How early do you show up for your tee time?

Recommended Posts

New course I've never played,  1 hour minimum if they have a range open. (Most don't for real early tee times.)

Local courses I've played, 30 min to an hour, as I like to practice SOMETHING  before a round.

Other considerations is who I'm playing with. If I end up in a group, then I like to get to know each other a bit before playing

WITB-Foremost 551's - 3w, 5w, 5-SW (circa 1998), Top Flite 460cc Driver, Adam's 7w, Warrior GW and 60⁰, Odyssey AI-One DB putter.

Just an old newbie golfer, trying to learn and improve 1 club at a time.

I usually show up about 30 minutes before my round. If I’m going to hit balls. It’s about 45 minutes prior to my tee time. I spend most of my time talking in the pro shop before my round.

I used to be a 60 minute guy, or more. Now I usually like to hit 30 balls and then putt for 10-15 minutes.

Usually between 45minutes to an hour. Hit the range, chipping and putting greens in that order...

Definely depends on if there is a range or not. If there is then atleast an hour considering if i have nothing else going on before. That way i can take my time getting my stuff exactly how I like it. But if there is no range then like 30-40 mins. I hate rushing feom the car to the Tbox

Been playing for about 2 years in total. Winter breaks and a 6month period when I got sick. Starting to feel like myself again and recently played a “okay” round.
I currently have custom fit Cobra LTDx irons/wedges, a Vokey 60(cause my short game has been the best part of my game, and a Maverick 9 deg. Driver. Driving is the worst part of my game so My 4 iron usually takes alot of the long game abuse.

I typically try to be there at least 30 minutes ahead of time. 45 minutes feels like my sweet spot time, but it depends on various factors. If I have one or both of my little guys with me, we usually are only 15-20 minutes early because it just works better for them. If I am going to play with friends or a solo round and my wife has both boys, it's usually 30 minutes max. 4 hours alone with our wild children can get to be a lot, so I try not to ask too much extra of her as I value her time during those rounds.

I like to get out as one of the first tee times in the morning so any more than 20-30 minutes requires an earlier wake up than I’m interested in! Enough time to set up the push cart and bag the way I want for the round and a quick chipping and putting session and I’m off. If only I had no responsibilities and all the time in the world maybe I’d have time to warm up on the range someday.

Generally an hour early to load up the cart with clubs for my wife and I, then I usually head to the putting green because the range is nearly always full of players that have an earlier tee time than ours.  I just getting the speed de jour down, so I don't spend much time there.  Short walk to the pitching green and hit a dozen balls from 30y or so to warm up.  My wife shows up by then and does the same; I head to the range.  After a few full swings with driver to loosen up, I typically hit an 8i to a flag in the range... maybe 6-8 balls; then about 10 driver shots.  Done.  Back to the clubhouse... for #1, then off to the #1 tee.

We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”

Depends on the tee time. Morning tee times try to be there at least an hour before. Afternoon tee times after work or class, try to get there 30 minutes before if possible. If I’m running short on time then I’ll warm up and stretch at the first tee box.

I like to show up at the golf course forty five minutes to an hour before tee time. I can take my time changing into my golf shoes, sign in & pay and then hit a few warmup balls. Most of the time I can practice putting before the round too!

Playing golf is very important to me. I enjoy the integrity of the game!

I prefer an hour ahead so I can warm up & hit a bucket, then putt for about 10 minutes to gauge the speed so I can blow it 12' past the hole more consistently. This usually gives me a couple minutes to hit the bathroom and maybe grab a beer or two at the counter then (most importantly) prep a wet towel for my bag. If I show up closer to tee time I will normally skip putting and then drain everything within 25'.

I also have to have my bag and pockets ready to go - tee's in the right pocket, marker and divot tool in the left, glove in the back left pocket, balls out and marked, and the speaker queued with the playlist of the day (which is normally super angry 90's and 00's gangsta rap - at a tasteful volume, of course).

My large bucket warm up consists of my 54*, PW, and then either odd or evens to the top (it varies randomly), 2i, 3W, then driver. I normally hit about 5-6 of each and see which way the ball is moving. I usually try to save about 8-10 for the driver to end on.

I usually play my best when I  get to the course 45 mins or so beforehand and am able to just take a few swings with driver, a long iron, a short iron, and sand wedge. Usually whatever the smallest bucket they offer is what I go with. I like to end on putting because I can carry some confidence to the course when I can roll in some 10-15 footers before going to the first tee.

I like to show up about an hour early, especially if I'm walking. Gives me time to get my push cart all situated, check-in, hit some full swings (or just chip), and roll some putts. Having plenty of time allows me to slow things down in my routine and ideally calm my mind some before I tee off.

In my short time golfing, I have never showed up early to practice anything beforehand. I feel like having too many swing thoughts, which I practice other days, would be detrimental to me in my round. I never putt beforehand which may be why the first couple of holes are usually the toughest in that area, but yeah, so far, no warm ups. Get there and go.

I would recommend at least chip and putt prior.

Normally 45-30 minutes early. Standard is go check in, have my pre round bathroom session, and then head back to the car to get my push cart loaded up. If it’s 45 minutes early I’ll grab a warmup bucket then chip and finally putt. If I get there 30 minutes early I’ll skip the range session and spend more time chipping and putting. I’ll do some stretching and massage gun before I leave the house too

Couldn't hurt to try it out. Just never have, I already overthink too much on the course. But I see how a little putting and chipping would be beneficial.

I used to never putt before my round and found I spent the first 9 holes getting used to the greens. If I’m super late and have minimal time I’ll at least hit a few balls towards the first tee just to get used to the  pace of the green. I still suck at putting but I’m slightly better since I started implementing this

1.5 to 2 hours. I like to hit a few balls through the bag (56 degree, 8 iron, 5 iron, 4 hybrid, 5 wood, driver) then get a feel for the greens with ~30 minutes putting and some chipping if the course has a chipping green. Maybe excessive, but I like that it gets me there warmed up a bit without feeling rushed.
