Popular Post russtopherb
Shot a 9 hole 45 after work today. The round took almost 2.5 hours, between a league earlier and a stupid sixsome (!!) that never advanced the ball more than 100 yards, it was a slog. One par, two doubles. No birds. 4 FIR, 0 GIR. Only 1 three putt. The three fairways I missed were all playable so not too concerned there. My approaches weren’t good. I did hit a green from 183 out with my 5h… but it was my 5th shot on a par 5 JerryB, MattF, cksurfdude and 7 others 10 Quote In my carry bag: ST-X 10.5* Kai'li Blue R Flex ST-Z 15* Kai/li Blue R Flex ST-Z 4h Linq Blue R Flex Launcher 5h Launcher CBX 6i-PW CBX 54* & 58* Huntington Beach #10 e12 Contact CURRENTLY TESTING - Mizuno Long Game
Swood1994
Played league tonight. The swing is starting to finally feel like it’s coming around. Shot a 38 with a triple on a par 3 which was more of an all around bad hole. Tee shot under the tree, punch out, poor chip, 3 putt. luckily it didn’t continue for the rest of the round and we leveled off from there. Lots of pars and a couple easy birdie misses. I feel really confident with my driver now which is something I haven’t had all season. All in all it was a good 9-holes. GVetter
Played Esmeralda in Spokane yesterday. Finally left to driver in my truck so I wasn’t tempted to hit it since it hasn’t been working out lately. Ended up shooting a 103 (slowly bringing the handicap down). Could have been better without make two 9’s (one on the front and one on the back). Only a few poor strikes this round. ACalling
Havent posted on this thread in a while, and its completely unrelated to those couple weeks where I was way out of form... But recent have been playing well again. Last Thursday was my last time out, played a 9 hole game with some buddies and shot a +5 41 on a tough course that I do not play often. Started off tough with a double on the first hole after hitting a pitching wedge 40 yards too long on my approach, I think a combo of a flier lie plus landing on a slope away from the green kicking it way down a hill. Bounced back with a birdie on the Par 5 second though. Played real solid the rest of the way through with a couple tough lip-out par putts but thats just how it goes sometimes. sirchunksalot, MattF, Rick Bouchard and 6 others 9 Quote WITB: Driver: PING G400 3W: Ping G400 3 Utility Iron: Ping G410 5-GW: Cobra Forged Tec (2020) KBS $-Taper 125 x-stiff shafts (Club Champion fitting) Wedges: 52,56,60 (mixed) P: Cleveland Frontline 8.0 Wide blade HCP:
Syks7
Figured there'd be a letdown after breaking 80. Fortunately it wasn't severe. +4 over 9. I followed up one of my best striking days with an uncharacteristically poor one. Swing just felt a bit disconnected and lacking in power. In any case after four straight bogeys I played the swing I had for the day and managed to grind out par for the last 5. Wedges & my putter bailed me out. Four one putts to close out on a day where I made a single GIR. Popular Post Sluggo42
Here is a great example of how NOT to finish a round… even thru 16, great drive on 17. Approach shot hits something a shoots a hard right, one foot into the jungle. Hack hack hack miss the putt… double… CRAP! Well it’s a par 5 for 18, so I absolutely crush a drive, and thinking I need an eagle to resolve the double, top it, then Klank one into the sand… another double…. went from an even par 71, to a +4 75… gahhh what a waste of 5 birdies Kenny B, BallsLeon, sirchunksalot and 8 others 11 Quote TSr2 on tensi blue stiff Speedzone 3-wood on Tensi blue S Epic Max 5 and 7 woods on HZRDUS Reg flex Paradym 9 wood on HZRDUS reg flex P770 / P790 combo set on Ventus R-6 shafts 6-AW T22 Denim Copper 54°, 58° on Kinetic X Trajectory ER3 or, E.A.S. #4 (“Fang” or “Adele”) ProV1x, or, Maxfli Tour X .Org 14 cart bag Adidas Tour 360 , or Sketcher shoes
Popular Post JerryB
Owen and I played the front nine again at River Heights today. After some ghastly play the other day, we came out and...mostly continued that ghastly play. More of the same for me. I'm really in my head on the tee box, whether its driver or something else. Not swinging well at all. Had three decent tee shots. One with my hybrid where I tried to lay up but hit it so well that it rolled into the river anyway. One with my driver that went a little too far left and bounced through the dogleg into the cornfield. And one with my gap wedge that just missed the green, then a putt that just missed the cup, for a tap in par. He came on strong and finished +9 while I went +17. We were planning on taking the next couple of days off to clear our heads, but then we got word that our mandatory OT for tomorrow was cancelled. Since we've got an extra couple of hours, we figured why not?? Supposed to be really hot and humid tomorrow, even more so than today, so the course should be pretty empty again. Popular Post GolfSpy_SHARK
After a few weeks of not playing or even touching a club with a hectic and fun vacation and getting back into the flow of work....It was nice to play a round and not be COMPLETELY lost on my swing. 83 (+11) 39/44 and started on the back. That is where there was some rust on the first few holes but got into a good groove quickly and went +3 on the front and had my birdie chances. Had (5) 1 putts, but nothing over 6' and a singular 3 putt which was my only double on the round. Irons and wedges took some time to come around. I struggled blocking shots out, not missing by much but was missing right. Highlight was driver, once I got into a groove was punishing the ball. 12/14 fairways with most in the 260/270 range in wet conditions and with some downhills off the tee topped 300 3x. First hole I had this beauty, learned real quick to stay out of the fescue (blocked iron) All in all beautiful round with my dad and look forward to getting to the course again: fixyurdivot, Vegan_Golfer_PNW, Rickp and 14 others 13 4 Quote Check out my reviews: G710 Irons Official Review I MC Shaft & V Series Putter Official Review 2022 Forged Tec's Official Review I Nitron Push Cart Official Review WITB: Weapons of grass destruction (link to WITB) Traverse is filled with all this shiny metal and tracked by RadSpeed 8* - MotoreX F1 6X SIM 3W - Project X HZRDUS Green U505 Driving Iron 17* - Project X HZRDUS Black SpeedZone 4H - Project X HZRDUS Black 2022 King Forged Tec's 4-PW - KBS $ Tape 130 48 (SM8), 52 & 60 (SM7) - Nippon Modus 125 S ER2VI PROV1X #19 Are you a veteran? Popular Post fixyurdivot
I've been on a really good trend of late following up an 81, 79, and 78 with a 38/38 yesterday at Granite Falls South. That's the highlight... now for the return to earth. One of our Thursday group regulars brought his 14 year old grandson who plays on the JGA out of Scottsdale. He was in the group ahead of us and I noted that he had a good looking swing and that he dropped several longer putts. So we roll in after play for the results and payouts and the group say's nice round Bill but Beau beat you by 4 strokes... say what?? 3 bogies and 3 birdies for an even par round from the white tees. Afterwards, a few of us left were chatting about his play and one asked how I felt getting lapped by a 14 year old. My response; the only thing worse would have been that Beau was Betty . Pretty damn amazing. Popular Post Kenny B
Yesterday I was told by my wife that we were playing today with another couple... one of her Ladies League friends and her husband. So after my Dr. visit, we headed to the course. I'm wearing a new pair of white shorts with white belt and my new Straight Down golf shirt in white and blue leaf pattern; white golf shoes and white golf hat. I looked like a pro!! At least in my mind I did. Shot a +2 front nine 39; bogeyed #3 but bounce back birdie on #4, then bogeys on #8 and #9. Shot a +4 back nine 39; bogeys on #12, 14, 15, and 16. Lost focus a little, but finished with two easy pars. No doubles or others!! A nice round of 78, but it could have been better... missed several makable birdie chances; could have been worse... made several par saving putts longer than 6 feet. This was the first round I've played this year on a Friday; I usually take Friday off from even picking up a club before playing both Saturday and Sunday. Maybe I should play more Fridays! I'll find out this weekend. Popular Post JerryB
Owen and I decided to get out and play a round at River Heights today. We were hoping that with the temps expected to be high that the course would be pretty empty. It wasn't but we were able to zip through a few groups and keep moving until near the end. Luckily there was a pretty stiff breeze which played havoc with a few shots but also kept us relatively cool. I played one of my better rounds in a while. Driver was mostly behaving and its generally easier when you keep it playable. Since that's come around, my wedge game decided to mostly abandon me. Had a few chunky clunkers and bladed another one. Irons, hybrids, and woods came to play. I had a few more par opportunities than usual. Wound up with ten bogeys and three pars. Used a Srixon Divide today for the first time and I kinda liked it, especially on the putting green. Satisfying when I hit it straight and the two sides lined up just right. Owen played really well, and when we had to sit for a few minutes after our drives on 18, he tallied up our scores. Par meant a new PB of 80. He admittedly tightened up a bit and finished with 81. Had a couple of birdies and overall played really well. I shot 94 and was pretty happy about it. Popular Post ParFore74x
Shot 45/45, 90 this morning and although it was a touch frustrating, I’m okay with it today. 4 pars and 4 doubles kept me at a bogey average and truthfully that is exactly how my game felt. The majority of the extra shots were from missing the greens on the approach and then poor chips. A lot of shots seemed a bit off and so I felt like I was constantly chasing a more comfortable feel at address and it never really appeared. I opted for a left-handed putter today just out of curiosity and that resulted in 35 putts with two 3-putts. Chipping was not my friend today because I still left myself with long first putts on several occasions. I did have three 1-putts with one of those being about 27 feet so that was pretty cool. Started a little sluggish, B, DB, but found my swing and was striking it well - 41 front. Them I really turned it up on the back 9 and drove a couple Par 4 greens, one for a birdie! Then came 18…I’ll let the pic do the talking: Was a few yds off the green and putted it in for an !! With the eagle, ended up with a 38 on the back for my first ever sub-80 rd!!!!! Super pumped that I got to experience that with my dad and son! Look forward to playing there again and hopefully repeating. Edit: Guess I need a Broke 80 badge now! @GolfSpy MPR Edited July 29, 2023 by Tarheelvolvo cksurfdude, edingc, fixyurdivot and 8 others 7 4 Quote In my Hoofer: G410 LST 10.5* - Kai'Li White 60 X-flex VRS Covert 3W 15* - Kuro Kage 65 S-flex T200 4-GW, DG X100 Tour Issue - Tester Glide 2.0 Stealth 54.12 SS & 58.10 SS Zing 2 LW - 60* Anser
