revkev
So I played one of those goofy games that only college roommates could today. We got to pick 4 clubs plus putter - tees, mulligans, call backs and string to be determined by pick - ended up choosing driver, 9 wood 8 iron, 52 based tee choice, 1 mulligan and 1 call back per nine - I got 3 feet of string, other guy 7 feet and other 14 feet.We made it to 15, I had won 4 and Tiger was a 10 hole carry over because on 11 i thought that I had hit it to 18 inches and me 3 feet would give me par on my missed 10 footer and an insurmountable lead - turned out that the double call back there caused me to “miss” by an inch.About as much fun as anyone should have a golf course. Popular Post GB13
I played really solidly today. Ended up with a 37-35-72. I didn’t do anything super special, just kept the ball (mostly) in play off the tee, and chipped and putted well. I told them I don't drink and the gentleman said that was not a problem and he would drink my shot for me. Kind of a rough start but I finally had a birdie on 9. juspoole
Got out for a lunch time 9 holes and had a fairly good round. As it progressed, i got out of my own head and made some solid, aggressive swings at the ball and ended up with a 38 due to a few bad tee balls early in the round where I ended up in a hazard. Played that last 5 holes at 1 under after a tough start. Putting really well, but continue to play too much break the majority of the time. Hole 1 - 450 yd par 4 dogleg left. Hybrid to left side of fairway but had 208 with a bit of breeze. 4 iron was short right. Great pitch with 58* to 10 ft., but downhill quick putt was tentative - Bogey Hole 2 - Straight on Par 4 - 424yd - 140 PW pushed pin high left. Great chip to 3 ft. Par Hole 3 - 172 yd par 3 - 7 iron pulled a bit on right side of green, but pin is on far left side leaving a 50 ft. Decent putt but missed a 5 ft putt coming back - Bogey Hole 4 - 420 dogleg left - Terrible tee shot - push/slice left and in hazard - 160 left with a little wind at back - Great 9 iron to 20 ft. Over read break, but good speed - Bogey Hole 5 - 214 yd par 3 into stiff breeze - Hit a soft cut hybrid wonderfully, but was still a bit much and off back of green - delicate chip of about 65 feet and is all downhill. Landed about 3 paces on and distance was perfect but misread and had 6 ft left and made it - PAR Hole 6 - 520 yd par 5 sharp dogleg right - Hit a decent tee ball but took too much out of dogleg and just in the trees. - punch out to fairway and left with 168 downhill - 8 iron to 20 ft - Another good putt but reading too much break. Tap in Par Hole 7 - 382 yard par 4 up hill - Great drive with a baby cut and left with 91 yards. Sand wedge off side hill lie came off perfectly to 5 ft. Birdie Hole 8 - 380 yd par 4 down hill - Good drive with 10 yard draw - stance is on path so i take a drop and now just off fairway - 71 yards left, hit a 2/3 SW to 10 ft, downhill slider and play too much break (again) tap in Par Hole 9 - 376 yd par 4 dogleg right - Hit a lucky toey draw that carried long enough to be in a great spot. 110 yd - SW to about 18 ft. Hit putt a bit hard for line, but tap in range - Par Kenny B, MattF, MaxEntropy and 3 others 6 Quote Driver: Mavrik Sub Zero 9* (Set to 10) Ventus Blue 6X 2 Hybrid: TSI3 Hybrid Tensei Blue 80 X (17.25*) 3 Hybrid 818 H2 Hybrid Hzrdus RDX Black 6.5 (20.5*) 4 Iron - T200 4 Iron Graphite Design Tour AD IZ X Hybrid Shaft Irons 5-PW: T100-S 5 - GW KBS Tour 130 X Gap/Sand Wedge: Vokey SM6 49* SM8 54* Lob Wedge: Jaws 5 Wedge 58* DG Tour Issue Stiff Putter: Phantom 5.5 34" Pro Platinum Newport 2 35" Taylormade Tour Black Spider 34"

tony@CIC
After yesterday's disastrous, back 9, I ran out and played that 9 again. It was a bit better, ending with a 45 but that short Par 3 over the water ate 4 balls today. I'm getting a complex. I did birdie a long Par 4 and got a par on the other par 3. Regardless it was a beautiful day with no one on the course. Technically we're closed on Monday/Tuesday until Memorial Day, but as a member, if you have your own cart you're ok to play. This is our #13, a par 4 and is the 4th handicap hole on the course. Sharp dogleg right. Yes you can hit over the trees on the right but you'll have either really high rough or bunkers to greet your ball. #16, another par 4 and the number 2 handicap hole. A pretty, 400 yd hole with a really tough approach, mostly guarded by bunkers. Note the trees on the left in the background. Sluggo42
Yay got out again. Getting out of the big tree, I noticed it was already 77 degrees with a high of 86 on the way, I was basically hoping to get 9 in before I died. This track has so serious hills. Then the phone rang and it was one of my boys telling me that today was the first day of carts allowed! I was ecstatic to say the least. five bogeys and only one birdie, but it ended up as a solid round. I bumped my driver up to 11.5 from 10.5 to see how that worked. edingc
When I made this morning's tee time early last week, the weather was so nice and I hoped it would last until today. It did not. Brr . First off at 8:50 AM and it was cloudy, 42 degrees and extremely windy. - 48 / 47 = 95 (+23) - 3/14 FIR - 4/18 GIR - 34 Putts (2 3-putts, 12 2-putts, 4 1-putts) - 2:45 Round Time Just garbage off the tee again. I took a total of four unplayable lies/provisionals off the tee. FOUR. Eight strokes down the drain just like that, plus not many of the provisionals were much better. All nasty topped buggers. Just no confidence whatsoever is anything longer than a 6 iron at the moment. That's all that needs to be said. Once again putting and chipping were really bright spots. So much better than last year. Speed control is considerably improved with the Spider X (I think a combo of practice, better head feel and a firmer insert), and I had several chips/pitches today that were just fantastic. The two three-putts were from miles away on two of the holes where I actually recorded a GIR. This is one of the nicer courses in the area and has very quick and large undulating bentgrass greens, so I'm really ecstatic with how well I putted. I did par three of the four par 3s. Trying to find bright spots. Also, first go around with the Maltby PTMs on firmer course conditions and they are great. Love how the rocker soles work on both wet and dry conditions for me. Scores are definitely not the fault of the clubs! Popular Post Kenny B
I played my first post-COVID-19 round at my course this morning!! That's right, we are open for golf... sorta. When my wife and I heard that our course might be open on May 5, we made a tee time on April 27. Unfortunately, the course booked 4-somes up until yesterday when they found out that we could only have 2-somes going off the tee. The online computer bookings were dumped and we didn't have our 7:22am time like we thought we did. So while my wife tried to straighten that out, a social-distancing line formed outside; one person in the clubhouse at a time. Fortunately, she had the confirmation for our time, so they squeezed us in. Oh, by the way... only one person in a cart, even for my wife and I. She has Tweety and I have Sylvester. The good news is that we got out early, and we played 18 holes in 3 hours. It was UGLY for 9 holes. I lost 3 balls, had 3 doubles and a quad, hit 4 fairways and one green with 16 putts... shot 50. The 2nd 9 holes was a little different. I still didn't drive the ball very well; hit 4 fairways and 3 greens, but only had 12 putts. I had one birdie and one bogey; shot even par 35. I saved par on #18 with a 20 yard bunker shot and a 15 foot putt. We are playing again on Thursday and Sat/Sun. At least we are playing again!! fozcycle
I assume you downloaded it into your Shotscope? That’s the thing......I opened the app on my phone and tried to download the Course last night, but it did not exist. Then same today at the course. It wasn’t until we got to the 1st Tee that it showed up, then I had to download it, sync to phone and start the round. I missed the entire 1st hole before the app started working. Was not a happy camper.Sent from my iPad using MyGolfSpyCobra King F8(10.5*) w/ Mitdubishi Tense ck Blue Regular; 3W & 5W Cobra King F8 w/ Mitsubishi Tense ck Blue Regular shafts; Tour Edge CBX119 22* Hybrid w/Project X Evenflo Regular shaft; Wilson Staff D-7 5-PW w/UST Mamiya Recoil 460 Regular graphite shafts; Cobra King F8 Gw(50*)SW(54*)LW(58*)all w/UST Mamiya Recoil 460 ES regular shafts.Putter: Tommy Armour Impact No. 3; Bag: Cobra Ultralight Cart bag, Peaccoat Blue. cksurfdude, Rickp, MattF and 1 other 3 1 Quote Driver: 0311 XF 10.5* w/Project X Cypher 40 gram Senior shaft or 0811 XF 12* w/Evenflo Riptide CB Senior shaft Fairways: 0211 5W & 7W w/ Evenflo Riptide CB regular shaft and Tour Edge E521 9W w/Fubuki HD50 regular shaft Hybrid: None in bag at the moment Irons: Titleist T300 5-PW w/Fubuki MV Senior graphite shafts w/Golf Pride Tour Wedges: Edison forged 49*, 53* and 57* wedges with KB PGI Senior shafts(80 grm). Popular Post cnosil
First night for my companies golf league: 6 players per team, 9 holes, low net. For the league I am a 2 handicap. First hole of the day I scrambled my way to a bogey then rolled of 7 pars and finished with a bogey for a 38 (net 0). 6 fairways, 6 greens, 17 putts. Except for the struggles on the first hole all aspect of my game were working. Team won 39-27. edingc, cksurfdude, sirchunksalot and 8 others 11 Quote Driver: G400 Max 9* w/ KBS Tour Driven Fairway: XCG7 Beta 15* w/Fujikura Fuel Hybrids: 915H 21* w/KBS Tour Graphite Hybrid Prototype 915H 24* w/KBS Tour Graphite Hybrid Prototype Irons: TR20V 6-11 w/Vizard TR20-85 Graphite Wedge: 54/12D, 60/8M w/Accra iWedge 90 Graphite Putter: Sacks Parente MC 3 Stripe Backup Putters: Milled Collection RSX 2, mFGP2, Futura 5W, TM-180 Member: MGS Hitsquad since 2017
MaxEntropy
Our league was able to start tonight! The golf course has pretty strict rules about how leagues need to operate (presumably because of the fact we all know each other). My understanding was tonight was a bit of a "test" to make sure we could all behave ourselves. It looked like all the league groups did a decent job of it, at least as far as I could tell. I was getting off the tee pretty well and irons were OK, but I just could not score. It did not help that the greens were much slower than the course I played last week and the practice green is closed, so I was short on almost everything early in the round. Ended up shooting 42 (+7) - 3 pars, 5 bogies, and a lone double. Shot of the day for me involved some luck. I pulled my tee shot badly on #9 (par 3). I was under a tree about 20 yards to the left of the green. The tree wouldn't let me get much air under the ball, so I punched with a PW, knowing I needed to land in the rough and hope for a good bounce. It worked out almost perfectly, leaving a 4 footer for par. Yes, I made the putt.
