Popular Post ILMgolfnut
Good morning Spies! At work early, full day here in Raleigh then headed to Charlotte. I'm not as sore as I expected after my six-mile hike through the Raleigh Mountains with a golf bag on my back, which is not to say I'm not sore. Got back to the hotel last night and realized my uvula is very swollen. Looked up causes of swollen uvula, and exposure to pollen is high on the list. Given my four hours out in the stuff yesterday, that's the leading contender. Not painful, just feels weird when I swallow. Hopefully it will subside during the day. Today is my mom's 84th birthday, two days after Mother's Day. I sent her a big combo gift which she received Friday, but a call is in order during the drive to Charlotte. Golf related: Possibly a Fit For Golf workout once I get to Charlotte, or a few balls at the range, or both. Or neither... Golf related, part two: My DF 2.1 putter is on its way to the Casa, probably will be there before I get back Friday night. Which undoubtedly means I will find it on the bed with Suzie the cat curled up next to it. Golf related, part 3: Yesterday's 18 resulted in a slight adjustment in the handicap to 19.2. Almost wish it had gone up, given that I'll be playing in handicap tournaments in Scotland. But I'll play to the number they give me. Popular Post Kenny B
Good Morning everyone! I’m happy to say that I woke up. Yes, I aged a whole year today; I have always thought of the Tennessee Ernie Ford song, 16 Tons… "another day year older and deeper in debt. St. Peter, don't you call me 'cause I can't go. I owe my soul to the company store.” (Most of you young’ens will have to look that up.) At 77 it’s now easier to shoot my age!! Lots going on today. Have to take my wife’s car in for oil change and check up for our cross country trip to the MGS Kingsmill outing. We leave next week. She gave up he Tuesday golf game with the Ladies to play golf with me today… we always play golf together on our birthdays and anniversaries! Looks like another gorgeous 85º sunny day. After golf I’m taking her to her heart doctor appointment and picking up her car before we head out for an Italian dinner at Europa restaurant. Today's tasks involves reshaping some of the planter beds and then some range/practice time this afternoon. For those who are interested in the L.A.B. DF3 putter testing, we have introduced something new. In a new feature of the testing, we are introducing the MyGolfSpy Tester of the week for the L.A.B. DF3. In this new feature, each week we will highlight one of the testers. The purpose is to highlight the great work they are doing, but also to get to know them a bit better. I commented on that and he told me he'd grown up in upstate New York playing hockey and his swing was an adaptation of his hockey technique. It did straighten out my slice and I enjoyed playing it. 8 years ago I switched back to the 2-plane swing (well, maybe a slight hybrid) because I still have some characteristics that I haven’t been able to shake. While I loved the swing, I started seeing shorter distances as I got older. Popular Post Steve F
Good morning MGS Nation! Yet another dreary start to the day here in Maryland. Nice hot cup of Pomegranate Mojito tea pushing back some of the gloom. Not a lot in store here today: finally got the pool completely drained and cleaned out: no more slime. All the Eastern Tree frogs that were found have been relocated to another, safer water shed area. Only golf for today is iron work at lunch (if the heavens don't open up) and to roll some putts indoors with the DF3 after work. League play is tomorrow night, again, if the 90% chance of rain can stay at bay for a bit. Hope everyone has a great day and that golf figures into your plans today! I was in a world of hurt when I first started the single plane swing. My misses were 60 yards each way, was hitting my 5 iron as far as my driver, and had back issues that were bad enough I didn't even want to play the second 9. I almost instantly had success straightening things out, regained my distance, and back problems went away. It's certainly not perfect, but it's helped me a lot. Popular Post Samuel09152
Good Morning All, Yesterday was fun, but also kinda disappointing. The disappointing part was the winners of the tournament were ast. pros and pros from other course. They did play well but a scramble team with two pros playing against weekend hackers just doesn't seem right to me. I was also discouraged by seeing the 2nd place team as well, these guys were in front of us and I watched them skip the last three holes in which they "scored" 3 birdies. At the end of the day though, I am aware it is a scramble and this is usually what happens around my area. I either need to accept it or not play in them if I continue to let them bother me. The winning score was -19, second place was -15, third place was -14, and my team tied for 8th at -11. Oh well, sorry for venting I guess that just means I need to practice harder and play better. I hope y'all have a great day! Hit 'em straight, and BE THE BLESSING! Popular Post Shrek74
Good morning, Spies!! Happy Second Monday. It's a crappy morning here with overcast skies and rain inbound. Had an iron/driver fitting yesterday afternoon, although it was more iron than driver overall which was fine with me. But I did confirm that for right now, the TM BRNR Mini Driver was the right club for me once I swap out the shaft for the HZRDUS Smoke Blue RDX (which I do have on hand). The last swing of the session had a 1.48 efficiency and a dead straight ball flight. Not super long, but at 95mph swing speed with a 43.5" club the 220 carry is about all I can expect. So for now, that's what I'll be playing as I continue to work on my swing and look to add some more lessons for both irons and driver now. I'll write up my fitting review in another thread, but I've found out something interesting that I'll need to address somehow. I don't swing in a fitting like I do on course. On course I have a very predictable draw. I plan for it every shot. And for the most part, what I expect to happen, does. Not at the fitting yesterday, or with PXG a week ago. Everything was fading. The club face was open and the swing was out to in. Basically nothing like it happens in my lessons or on course. I don't know what it is or why it is, but it is. I'll get a good look at it the next time I'm on the range and on course to see if it reverts back to my normal swing and shot shape. Maybe it's going from my MCC+4 Mids to the non-tapered standard grips on fitting shafts. Although in my round on Sunday, I was using my BRNR with the standard grip it came with and didn't go right at all. So that might not be part of it. It's just strange. Anyway, everyone have a fantastic Tuesday! Popular Post Byrnzee
Good morning spies! Temperatures have dropped overnight with some rain coming through the area. No golf on the agenda today, but will definitely be working on some mirror work and putting in the house today in between trying to do actual work. Working on securing a foursome for golf in Florida while I'm down there for my cousin's wedding this upcoming weekend. Secured a morning tee time on Friday, just need to convince my dad and cousin to join in on the fun. Congrats to all the testers selected for the Ventus shaft opportunity! I currently have an older Blue Ventus Velocore shaft in my driver and it's been awesome. Excited to see how this new model holds up. @Kenny B happy birthday! Hope you have a great one! @GolfSpy_APH enjoy the time away! We'll do our best not to get into too much trouble... Hope everyone has a great Tuesday! Popular Post GolfSpy_KFT
Good morning all and Happy Tuesday. What should have been a really fun first game of my son's baseball team devolved into a chaotic and embarrassing situation due to a heavily intoxicated parent. Yes, at a 7 & 8 year old's baseball game. This particular mom does not live in Reedsburg, but was in town for Mother's Day, though you can hardly call her that, and I am hoping will not be present at any future games. She was continuously coming into the dugout and field area although myself and multiple other coaches of both teams asked her repeatedly to leave. She was actively drinking, smoking cigarettes near the kids, was at one point actually sitting in the dugout, and made the experience miserable not only for her child but everyone else who was there. I handled the situation as calmly as possible, and things didn't really come to a head until the game finished, thankfully. I had the dads who were helping me coach take our boys into the outfield while I attempted to discuss with this person why their behavior was so inappropriate. If you've ever dealt with drunks/alcoholics, you know there is no reasoning or ways in which you can get your point across. The police were called and I eventually turned things over to them. City ordinance allows consumption of alcohol in parks, which I am not a fan of and will be bringing this up to the city. It is an outlier incident, but completely inappropriate. I was horrified by the entire situation, and felt so bad for everyone involved, especially the boy on my team and his younger sister who was also there with mom. I don't expect her to be back, and if she does show up, she has the right to be there so long as she is sober and does exactly what I tell her to do in regards to watching the game and not interjecting. At that point, or if I suspect alcohol is present, I am to call the police and she will be arrested. The boys had fun, and I did my absolute best to shield them, as well as the boys from the other team, from everything that was unfolding. We have our next game Thursday and I am hoping that it will go much better from that standpoint. cksurfdude, Swood1994, EnderinAZ and 17 others 20 Quote Driver: DARKSPEED X 9* Fujikura Ventus TR Blue 6X (Currently Testing) Fairways: Aerojet Max 3W & 7W MCA Kai'Li White 60 Stiff Hybrid: King TEC 3H MCA MMT 85g Stiff Irons: Aerojet 6-GW KBS $-taper Lite Stiff Wedges: Snakebite Black 52/56/60 Hi-Rev 2.0 Black Stiff Putter: Super Select Newport 2.0 Ball: Tour X & ProV1x #LeftyGang Cobra 50th Anniversary Member Special Challenge (link here) Unofficial FootJoy Hyperflex BOA 2023 Review Unofficial Flightscope Mevo Review
Popular Post Preeway
34 minutes ago, Samuel09152 said: Good Morning All, Yesterday was fun, but also kinda disappointing. I actually stopped playing in many scramble tournaments just for this reason. I now focus on tournaments based on the charity/fundraiser they are supporting. I like to go for the silent auction prizes or pin prizes. I already know that it will take an unrealistic score to win. jbern, Rob Person, Cfhandyman and 9 others 11 1 Quote Driver: Aerojet LS, Ventus Blue Shaft - 6S 4 Wood: Rogue ST Max 16.5, Tensei White Shaft - 7S Utility Iron: Fli Hi 3-iron, HAZARDOUS Smoke Black Shaft - S Irons: JPX 921 Tour 4-P, Project X Shafts - Stiff 125g Wedges: 52º, 56º, 60º Putter: Ai-One 7 T CH, 34" Preferred Ball: Z-Star Diamond Pushcart: Nitron Rangefinder: Tour V5 Shift

I coached lacrosse and football for years for both recreational and high school teams. I can honestly say that parents were the biggest reason I don't continue to do so: parents have gotten completely out of hand at games. You can try and explain that there are no contracts being handed out and that we are here (particularly at the age group you're working with) to reinforce fundamentals, etiquette and love for the game. Parents have become the rub when it comes to coaching young children nowadays, at least around here. I sincerely hope your situation gets better: sounds like you've got it under control.
