I've mentioned before that I work for a major auto manufacturer and one of the perks is killer deals on lease cars. I went yesterday and replaced mine with an Audi Q3. I've been wanting to lease an SUV, but never found one at the right price until recently. Our company was offering major incentives on the Audi brand and I couldn't pass it up. It rides good, looks amazing, and I've just always wanted a digital cockpit. Figuring out the radio was a hassle, but push enough buttons and it works itself out.

  3. Most Wanted and Forum Testing are two totally different entities and really serve two different audiences. Most Wanted is to help the average consumer who usually buys off the rack without getting fit, to have an idea of what drivers performed the best over a large range of testers. Forum Testing is targeted obviously to our Forum readers who are more likely interested in details of how a particular driver worked for someone that may have similar swing DNA to them, over a period of 4-6 weeks which likely includes several rounds and range sessions. It also allows the tester to provide specific feedback on any part of the performance, versus the MW Testing where you only get a compiled amount of data from 30 some testers. Both are good and you can use info from both to make a pretty informed decision.

  5. The request was, "How do you store your clubs at home?", not "Please post a picture of the entire used club selection at 2nd Swing." As a mod, I like to see threads stay on topic.

  8. Actually our Forum Testing is the most indepth and quality testing of all forums. Thats not me saying that, it’s several OEM’s that think so. If you are talking about Forum Testing Realize that for products like Rapsodo, it’s likely the twsters don’t have another LM to compare it to. In addition we stress to the testers that the review shouldn’t be a comparison to something else of the same kind. It should focus mainly on the product and does it perform and/or do what the manufacturer claims and markets it to do. Sounds like you would find the My Golf Spy Buyers guide helpful. There are buyers guides for several products on the blogs main site.

  12. I finally was able to get out this evening and pair the Spornia and the Divot Board in a practice session. Weather has been crazy here the last couple of weeks lots of really windy and rainy days when I have time off work. That's been horrible, too. Worked today and I am scheduled to work next Saturday, too. Got to love major breakdowns. That being said, it was a good day for working on the swing. I would like to say thank you to @B.Boston for the Chris Ryan video on the 60-60-100 drill. Between that and @Tom the Golf Nut recommending the ball in front of my lead foot drill, I'm seeing improvements. I'll take that all day every day. It wasn't all perfect, I was still hitting behind some balls, but the mis-hits were better than normal. There were worse hits, but Rome wasn't built in a day. I have to remind myself that this is a process to fundamentally change patterns and work on building a foundation of a better golf swing.

Finally broke 80 at Sea ‘N Air Golf Club, which is one of my regular tracks. Played with a couple guys from work so we played from the whites, but it’s only a 300 yard difference from the blues. Had a PBFU hole that was followed by a streak of bogeys so as usual, it could’ve been better!

Finally figured it out, the controls were different from my VW. I programmed favorites and couldn't figure out how to get to them, it just works differently on this car. Finally found the "favorites" setting on the radio and I can tune to them. I hate driving to a silent car or not being able to channel hop.

Well, I did play today. Still trying to get comfortable with my golf swing changes. Hit some really good shots and some not so good ones. I didn't keep score, but I guess it was in the 80-83 range. I got in trouble with a few shots on several holes that forced punch-out/layup/recovery shots. With no competition on the line, I didn't bear down on my putting like I normally do. I was treating the day more as a day to work on the swing changes and less about score.

A real stinker today. 44/46 at Mesa Del Sol. Started with a fantastic drive on #1, leaving a perfect position 112 yards... wedge shanked right but managed to keep to a bogey. Another great drive on #2 leaving 129, shanked the 9i but managed par. From there on things just never got into a groove. Gutted my 56/12 twice with one across the green and into water. With the round already in shambles, opted to take some risks on several holes (vs. layup) and they did not work out... water, water, and oleander bush. Were it not for my putter on the back nine, things could have gotten really ugly.

  21. 55 on nine today. Not great. Played from tips for fun due to a big hitter in the group and that killed me on approach shots. Also tried to kill it more which lead to wayward drives. Had 4 penalty strokes and lost 5 strokes due to approach shots. Ugh. Super hybrid was a mixed bag. Need more off the deck practice. On flip side, big hitter in the group had an Epic Speed and that thing looked and performed beautiful. I was impressed.

  23. Oh yeah... this happened... '21 version 0211s 6i-GW with the MMT shaft in .. what's a new experiment in irons .. Senior/A flex. The Regular shaft is 70g and I was looking for something just a bit lighter, but the 60g only comes in Senior, so... we'll see... (I know, I know - get a proper fitting and stop wasting time and money "experimenting"! Agreed, but then .. I wouldn't be posting in the "Club Ho" topic ) So Mr. @Grand Stranded is partially to blame .. oops er umm .. thank .. as we'd been talking about irons and seemed to have traveled on similar paths with iron sets the past few seasons, and he seemed pretty happy with his purchase of these. Have only hit the 7i in one indoor lesson so far, and .. wow! .. these really are like 1 full club longer vs the older 0211s. Yes - the lofts are 3* stronger club-for-club but there is a distinct POP off the face on the newer ones that's gotta be extra ball speed from the impact-reactor inertia-generator energy-core whatever whatchamahcallit. And, no not sure yet if the Senior flex was the right choice; seem to be hitting more push-fades to the right vs previously. But with each lesson each week my swing evolves just a little bit so obviously need to swing each of the clubs some more and then also carve out some practice time to hit them side by side vs the older 0211s in the same session. Anyhow, really looking forward to the start of the new golfing season!!!

Was supposed to be in the 60s today, but it probably never got out of the low 50s with lots of clouds and some rain. The course was completely saturated and unless you were on a hill you were standing in casual water. Short game and putting were solid but my full swing was a mess. 41/40:81 4 fairways, 7 greens, 30 putts.

  25. We had a break in the weather today. 74 degrees and sunny. Golf course was going to open at 11:00. I didnt warm up due to some larger groups looking like they were going to head over to the first tee. Just went for it. Missed the first fairway by about 2 yards but still in OK position. 6 out of 7 faiways today. Aimed for all the bunkers to try out my new sand wedge. The Sub-70 JB wedge worked out very well even in the wet bunkers. Couple of sand saves. Unfortunately the black finish is already showing marks. Played well considering not playing for two months. Quit after 9 holes due to the high winds picking up just after I got off of hole 9. A lift clean and place round due to all the soft soil and mud. Greens were slow. Three bogies, five pars, and one birdie for a 38.

My round was a dumpster fire. One of those rounds where you start having different swings thoughts on every swing. Plus it was just muddy and yucky out.

  27. Every touring pro uses a launch monitor BECAUSE their swings are so good. They need to understand exactly what's going on each day, and small variations really aren't visible to the naked eye. You can't tell whether that 7-iron went 185 yards or 192 yards when you're standing on the practice tee. A 20-handicapper is a completely different story. The ball flight tells a decent instructor all he needs to know about impact conditions. And again, a monitor tells you absolutely nothing about the CAUSE of those impact conditions. That requires human eyes and training and experience, and can be assisted by video. This sounds to me like you don't want to make any significant changes, even if significant changes are required for you to keep progressing. Tweaking and grooving poor mechanics can definitely lead to improving scores, but you'll most likely hit a hard ceiling at some point.

Good planning on the different work zones for you and your Dad!! I've been getting a lot of small mudding repair side jobs lately since they are too small for the real drywall guys to want to bother with. Mostly seams or corners that cracked they want repaired prior to a repaint but there was one where the guy put his foot through the ceiling while in the attic. I am redoing our hallway ceiling corner joints prior to a repaint too, one more skim coat and I'll call it good.

  31. The autoflex would be nice, but I’m particularly interested in the new speeder shaft. Sik putters would be cool, or some evnrolls. I think it would be awesome to test some of the golf exercise programs out there. I think it’d be super helpful to know the people who actually tried them and if the program helped their game and overall wellness. The marketing with those makes it hard to know who to trust. Truly can’t beat the return of the CCC5. I stand by my claim from the end of CCC4, if I’m fortunate enough to be chosen, I’ll go to the cobra tour truck for the fitting! I’ll even like all of the @B.Boston memes! In all seriousness though, it was such an engaging feed last year, I hope it comes back and more tests can become that involved from a competition and non tester perspective.

  32. 1. Launch monitors are a tool in an instructor's tool box. Just like video, still images, alignment rods, etc. 2. A really good instructor will learn how an individual learns best and tailor their instruction to it. Some people might benefit from knowing their path is 5* out to in, others need to be told to hit the inside of the golf ball, still others need to hit balls with a headcover to the right of the ball. Your best method of learning might be awful for someone else. 3. All this being said, the whole point of instruction is to play better golf on the golf course. You can't bring a launch monitor with you, and you can't lay something on the ground to guide you out there. So a really good instructor should also give you a feel that you can go back to when things are going horribly wrong on the golf course. Even if you're not a "feel" player - that's all you can bring with you on the course.

My daughter's instructor taught her something similar. He had her lean to the right and touch her right knee. It's an over-exaggeration, but it works.

    Attack Angle

I’ve gone from -1.5 to +3 over the winter using my free trackman sessions from CC. 3 things I’ve been working on: 1) tee it higher: much higher than I used to. 2) Move the ball forward in my stance: a lot more forward, like past my big toe where it used to be inside of my heel. 3) Move my spine angle about 10 degrees to the right: what some people call a K stack. It added 28.4 yards to my avg drive. The downside? 1) it has moved my swing path left: say 4 degrees left from -2.4 to pushing -7 at times. This makes my shape shot a cut, and my miss a straight left pull if my face matches my path. 2) Loss of swing speed: my avg swing is only 112 now, as opposed to 117 with my older swing. 3) playability: I used to play a squeezy little cut fade that would stay around the fairway: now I club down to my 3 wood if there’s any danger on the right side. 4)Feel: I just don’t feel like I’ve caught the ball all that squarely, even when I see my ball speed pushing 169 and carrying the ball 300. Just doesn’t feel solid... Lots of unintended side effects/consequences for me from focusing on AOA... Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy

This was a very sad read. I’ve seen any number of people abnormally effected of course it’s bound to happen to athletes. My sister in law is about to die and now my cousin has Ovarian cancer which is never a good thing. One wonders if those women avoided normal doctors appointments due to a fear of COVID. 40. Today worked on the “wall drill” (minus the club). Keeping my back side connected to the wall on rotation is eye opening. Was able to do it and was really focusing on the motion. Could feel myself being forced to keep my squat down. Will continue to do this daily and hopefully translates to the range/course

  42. I'm loving it so far, impact location and ground interaction are two things I really am focused on this year and the Divot Board covers two out of three. I say that because you don't see how high on the face you hit, but a little Odor X can take care of that. It'll be good to take to the range, also. Having to hit off mats doesn't give you the feedback this does. It's pricy, but I feel it'll pay for itself in no time with better golf shots.

  44. Speaking of which... what is the market share of titanium/carbon electric trolleys in the US? Brands such as Jucad, Ticad, Kiffe, Golfquant, Galaxy Titan... IMHO, these are much nicer, lighter and sleeker than Mottocaddy, Powacaddy, Bagboy and the like... They are pricier though, starting at about EUR 1500 up to EUR 4000... would be cool to have these babies for testing

Patrick is fun to watch. His short game is absolutely incredible. It’s good for the game to have a villain on tour. I don’t care about his reputation as a “cheater”. Golf is weird in that, it’s the only sport that seems reluctant to clearly define and enforce its rules. Lots of gray areas and it’s expected of the players to police themselves. In most other sports it’s expected of players to push the rules and the governing body to rule. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Okay, hit 35 yard pitch shots with the 59 for half an hour today. I really started to get the feel of the club towards the end. Had nice control of the trajectory and had a real nice low check shot going - great spin. Pitched in on my last shot and I knew it had a chance right off the club face.
