My First Club Build

The day has arrived!  The limited edition Toura Diamond Design 1/1 has shown up and talk about impressive!

The packaging on these clubheads are top notch. it came with a certificate card that shows 1 of 1 for the design. 

Each iron is individually wrapped in bubble wrap and then placed inside its own pouch.  

On Toura's website you have the option to have built clubs and not sure how they ship those but my guess would be something similar after seeing the care they took in sending these.

And now the reason you have kept reading this far along.....  the heads.  These things are slick and look even better than they did on the website!  Almost too nice to hit once this build is complete.

My plan is to build this set with Star Bright Pink grips and matching ferrules. I will be ordering the custom KBS Tour black pearl shafts in regular 110.  They are slightly heavier than my current iron shafts but have talked to KBS and think it will be fine. 

As a first time builder, any help or advice is welcomed.  I still need to purchase the shims and epoxy for the build and I am looking forward to this learning process.

Are those the BB&F Miami Vice ferrules? Very bright with those pink grips.

I am not one to shy away from being bold!  Plus when you let the wife and kiddos help pick stuff out and are allowed to make the extra purchase, things happen. Haha.

I hear ya. My next project (likely Maltby TS1 IM) will be with the red/white/blue ferrules and half red/white and half blue/white MCC+4 grips. Not as bold as you, but something a bit patriotic. Especially as they would live in my C130 'Merica bag.

The other nice thing with these clubs are the lofts are basically the same as my Srixons so the new wedges will blend perfectly.

Thanks to @Bobbers for giving me some advice and sending out some shafting beads for the build!

I had a great talk with one of the builders at GG and he walked me through a few questions I had and also gave me some shims for the build.

Everything is on the way and I am patiently waiting..... ok, ok, I look at tracking daily.

The only thing that I currently don't have is a swing weight scale but have watched some videos on how to do it without a scale.  I also may end up going to a course up the road that has one, if I can talk the guy into letting me use it.

That is going to be an amazing build.  You say you have everything, does that include tip weights? 

I always dry fit everything first including blowing on the grips before gluing and taping anything down.  I also do not use the tour epoxy when building a set so I have more time to fiddle, and can mix a larger batch.  You will leave things to cure overnight anyway.

I still need tip weights and I found access to a swing weight scale now so I plan on ordering the weights. I just got notice that the shafts are ready to ship out so it should prob show up early next week.

That's great.  I usually just tape the grip on the shaft when measuring SW instead of blowing it on to measure.  Also, if you do not have a chop saw to cut the butt of the shafts, a pipe cutting tool works great.  I still use mine when I am too lazy to setup my chop saw to cut 1 shaft.

Yeah same here!  I am going to have to do swing weight on a scale and the online calculator for SW.

I’m not looking to build my own set anytime soon, although I’m tempted now to build a set of these beauties, but these pics make me want to get some custom ferrules for my irons. Maybe add that to my list of things to look into next fall.

I know!  I already want to switch mine out on the Srixons.
