On the ball test side of things, going to stick with the Snell MTB Prime because I like the way it plays for me and the price is right. Ball testing seemed to put it right in the middle of the pack, which is fine.

... How great is this game? We have 20+ index golfers diving into the numbers for the '23 Ball Test and trying to decide what new ball to try or which ball they will adamantly stick with. This coming from players that rarely hit the same shot twice. The level of interest and participation when it probably makes very little difference is beyond cool, because hopefully one day it will make a difference. You just don't see folks buying a new Nissan Sentra and agonizing over which performance tires/brakes they should be using for their commute to work and the trip to the grocery store. But us golfers that love equipment are all just a little bit crazy. 🙃

... The last thing I need is another driving iron but I saw a T200 2 iron yesterday that just won't recede from my mind.

Me, me, pick me! The golf ball is one thing I’ll always be constantly chasing (literally) lol. I started out last year with Titleist Velocity’s and switched toward the end of the year to second hand ProV1s and immediately saw improvements on spin on the greens. I’ll never not play a urethane covered ball again. Now it’s all about best bang for my buck, and that does include the secondhand market. One thing I have noticed is that the TP5X cover does not stand up well to my clubs, particularly the snakebite wedges, compared to the Maxfli and ProV1/V1x. I’m not one to scrap a ball right away because of a small blemish. But, after seeing a lot of info on how it can affect ball flight, I think A LOT more about it now, even though I’m not hitting consistently good shots.

... Easy! Swing within yourself. 240 in the fairway is better than 260 in the W's (woods, water). Take more club and hit more greens. Embrace the mental adjustment that you will make every putt you face. You're welcome. 😇

It's funny, I started taking more club and playing middle back of greens a couple of years ago because of one of your posts which was a great change.  To endorse the putting side, Ihad one of the best putting days I've ever had last week in a scramble because our anchor was a stud and I didn't have to worry about keeping it too close.  So I was more aggressive, putting to hole it verses putting defensively and subsequently made more putts than I can remember because of that.

Strangely, my most accurate driving periods are when I am right in the middle/end of a Superspeed protocol.

... Seems everyone is busy at the end of summer and there has been little traffic in the Saloon. So I'm gonna hopefully jump start some activity with this question:

What is something that everyone else seems to really love that you don't enjoy at all?

... For me it is Musicals. I don't like Show Tunes and combined with the extreme over acting (which is admittedly the style) I just don't like anything about Musicals. One of my best acting friends back in Chicago loved musicals and always made me go to his when he was performing with some comped tickets, so I couldn't refuse. He said he always knew where I was sitting because I laughed at inappropriate times. In my defense it was usually because I just watched him, and not the scene as a whole so marching in place and looking silly before he joined in the group was always humorous. But that was the only thing I enjoyed.

I'm not an avid hunter or fisherman, which makes me an oddball considering the demographic of this area. However, I do enjoy fishing every once in a blue moon. I've never been a hunter, but waking up before the sun just to sit out in the cold for hours doesn't sound fun.

... As a lifelong hippie and lover of nature I will never understand trophy hunting and fishing. If you need the food or just appreciate wild game and eat what you kill, I can understand that. But killing a living thing for "fun" is beyond my ability to comprehend. I also fished quite a bit as a kid but it was Brim and we always ate it because we were poor and needed it. Fwiw, I didn't eat in a restaurant til I was a sophomore in high school. But putting a hook in their mouths and yanking a living thing from quite literally another world, that is just trying to eat and survive, then extracting the hook and tossing them back so someone else can do the same thing seems pretty sadistic.

Speaking of sitting around doing nothing, I don't care for going to the beach. You get sand everywhere and I'm pretty apt to burn, it's just miserable. If I were to go to Florida or Myrtle Beach, it would be for the golf and it wouldn't bother me if I didn't see the ocean.

I always enjoyed hunting but haven't done it since my brother passed in 2011. I always enjoyed the camaraderie driving to our land and love venison. Plus, seeing things like foxes, raccoons, bobcats, turkeys, and deer in their natural habitats was always awesome. I don't condone trophy hunting because I believe if you're going to kill it, you need to eat it.

I am also not big on watching sports which makes me a huge outlier around here. I will watch some of the major golf tournaments but since we cut cable I don't find myself missing it at all. We're coming up on college football season and I love being able to get out on the course and play since everyone is home watching the games.

As I’ve gotten older, I find don’t have the attention span to sit through full games any more. I think regularly scheduled commercial interruptions have ruined sports. It’s among the reasons I like watching soccer. The games are done in less than 2 hours and there are no commercials.

Where shall I begin? How about the following?:

1.) Bruce Springsteen music (I can tolerate only a few of his songs, and both he and his bandmates annoy me)

2.) anything involving Kelly Clarkson

3.) Fleetwood Mac (other than the original band with Peter Green) and particularly Stevie Nicks

4.) Most shows on the HGTV network

5.) And, Sam, you are not alone with your dislike of musicals. Count me within that group. However, I will make an exception for “Paint Your Wagon”, which is so bad that it’s good …. and Lee Marvin is just so campy bad that I would watch it just for his performance in it!

I’m also not a beach lover, although my wife certainly is one.

As far as I am concerned, you can keep most all salad dressings away from me. Sam’s homemade dressing sounds good, and I’m down for some good raspberry vinaigrette.

Best day and time in the autumn to get a tee time around here is when the Philadelphia Eagles are playing football. Almost nobody is on the golf courses beginning at least a few hours prior to kickoff.

Well, that makes the most sense to me.  I have lived in Florida 1/3 of my life. I have lived from several hundred yards to currently 10 miles from the beach.  I never go.  Yes, sand that you must wash off, deposits in your vehicle and a total waste of time.  I get the sun on the links, I swim in a pool that is free from toxins, etc.  Yes, just played golf tonight in which started 30 minutes late due to a thunderstorm, hit third shot on green on first hole (par 5), and sat for 30 minutes behind the green in a guys tiki bar to avoid the water and wind.  We then putted out, played the next hole or two in a mist and finished in a sauna.  What fun…only sand in the two bunkers I was in.  Still had to take a shower when done but, no mess to my car.

I like to target shoot but not much for hunting although I have done a few times. I do love good venison and other meats found only from wild game, but only if I know who cleans and prepares.

I do love to fish but as SirChunk stated I dont do very often.  The best fishing I enjoy is not in the ocean but, in Canada attempting to get a 6 to 9 pound Walleye to engage my hook.

My life goal is to go fishing in Alaska but, only willing to do so in late July or August, cause in my older days…do not like colder weather.

I love to watch college football and basketball but no to enthused anymore with professional games in the same.  Still will watch Super Bowl, World Series but not Pro basketball.

Of course I watch Pro golf on TV.  Different than most, I analyze golf swings and get enthused with Ryder Cups, Tour Championships and the majors as well as the weekly tour events.

A former plus handicapper who must settle for mid 70s to mid 80 scores today.  After taking 10 years off due to back issues, my driver length has decreased by 40 yards on average.  I look forward to any training aids, shaft improvements, club enhancements to get back part of what was lost.

Biggest dislike: social media. Not that I don’t enjoy it, I just don’t have any accounts on the major platforms, but do see the terrible effects it’s having on our society and kids.  I don’t feel like I’m missing anything.

Loved anything to do with math, physics which probably puts me in the minority. Wasn’t always the case as I struggled with it at a young age.

Haven’t been in awhile, but love the beach.  Many wonderful times and memories with Amelia Island vacations as the kids were growing up.

Love most sports but primarily college football and basketball.  At one time I loved the nba but refuse to turn it on now.  I have watched quite a few mlb games this year, and with the clock, games are becoming watchable again.

I enjoy home projects that involve building almost anything.  I’ve always been very handy learning from my grandfather, and will do most anything.  After we built our house, we had a bonus room roughed in.  I hired the electrical because the breaker box had to be reorganized, and hired the drywall, but did the trim, painting, built the staircase, crown molding, bathroom tile, shower pan.  Our builder quoted $60k and I did it for $27k. This spring I installed cameras around the house and has to partially re-network our house.

Love doing projects with my grandkids, and have done a number of Lego’s with my grandson starting when he was about 5 and now 11.  He does most of the work, I do the QA.  Commented last year to a friend how me and grandson did the shuttle Lego and he commented that I’d never catch him doing that, so maybe that’s something I like that others don’t.

... I was a lifeguard at Myrtle Beach for a summer. I am a tweener I guess because I am not a fan of the beach but I LOVE the ocean. Just the sound, the waves, the tide and the feeling of just how powerful nature can be is intoxicating. After sitting on the beach 7 days a week from 8am to 5:30pm I could always still hear the waves when I went to sleep. But like many of you, getting sand in my clothes and my car along with beach sand just being hot on your feet is something I wish was different. Something like a Jetsons full body vacuum and when you step out all the sand is gone would be a game changer. 👍
