GP Reverse Taper Putter Grip

I signed up for GP early release of this new grip and it just arrived  late this afternoon. I've been thinking of upgrading the pistol grip on my Zebra putter since it's starting to show some wear so why not experiment with something new. 

I'm putting grips on tomorrow in prep for our Monday Men's 18, and I'll have more pics, but I thought in the meantime you might be interested in seeing it. I have it next to a SS 1.0 Traxon to give you a comparison to the Reverse Taper (large size pistol grip). Yes, that SS grip is a bit sad looking but it's on my old Odyssey which is retired. The Large size is approximately the same diameter as the 1.0 and the same length but is a bit more contoured and a bit softer feel. More pics to come after the install.

Like this reverse taper idea alot!  Very interesting and will be curious how it "plays out" for you.  Are there any characteristics about it that you think will improve fumction?

Thanks for sharing. I have been looking for a  larger grip for my putter and I like the shape. I need to check it out

I ordered one today. Should arrive on on Monday. I got the reverse taper round large size.

Best intentions got sidetracked today (with a brand new SM10) when I was swapping out grips. Here's the only pic I took of the new grip. More details to come after my round tomorrow.

I love the idea...and while some may disagree, I've always believed that the top hand controls the stroke...reduced taper to allow for better feel up top could theoretically offer a significant benefit for some.

If L.A.B. offered something like this I would buy it in a minute.

Interesting idea…try to use a little tighter grip with my top hand and then looser with the bottom, this seems to be an attempt to help with that.

Rob, I tend to apply too much grip pressure especially on days I'm not putting well. I'm replacing a standard size pistol grip and my thought is that it may help me be more cognizant of that pressure. As an FYI, my stand grip arrangement for all of my long clubs is mid-size with 3 layers of tape wedges are 3 1/2 layers.

Let us know how it works for you. I pre-ordered the large pistol and it arrived late last week. I ordered it when I was struggling with the putter but have been putting much better lately. Now I'm not sure if I want to swap it out or not.

It definitely worked well yesterday, but I can't tell if it's a mental or functional 'thing', however, the contour definitely feels better in my hands.

Mine arrived around noon today. I installed it a few minutes ago. I got all technical. Squared the club face in the vice with a machinist square. Then installed the grip and put a digital level across the grips flat. I got that to 0.1 degrees level and square to the club face. 
So now’s it’s up to the Indian not the arrow. Rolled some putts on my 10’ Odyssey mat. All systems go. 
I thought it would feel much different but it was easy to get used to.

But boy is this a tough grip to get on. It states not to use air. So I did it the conventional way. I lubed the heck out of it with grip solvent and it was still a bugger. Now I know why they were cutting it off during trials. Can’t wait to get out on a course with it.
