Cedar Point Golf Club in Patuxent River, MD. That'll be awfully far for you guys so maybe I can come up that way a bit. Once I get my Odyssey, I'll let y'all get some whacks with it.

Maybe Lake Presidential would be a good half way point for all of us to meet and play ?  Sure wish I knew someone that worked there

MDGH was pulling a funny. I work for the company that manages LP and yes while i am abke fo get us a discount, i think we best wait for later in the fall or even next spring to give their renovations time to take hold.

I am really glad to see this thread gaining a bit of traction. Ultimately a Spy outing would be great, I understand that the logistics for one can be difficult, but still doable. However, but the value of this thread goes beyond the outing potential, it can be used for impromptu rounds with fellow Spies as well, for example if one has the need to fill a foursome or just wants to play a particular course where and when a fellow Spy may be available in the area. I always go back to the fact that Carolina, MDHacker and I met on a thread such as this over a decade ago and today I consider them a couple of my best and valued friends. Hopefully, though this thread I can add some Spies. I will be monitoring this thread, hopefully, my fellow area Spies as well.

I promise you this. Your first round with Wahoo, he'll have you cracking up so hard you won't notice If you shot 78 or 178!! Truly a blast and pleasure to enjoy a round with.

 

Except for the fact he ALWAYS walks away with the cash pots!! I think it's part of his strategy with the jokes. Lol

In the same neighborhood as Lake Presidential, there are the Marlton Golf Club and the Oak Creek Golf Club.   I know nothing about them, anyone familiar with them.   Also, off 301 off Central Avenue is Enterprise Golf Course.  Its been a while, but I have played it and it is a nice track.  Would love to get a round of golf in with the buds.   OBTW, may ability to win the money is greatly exaggerated. :-).

I'm game - In MD during the week, available Friday or the weekend, in NoVA.  Many courses in the vicinity - Laurel Hills, Westfields, several others within  a short commute.

I've played Marlton a few times and can say it's a fun track with a lot of elevation changes and hole variety. Can't speak to the condition as I haven't played there this year but I can say that you should stay away if it's rained recently. The course holds water like a sponge.

Not sure if any of you have ever heard of Greystone Golf course but was designed by Joe Lee the architect behind Doral. It's in Whitehall MD and I think it's pretty centrally located. I played it a couple years ago and thought it was a pretty fun track. Anyhow I'd definitely be interested in a meet up of MGS members.

Played the West course at Andrews last Friday (Unit outing - captains choice scramble) - course was in fair shape- greens really slow...  To answer, yes, I can get on, and most folks who do not have Military ID cards can show a drivers license and get into the parking lot outside the perimeter which means 20-30 yard further walk from the car to the pro shop.

Golflink.com has a lot of ads, but also some good info on courses in your area, or if you are visiting somewhere else you can plug in the name of the city or area, or zip code and it will give you a rundown and link to courses in that area.

That's great to know. As a contractor, I can't escort people on base but have friends that would love to play up there.

Very possible, as we have had some rain.  They didnt seem to have been cut that morning, and have not been rolled in a while (as evidenced by how well they held on approach shots).  Not sure what they usually run, but I had a very tough time getting myself to hit the ball hard enough - my home course greens are considerably faster.

Blue Ridge Shawdows is a very nice course and a good  challenge.   Haven't played it in many years, and I understand they have made some modifications to it, but some friends played it last year and liked it alot.

I hear you.   A friend is driving up from NC for meetings this week, and I didn't have a ton going on today, so it was a good opportunity to get to a course I really like .
