens were damaged, but tee boxes, fringe, and fairways were affected from fallen trees. Up in Linville, only 5 holes are currently open due to flooding and tree damage so it will take a couple weeks till members are fully able to get out. Hopefully our home will get power back in the coming days, and I hope all affected are safe and prayers for those not as lucky. I will have the LM set up tonight to hopefully hit some balls into the net these next few days for a sense of normalcy--I appreciate all the kind words and thoughts MGS have sent since this event. Then off to family band rehearsal making it just in time and finished a few hours later to arrive home for late dinner, some sleep and now writing this just saw son off for his commute and his turn for equally long day with his graduate class tonight. While we had him my bud had massive medical problems and we adopted his French Bulldog. More work for today and not much else on tap here, at least for now, never know where the day might go. Have a great Thursday everyone! Popular Post BIG STU
Up this AM my morning routine done. Like I said earlier Tank the Frenchie has done his thing and is snoring at my feet waiting on his Momma to get home from work. No golf today yard work planned. Actually, going to Home Depot early to get trimmer string. Had a decent day at golf yesterday. We did not win but I played good. One of those weird days putted well but could not get much to fall. Was hitting the ball well enough had what I call 5 makeable birdie putts but made only one. Missed several makeable Par putts rkj427, Rickp, cksurfdude and 15 others 18 Quote Driver ---- Callaway Big Bertha Alpha Speeder 565 R flex- - 7W TM V-Steel UST Pro Force Gold 65R---- Irons 5 thru PW 1980 Macgregor VIP Hogan Apex steel shafts--- SW -- Cleveland 588 56* S-400 Sensicore --- LW Vokey 58* SM5 L grind--- Putter 1997 Scotty Cameron Santa Fe Fluted Bulls Eye shaft--- Bag TM Flex Lite Stand---- Yeah I know only 11 clubs G

Popular Post Byrnzee
Good morning Spies! Short day ahead and we fly to Atlanta this evening for a friend's wedding. Lots to do between now and then including work, drop the dog off at the sitter, and get everything safely on time to the airport. Will likely miss the Community Call unfortunately. Went to the sim last night to get some practice in. Struggling with driver consistency lately, but irons feel solid at least. Only a couple weekends out from our NC trip, so hoping to get everything clicking for that. @slash25rc hopefully you get power back soon and return to some sense of normalcy. Glad that you and your family are safe and that your in-laws could help accommodate in the meantime. Hope everyone has a great Thursday! Popular Post ILMgolfnut
Good Community Call morning, Spies! In 24 hours I'll be checking in for my big test. Will finish up studying today, but my last practice test last night yielded an 88 score. Maybe they just asked me a bunch of questions I knew, but still encouraging. I like taking the practice tests because there is a skill to reading the questions and extracting the information you need to answer them correctly. The questions will point you in the right direction in many cases. GF "helped" me take a practice test yesterday afternoon; I think she distracted me more than anything, but I like that she wanted to feel involved. @slash25rc glad things are slowly improving. I'm reminded that the eastern part of the state got clobbered similarly by Florence in 2018, with extensive flooding and 54 deaths. The difference, I suppose, is that Florence didn't have mountains funneling all that water into the valleys where the people live. I didn't live in Wilmington yet, but if I had, I would have been cut off from the rest of the state by land. @Northern Monkey more awesome pix! Became aware of a weird coincidence last night regarding my selection for the Newton shaft test. One of the Tour players using Newtons (possibly the only one) is PGA Champions pro Ken Duke. Ken and I grew up in the same small town in Arkansas, graduated from the same high school 9 years apart, and both had surgery for scoliosis as teenagers at the same hospital in Little Rock. Didn't know him or his family that I know of, but I did have a teacher in elementary school named Mrs. Duke (his grandmother?). He's definitely the best golfer in our school's history; I'm way down the list. The CC sounds interesting today with the brainstorming session. I might take a break from studying to join in. Otherwise, if you can, hit 'em straight and putt 'em straighter!
