Robert Allenby was kidnapped from a bar Friday night in Honolulu. He was beaten and robbed before being dropped off six miles away from the spot of the kidnapping.

Golf Channel's Steve Sands reported that Allenby was in a wine bar near Waikiki with his caddie and another friend when he was taken. Both individuals in his party were not with the Aussie at the time of his kidnapping.

Allenby sustained significant facial injuries and was robbed of his wallet, cell phone, cash and credit cards. He was left in a park more than six miles away from where he was taken.

Allenby, 43, missed the cut at the Sony Open in Hawaii after rounds of 71-71. He was planning to fly back to the mainland United States on Saturday morning.

According to Sands, Allenby awoke groggy and with no recollection of what had happened to him. He was picked up in the park by a retired military individual and returned to the Kahala Hotel, where he had spent the week near Waialae Country Club.

Upon speaking with his caddie and friend Saturday morning, Allenby began to piece together the events of Friday night and returned to the wine bar with police to review surveillance footage with the hopes of determining the culprits.image.jpg

I've said it on Twitter - this is not the right way to deal with slow play.

I think Allenby seems to be the type who could almost get into a fight on the golf course. Not surprised if it happens of the course.

And - Chris Couch. New Orleans. That's a good one.

I heard this, the fact that he didn't recall events makes me suspect that he was drugged as well. It's a bizarre story but this stuff happens all the time and particularly in tourist places.

Professional golfer Robert Allenby's bizarre kidnapping story—the one in which he claims that he was kidnapped from a Honolulu wine bar, beaten, robbed, and then dumped in a park six miles away—keeps springing more leaks.

Two homeless people who came into contact with Allenby that night have already disputed major details in his story. Now a third, Chris Khamis, is claiming that Allenby's facial injuries were not the result of a beating, but of Allenby drunkenly passing out and bashing his own face on a lava rock. Moments earlier, Allenby apparently told Khamis that he had just come from a strip club, where he had been hoping to "get some action," and believed that he had been drugged.

Robert Allenby's Kidnapping Story Just Keeps Getting Weirder

Golfer Robert Allenby, whose story of being kidnapped from a Hawaii wine bar, beaten, and dumped in … Read more

From the Star-Advertiser:

"There was no crime (when I was present). It was his stupidity," Khamis said in an interview. "(Allenby) passed out and hit his head. I was there. Nobody pushed him out of a car."

Khamis didn't actually see Allenby hurt himself because he had turned around, looking for someone on the street with a phone to call a taxi. At the time, Allenby was not injured.

"I had turned around for just a second," Khamis said. "Nobody was around us."

But when Khamis looked back at Allenby, the golfer was on the ground, bleeding.

"There he was, I was like, 'Oh, my God!'"

Either all three of the witnesses who have come forward are lying and Allenby really was the victim of a well-executed kidnapping; or the man just got really drunk, went to a strip club, lost his wallet and phone, and then passed out face-first into a rock. One of these scenarios sounds much more plausible than the other.
