Popular Post William P
Good Wednesday morning Spies! Starting the morning with a little liquid sunshine here in the Palmetto State. Not much to it and should be gone soon and have no effect on an early afternoon round. Ladies have a few things on the docket this morning, so the light showers make it a little easier to keep the peace... Will have to run by Dick's and get a dozen of the Maxfli Tour to try in my quest for the 2024 golf ball. Believe this will be the last of the contestants and I'm expecting good things based on all the positive reviews here. So far, the OnCore Elixir remains the reining champ. @rkj427 Congrats again on your official 1st day of retirement... Thoughts are still with @Dead Solid Bogey's safe return to the realm of fun escape from the "Hamstringing Highness." May your return be swift with an early Saturday celebratory tee time! Popular Post JoeCool
Good Morning fellow Spies! May 1st! We’re getting there folks (talking to golfers in my area). It’s still cold but there is no more snow and warm weather is just around the corner. Speaking of good news, my vertigo bout seems to be finally over, after 2 weeks of experiencing vertigo everyday. Congratulations to @rkj427 on his recent retirement. Prepare yourself to regularly run out of time and wondering how you had time to work before. Now with not-so-good news. Funny noise on my old Camry. My favorite mechanic said I had to replace the front suspension and front brakes. Ordered the parts: 900$. Should get them today or tomorrow. I’ll let you know how much for the work next week. if everything goes according to plan, I should be going to the big cities (Quebec, Montreal, Ottawa) shopping, visiting friends and family, but the main reason is getting a fitting session with PXG and try putters (L.A.B. and Evnroll). Very excited about that. While you’re here, do some of you have an opinion on those putters? They seem to have identical result. What’s your preference? LAB has been the talk of the town lately but do you know of any testing comparing the two? They are some many for sale on the LAB Facebook group, it’s puzzling. Ok signing off here. Have a great day folks I’ll leave you with a picture describing what is Spring in Quebec. Yesterday, the blood letting was both literal and financial in the realm of the “ Dark Princess “…. After getting home from having blood drawn for updated testing; the “ Female of Fairytale Finance “ finally got around to dropping the money number for the last Special Couple Day ( 3 days ) cost. Because of severe golf withdrawal instead of seeing the hard numbers, my head went to directly figuring and almost exploding with the fact that… “ HEY NOW “ that is the cost of a fully customized L.A.B. Putter, TPT driver and other shafts with fitting, and full priced Ghost Bag with needed accessories. I conveniently left out the “ fun “ concert part when I calmly informed the “ Super Spending She “ that the cost seemed a tad high to learn about and then purchase repurposed jewelry; as well as learning about vegan shoes and purchasing multiple kinds of shoes including vegan. Finished the conversation by announcing that WHEN and IF my golf exile is removed to expect a major uptick in golf expenses. The “ Hamstringing Highness “ replied with the dreaded…. “ We’ll see “ New month starts today and I am back on the clock for “ Those People “ .. Zoom call this morning. May you all make this a “ Winning Wednesday “ in any an all endeavors. Worst phrase ever, “We’ll see”. All my life that has translated to, Don’t even think about it. Popular Post GolfSpy_KFT
Good morning fellow spies from a sunny Wisconsin Wednesday! Unfortunately, the sun is supposed to give way to clouds and some brisk wind later today, but temps should remain in the 60s. I have a PING fitting today at my local club, so while the weather is not perfect, it isn't rain! I am going to get fit for irons and wedges, and then am hoping they will just let me try some different heads out so that I can report back here. Looking to hit the i230s, i530s, Blueprint S and S159 wedges. After hitting some P770s the other weekend at PGATSS, I have been bitten by the players iron bug. There is absolutely NOTHING wrong with my Aerojet irons, they perform very well for me and I definitely still benefit from the added forgiveness. However, I am planning to move more towards the players category with my next set down the line, so figure it can't hurt to start experimenting now . I really, really liked the smaller head profile of the P770, and think maybe mentally it could help me become a more consistent ball striker with just less room overall to miss. Popular Post Steve F
Good morning MGS Nation! A gorgeous Hump Day morning here in Maryland! Low 60's, light fog (it's beautiful!) burning off in the bright sunshine, hot cup of Apple Cinnamon tea hitting the spot! FedEx has "updated" delivery of the L.A.B. DF3 by one day to this coming Monday. So, I guess instead of taking Tuesday off due to a "golf cough" it'll have to be Monday. I will be tracking ALL FedEx trucks in the immediate area this weekend and in fact may go and put tracking devices on same as I don't want to miss the truck coming to my house. Videos to follow ... League play tonight, hopefully a better outcome than last Wednesday where I just didn't have it at all... Dropped from my third place ranking in our division to 5th... Only thing that was on last week was driving, which is not the norm! In any event, any time on the course is good time! Will get home for lunch to do some iron work. Not much else on the slate for today! I hope everyone has a wonderful Hump Day and that golf figures into your plans as well! Popular Post ILMgolfnut
Good morning Spies! More travel in my immediate future. Have a doctor's visit (followup on a previous visit, no big deal) at 1 pm, going straight to the airport from there and winging my way to St. Louis through... Washington? Oh well, a few extra AA miles. I learned yesterday that I will be observed on Thursday by a new person we've hired to do basically what I do, but who has no experience doing what I do. Great. Now he gets to watch me and learn how not to do everything... Congrats @rkj427! I'm reminded of when I left my first medical job after 8.5 years (still the longest I've been in any one job in my life). They had a nice going-away luncheon for me and a couple of gifts. I loved working there (a university hospital) and only left when it became obvious that the state legislature was screwing around with our appropriations and things were about to turn upside down. Things coming full circle: The experience I got at the university hospital is what enabled me to land my current gig 16 years later. Retail therapy report: Two pairs of golf pants en route from 32 Degrees. So far have no complaints whatsoever with their stuff; have shorts, golf shirts and socks, all very reasonably priced and good quality. Unfortunately they won't arrive before I head for the airport. So I'll just wear TGW golf pants on the plane instead. @Dead Solid Bogey I've been calculating the cost of GF's desired trip to see Def Leppard/Journey in Denver. Plane fare is not too bad via Expedia, but the concert tickets are, and she is not going to go for sitting in the nosebleeds at Coors Field (although we sat in the nosebleeds for Elton John in Charlotte and it wasn't too bad at all, but that wasn't a baseball stadium). And I have enough hotel points for a free stay at a very nice place not far from the ballpark, probably walking distance. I'll have to sit down with her next week and hash over the concert ticket choices. Seats down on the field are as high as $1300 and that's without any Ticketmaster fees on top of it. I'm going to try real hard to avoid spending the price of an Ai Smoke AND a LAB DF3 putter, twice, on one concert. EDIT: I just brought it up to her and she's not sure she wants to spend all that money for three hours of music. But we'll discuss further. If she really wants to go, better to make arrangements early before prices go up any more. Popular Post Shrek74
Good morning, Spies!! Happy Hump Day!! A beautiful morning here in the Tennessee Plateau. 60* and the sun is shinning bright. And I'm stuck inside my office all day. But while I work, I'm playing around with swing weight calculations for my Maltby TS1-IM's. It's an enjoyable little mind break from actual work, which is great. Plus, it gives me ideas for about how many of what weight tip/butt weights I'll need when I actually start building them. The last 2 heads are ordered and I'm just waiting for them to arrive with their actual weights and such. I also need to finish building my work bench area so I have a place to work. I hope all the wet weather is gone for the next couple of days as I have a tee time tomorrow after work. @Northern Monkey after the stress I've had recently I need some golf retail therapy. Popular Post Byrnzee
Good morning Spies! Beautiful day in Chicago and the forum is buzzing! Love settling into my morning routine with some coffee and catching up on the threads. Went to the driving range after work last night and it was the best session I've had in quite some time. Have a new feel that's really working for me and I'm hoping it'll translate to the course this weekend! @rkj427 congrats on the retirement! Enjoy the downtime and more room for golf on the to-do list! @IndyBonzo not sure if you have decided yet for your L.A.B. name, but that picture screams "Daredevil" to me! Work starting to pick up for the rest of the week. Hoping that staying busy will make the weekend come faster! Have a great Hump Day all! You don't own golf balls anyway. You just borrow them before they go to their final reward. Lake or OB or whatever. Which reminds me, one of my friends from my marathon running days lives on a golf course in Denver, although he doesn't chase the dimpled orb. He reports a brisk business reselling balls that land in his back yard. I get that golf courses are nice scenery, but why would a non-golfer pay the premium to live on a course? On the other hand, I know golfers who specifically avoid living on the course; they want the anticipation of approaching the clubhouse instead of seeing it outside their breakfast nook every morning. jbern, Byrnzee, Wib081 and 8 others 7 4 Quote Obsessed with chasing the dimpled orb. So it's coming along. Pics we need pictures, at least of your bench when you get it built. I love my Srixons, but building and testing the builds on the course is so much fun! @Rob Person Holy cow Rob, did you schedule any minor things in May like....sleep?? @rkj427 4 am wake up time never goes away. You just don't get out of bed anymore unless it is to pee, and then you just climb back into bed to sleep for a while longer. Get an audible account. When the walls close in (and they will) grab your headphones or ear buds, put a book on and go walk, or ride. The bike in the picture below gets me out on the bike paths for hours at a time. I dive into a good story and pedal away the stress and tension. Good morning spies! We went to the delay of game by bees game at Chase Field last night. I have been to a couple of baseball games that were delayed by rain. This was the first time where it was delayed by bees. Wild bees in Arizona have interbred with African honey bees which are very aggressive, so the caution last night about a bee swarm hung on a cable that holds up the net right behind home plate was well warranted. But, jeeze, it took two hours. We left after 4 innings. We are old, and by the time we road the light rail home it was well past bed time. Speaking of riding here are the new bikes. Hope to get at least 30 miles in this morning. sirchunksalot, rkj427, jbern and 13 others 9 7 Quote Driver Sim Max2 Hybrids G430 2, 3, 4 Irons ZX4 6-PW Wedges Hi-Toe 50, 54, 58 Putter 2Ball Ten ArmLock Golf cart MGI Zip Navigator
