Undershooter
Played mediocre today. Long story short, I had to get up and down from 20 ish yards to win an extra 1k. I didn't know any of this at the time but had a sneaking suspicion. Hit lob wedge instead of a bump and run gw and left myself about 8 feet bc it checked up. I lipped it out to make par. Nunfa0
Played really poorly. The round got off to a bad start when the morning field was running 30 minutes behind. We were supposed to tee off at 12.28, got away at 1pm. It's getting dark just after 5, so we weren't sure if we would finish. Drove the ball well but couldn't capitalise on it, putted relatively poorly, 2 x 3 putts were more a result of poor shots into the green, but missed a few I would normally make. I went to a memorial service yesterday for a family friend who was one of the best individuals I've had the pleasure of knowing. I moved to Melbourne when I was 18 to go to University, 3 hours away from home. I lived rent free in the house he owned next door to his. My brothers and I had 5 years of free rent between us. I also worked for him on weekends, as a labourer on demolition jobs. He ran a medium sized demolition business. He used to paint "Albert is here" on all his demolition sites. He was the most generous person I know, and never had any hint of patronising those he was generous to. He was a very keen and solid golfer. Played off single figures into his 70's and beat his age several times. Today I decided to mark my ball a little differently as a mark of respect. A bit sad my game didn't do him justice. RIP Albert. Nunfa0
Ok guys, one of my goals was to break 80 at least once. If I did it this season my second goal was to do it 3 times. I played yesterday and today... Image1527978338.295159.jpg I had a putt on 18 to break 80... I missed. I had 2 doubles due to not knowing the course/ looking at my phone (I'm a dummy) and hit into two hazards blind. But I still had a chance and missed it... Yesterday I hit it way better than I did today and had a chance for 4 birdies in a row and both lipped out (still loving this MLA though). Why can't I break it!!!!!!!!!!!!!? I missed a 5 ft eagle putt after driving the green on 15 too... I feel like I need to rage. Image1527978470.367160.jpg Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy Mate you've got this!! PING Apologist #9
Played a 3 vs. 2 scramble yesterday and kinda had a sporadic day, but felt I played much better than the bloodbath of this past Monday. Driver was pretty solid all day, but many of my long approach tries were s***. Pitching and chipping were both on and putting was working too. I made a natural net-birdie (my second ever) on a par-3 where my tee shot wound up about 7' from the hole... Made a medium-length par putt at another and generally contributed to my team's "come-from-behind" 2-stroke win! Berg Ryman
Got in my third round of the year a bit ago. Played out of my gourd for a long time, 37-39 for a nice little 76 that could have been a bit better. Round highlights were the hole out Eagle from 65 yards on 4, the wedge to 3 feet to setup birdie on par 3 6, Scrambling par including a shot through tree window to greenside rough from 169, the mammoth drive almost in the pond and then little 30 yard pitch for birdie at 15 and two awesome closing shots to get up a par on the last for 76. Best round of our fivesome by 10 shots, won three of seven skins while giving up a multitude of handicap strokes. Sadly, the skins totaled $10.50 and I wasn't in the money match because I was the fifth wheel. In all, solid. Jmikecpa
Played an event today at Trump Bedminster. Got to play the Old course and it was one hell of a track. Was able to cobble together 18 solid holes for the first time in a few weeks. Started solid with a nice drive on 13 (our first hole) and a PW from 138 to an inch. Was able to build on that for the rest of the round and we shot a -8 64 as a team. Not sure where we placed because I left to drive back up to the Catskills when we finished our round. Liked the new irons in the bag and a change to a center shafted mallet was good for the stroke. As a plus I missed one fairway all day and that was on a drivable par 4 that rolled over the back right of the green into a green side bunker. GeekingGolf
Played Windy Harbor GC on Naval Station Mayport on Sunday and shot my best round of the year...84. I used the 18birdies app for the first time. I hit way more greens than usual, missed a bunch of birdie putts like edge of the hole misses. I was using a Scotty Cameron Futura Phantom 2 center shafted mallet and putted better than normal. I missed a lot of drives to the right but hit one into the group ahead at 303 yards...didn't carry it any further than normal just downwind and slightly downhill. The course was wet from rain the day before and actually spun my Chrome Soft X about 10 feet back with a wedge on a Par 5. All in all pretty good round. GolfSpy_APH
Finally put together a solid all around round yesterday morning. Played the first 12 holes at even par with 3 birdies and 3 bogies which were all on the silly side. Then had a few just loose shots and some iffy putts and got around to a 75. My best score here at Lost Creek and was awesome to see the arccos system working well. After that went to a course for a tournament practice round and shot a 85 which all things considered I was happy with..greens were incredibly quick and small so it was a decent round and I learned what I needed to going into the weekend Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk Rickp, PING Apologist #9, MattF and 1 other 4 Quote as of Oct 5, 2024 (Past WITB) Driver: GT2 with Graphite Design AD CQ - check out the Driver Shootout! Rickp
41-43=84. Started this morning with no wind at all and the Snell Reds and everything was fine out side of some of my normal stupid play. Just B4 Mid round the wind picked up quite a bit and the Reds were coming up short and had some bad holes. Switched to another ball brand and things were coming back . Obviously the wind did in fact affect the second ball but no where near as much. I'm thinking I selected the incorrect ball, the Blacks May be a better choice for me. Note: the durability of the Red outstanding. Rickp
Somehow we got 18 holes in. Windy and rain squalls for most of the morning. I had 41-42=83 pretty good for conditions. Played ProV1. Dragged out the SC200 LM. Entire 4-some early 70's years old. Swing Speeds on hole #2 went from 78 to 86. Mine was 85 smash factor 1.47. PING Apologist #9
Now gotta figure out what this means and how we can use it to improve. One of my thoughts is should I be using Senior shafts? Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy I am definitely not an expert on this, but I have learned (and am learning) a great deal about this and other subjects. But I believe you may be onto something there. Certainly worth a "look-see" since speeds of that nature seem to demand a more flexible shaft...IMHO anyway. I believe I should qualify this by saying. Not all 85 mph swing speeds are the same. So much more in the swing such as your transition from the top to beginning the down swing and such. That said. I think averaged 85 mph on my drivers this week at TXG and was ultimateky fit into a Regular flex. If it's possible I would get to a good fitter and see what he has to say.
