So what's everyone's thoughts on the new i530?

I haven't really been a Ping guy for a very long time, but these have me intrigued to say the least. Especially as I look to do a complete WITB overhaul this Spring when I turn 50.

I'm wondering how they'll spin, as we know all PD irons tend to be lower spinning hence the "distance" part of the name. Hopefully we'll start getting YT testers doing their thing and getting us some initial stats.

Fantastic looking iron. PING absolutely killed their iron releases this year, best looking across the board IMO. Eagerly awaiting the PING demo day at my course so I can try these, as well as the Blueprint S

There's a big demo day here in mid April and Ping is one of the ones coming. Plus there's another huge one in Knoxville the first Saturday in May. So I'll get 2 times to try them out before deciding if I want to do a fitting for them. Luckily my swing coach is a Ping certified fitter and offered to let me hit both the i530 and G730 if I wanted to before a fitting.

I have been looking at new clubs myself, and as a Ping club user now (Karsten III now). I have looked at the I530 and the i230. The i230 (from video review on both  I have watched) have the i230 to be more forgiving and consistent. The i230 does play shorter than the I530. But with that distance comes some erratic shots. Now I have not personally tried either, but from what I have research, and with my golf game I need all the help I can get on consistency. I am willing to club up (compared to the I530) for a more consistent shot.

Just my two cents, and it all comes down to preference and what you want and how you play. Might want to look at the i230 as well. Good Luck and look forward to reading about what you chose and how you like what you chose.

I am a golfer that is getting back into the game. With luck I will get to update my lower handicap.

I have been contemplating scheduling a fitting and investing in a new set of irons this year and I've been eyeing these ever since PGA Pappas dropped a few sneak peaks on Twitter. I'd love to hit them alongside some Mizunos.

So before I went to a split set with I210 and G410 I was playing I500 and although they have that sexy look and appear to be almost the same as the Blueprint irons they are miles apart!! The I500 which this replaces was very easy to hit and carries a slightly bigger footprint like blade length and height etc but for an easily hitable iron for the mid hdcp anyone can benefit from the distance and ease

I toured the ping factory in Phoenix a few years ago and was pretty impressed with their approach to clubmaking. I've always loved my Ping putter and would be really interested in the chance to test.

I'll be curious to see how your testing of those 2 irons go, and maybe add in the i230 just for a full rounding of Players, Player's Distance, and Game Improvement categories.

I play GI irons in the top of my bag and as a driving iron but the I500 was super easy to hit I would say for any high mid Hdcp all the way down to a single digit looking for a little more distance. They looked great at address and always felt to me like it was if a G725 and a Ping Blueprint had a child it was the I500 I would bet you choose the 530 if it's anything like the 500

So my I500s were players distance as are the I530s.  So the loft on my I500 7 iron was 29° and my I210 was 33°  obviously 4° is no Bueno so I had the 500 bent a degree weaker 30° and the 210 a degree and a half stronger 31.5 and could easily live with the degree and a half difference between in my case 6 iron 500 7 iron 210 the 7 is where I switch in a combo bag but that's just me

A great looking club. I play G400 now but would love to give these a look.

No where near as forgiving and a much smaller head than the G400 but they are not crazy small and hard to hit like a blade!! Very similar lofts if not the exact same as yours though!!!

They look nicer than the i525's I had. I didn't care for the explosive feel on short shorts around the greens with those, they didn't feel forged. The finish is very nice though, it also wipes clean easily. The G730 IMO is the best looking CB iron Ping has made since Eye 2.

I would tend to agree and the remedy for that situation is a combo set of Players Distance (I500 Series) and (I200) series or as you said just go full G730 but I think if you felt the I500 series was explosive on short shots the G730s will feel nuclear 🤣 I had the same problem and combo set cured it for me but had to do a little loft bending to get the gap right. These both look fantastic!!!!

Those 210's are beautiful, they look similar to a set of my old Mizzuno irons. I will have to test those one day but I really love my Apex 21's. I've switched irons so many times over the past year it's unbelievable. Took off for seven years due to business, when I started back I wasn't about to settle for something that didn't work well quickly. A lot of my family and friends are happy I didn't LOL. I play sometimes in foursomes where everyone is playing with a set of my old clubs and none of them are old. I wouldn't trade them for a big hit, I gifted them or sold them cheap instead. New clubs motivated me to practice. more than ever.

I was fit into the i530 4-PW when I went through the full bag WebFit app that was linked in the S159 wedge testing thread. They look great from the photos! I used to play Ping s58 irons and we just never got along. The slightest mishit felt like getting jammed in baseball and when I did hit them well they didn't have that "this is going to be perfect" feel.

From the photos these look much better than the s58 irons and I am curious where these will land in the MGS iron testing results. I won't let one bad experience keep me from trying these out, if they perform.

I always figured if we lived somewhere seasonal and only get to play a couple times a week why on earth would I hit some beater old clubs that are super hard to hit and don't go anywhere??? If cost is an issue one can always buy irons used from three years ago for 150 bucks. I change irons every three years along with driver but wedges every other year. I will buy the set from the prior year either new or very slightly used and can usually get them for around 500  and play them for three years. My current set is combo of PING and that replaced Mizuno MP 20s which replaced Callaway CF16's my bag had no allegiance!!! 🤣🤣🤣
