Anybody have any knowledge on spotting counterfeit scottys picked this up on Craigslist for $60 bucks and I'm curious to if its real or not?

i'm not an expert, but all the lettering looks pretty good.   There are several facebook groups that could tell you better than I.

This looks like a legit buttonback newport to me, but I'm also no expert.

 

Not standard paint fill, but that changes a lot over the years.

 

The fonts appear to be right, the initials stamped in the toe might indicate a custom order. Does the shaft have a serial # and band on it?

Might also weigh it. The fakes are usually junk metal, and won't weigh the same.

Looks like a legit Studio Style Newport to me.  Lettering is correct font and size (also an easy way to spot a fake).  The paintfill has been changed but that is not rare for a putter that is from 2006-2007.  These were very underrated putters in my opinion and for $60 you got a fantastic deal.

Good observation on the fonts as this is generally the first thing that I look at for fake vs real.  The Buttonbacks are an entirely different putter all together and the retail models had a terrylium insert in them if I remember correctly.  I also don't recall if these had a serial number on them or not but can look at mine when I get home.  I have a Newport 1.5 that I ordered directly from Titleist when these came out.

That was my biggest concern was that the shaft did not have a serial number!!

Checked mine tonight and it does not have a serial number on the band or the shaft.
