The amount of times I check this forum only to end up on a retail site is alarming and dangerous.

I JUST got new shoes but somehow I need a BOA pair immediately.

I think you are in the right place…we are here for you!

If it helps I just purchased another pair of Puma’s with the BOA system. Sometime the want is greater than the need.

Just got my first pair of Adidas with BOA; have only had them out for one round so far.

Likes...

  • Easy on, super quick and easy off
  • Quick and easy adjustment mid-round

Dislikes...

  • Usually.. with laces .. I like to keep the forefoot looser than the arch and heel
  • Might be just first time break-in but these kept loosening on me as I was playing (but otoh just a quick twist to adjust)

On this particular model - nothing to do with the BOA mechanism - but the tongue could be wider .. it kept slipping out from under the sneaker itself and I could feel the edge pushing on the top of my arch (again otoh easy to adjust and fix).

So whether this is first & last, or first of many more, for me is TBD

See I've been on this puma kick recently and when you mentioned they had a pair I was quick to the search!

It's my birthday soon .. I think the wife will be fine with buying me a pair.

I look for the sock type insert rather than the separate tongue. This eliminates any potential for shifting. You can see that in the photo above.

Since this is an ongoing topic,  I probably won't be doing an unofficial review of the skechers twist (boa style)  waterproof golf shoes, unless requested.

What I will.say is that I spent ALL Day on my feet wearing them, and have zero fatigue in my feet, ankles, or calves.  MInd you, these have hard spikes in the soles, and the soles themselves are pretty firm as well.

Only had to twist them tighter one time, after the first 15 minutes of wearing them.

I have 2 concerns though.   First is the material the upper is made of feels and acts like molded vinyl. Creases have developed in the toe box/flex area. If there is ever a waterpoof concern,  it will be there.

Secondly, I wish they had used grommets instead of sewn loops. This is where I fear a failure will occur first.

Only time will tell...

Just an update, the shoes still perform really well, and are super comfortable,  and waterproofing is fantastic (as yesterday's round had alot of ground water opportunities)

I have found my first issue. Was hitting from a greenside drop off about 30 yards lower than the green.  Climbing up the hill, my shoes started slipping off the heel. Stopped and tightened the Boa as much as possible. 3 steps later, the left shoe slipped off from the heel again.

The Boa system did not release its lock, as when I got to the too, it was still tight.

So if you have steep slopes, these may not be the best for ascending them.  Other than that, they are great!

Since my last post, I got a pair of Adidas ZG23 BOA shoes and a pair of laced Puma Proadapt Alphacat shoes to go with the same Sqairz Arrows.  I rotate all three pairs during the week.  Of the three, I do like the Adidas BOA shoes as my right and left foot are slightly a different size.  The Sqairz do seem to provide good stability and the Puma are lightweight and fit well.  For my tied shoes, I have to say I like the Sqairz silicone knub laces.  They tend to stay tied better.
