What's the oldest golf club you own, and how old is it?

Recommended Posts

I have a Ping Anser "Karsten Co." - late 1960s vintage - that I'll play with on the practice green on occasion.

Other than that, the oldest clubs in my bag are a Hoffman forged sand wedge head from the late 1990s and Sonartec Md hybrids from 2005/2006.

How about the rest of you?

I have a set of Wilson blades from either the 40'-50's. I'll have to get them out of my Pops storage and post some pics. I have a set of Spalding persimmon 1,3,5 woods that I bought from a local pro. I'd say their from the 70's. great topic, would love to see what you guys have..... we need to post pics though....

I have an old Persimmon Orlimar Driver with a TT steel shaft made by Jesse's dad. An object of simple beauty. Not in my bag, but I can't let it go. Also have 81-85 model Hogan Directors. My all time favorite blades. Oldest club in my bag at this time is a Taylormade Rescue Fairway 19* hybrid. The first generation of that series, and, imho, still the best.

My 1963 set of Hogan IPT blades, which I still use today.

Not too old but still a goodie.... Titleist PT 'bore-thru' 3-wood with S300 Dynamic Gold. Reminds me when El Tigre was first coming on the scene and was still a Titleist player. He used to rip the living crap outta that thing!

FG-17's, very good shape except for a dime sized wearspot on the 6 iron and some macgregor PMB's...almost perfect shape considering how old they are.

I don't actually know, it either my Titleist Blades like MSaternus has, or my Maxfli's that I'm bagging along with my Cleveland 588 1 iron.

Regarding that 1 iron, I hope by bagging you mean your back-up bag.

NICE. My wear spots look more like Kennedy half dollars.

I have some really old hickory shafted irons and woods, I will endeavor to take pics and post. Perhaps someone on the boards knows a little something about these.

I...well, my Dad and I, have some old hickory shafted clubs and a couple really old putters.

One of the putters, according to my research...may be worth something. It's an old Wizard putter of some sort with weight holes drilled in it and maybe some kind of insert of some type -- it's buried in my Dad's basement and I haven't seen it in a couple of years (but it's still there).

Another old one that I have I described in the putter thread. It has no logos or writing on the head or shaft, and the grip has 3 stars and the words "putter grip." Thus I call it the Tri-Star Putter Grip.

  • 2 months later...

When I was 15 I bought a bag with three sets of clubs for $20 at a garage sale. After I walked about a mile back home with what seemed like a 500lb bag, I just dropped it off of my shoulder and the head of one of the clubs snapped off. As I was picking up the head, I noticed it looked "weird". I started pulling the clubs from the bag and realized I had an entire set of hickory shafted Spalding blades. It was the PW that broke, so I now have 2-9.

Also, in the side pouch on the bag, there was a rolled up Washington Post from the day after Pearl Harbor was attacked.
