A few days earlier, bought the Hulk for the exact same reason, not knowing Luigi would come next (the 5yo prefers Spiderman, but that cover looked a bit rough for his age -- did buy the Spidey ball marker for him, so he can settle for that). Don't remember if I shared these when they came in, but here's the new ones plus a couple past HFL purchases - Yoshi and Mikey are hybrids (I don't have a hybrid... So why did I buy them? Oh right, hoes don't discriminate). I'm curious if HFL is actually paying for the rights to put those characters on head covers, or if they're just hoping to fly under the radar. Yea, it's hard to say, but they're definitely not alone in this space. Many of the cover / accessory companies claim things like "artistic representation" or "tribute", but who knows where the actual line is drawn between direct character vs. artistic/tribute, especially when they look pretty authentic like this (HFL is also in the UK, where things could be different?). Based on what I've seen, often the licensed ones tend to be higher production and need the actual designs approved, or so I've heard from some official partnerships at similar companies (not meaning mass-produced, but like 300 rather than 30); the lower production ones seem like they're often unlicensed, but also tend to have more creative designs. Other popular/formerly popular brands that do similar things: American Flatsticks -- not a plug for them, definitely don't recommend them these days. But they claim that it's artistic representation directly in their descriptions (their Yoshi looks similarly authentic to HFL's). They've done Sesame Street, Dr. Seuss, Mario, South Park, lots of others. Rocket (formerly Hole9Design) - not so much since they rebranded, but as H9, they had TMNT, Snoopy, etc., all pretty direct representations. Swag - they used to knock competitors for not getting licenses when Swag did. They also might hold licenses for everything, but I'm basing it on what's in their listings. Their listings for WWE, KoolAid, and Topps/Garbage Pail Kids all say officially licensed, but the NES-themed covers don't say anything (except Street Fighter - they had a Capcom partnership for those). That includes some that look identical to the original games, like one of Mario on top of the flag in the original NES Mario game; others are clearly adapted toward their brand but still represent the characters in some way (like their skull logo dressed as the 1-up mushroom). Hatch (formerly Blue Birdie) does it a bit too, but nearly all of theirs are more clearly "based on", but not directly representing, the characters (like their old Toy Story covers are mostly based on the character outfits without showing the character directly, or their egg logo dressed to look like the Ninja Turtles). Popular Post Burton29
I recently embarked on a quest for the perfect driver, starting with Golftown in Calgary, AB. Now, hold your horses before you start waving those pitchforks; I know Golftown isn't the holy grail of fittings. But hey, I'm no newbie – I can crunch numbers and dissect data like a pro. With a solid background in building and a tech-savvy mindset, I figured I had this covered. However, reality hit hard – nothing quite matched up to my current driver during the Golftown tests. The data was eerily similar, and the "fitter" seemed as lost as a ball in tall grass. Yet, amidst the sea of disappointment, the Ping G430 Max and the Titleist TSr2 showed some promise. They weren't blowing my beloved Callaway Epic Flash SZ out of the water, though. Sure, maybe the dispersion was slightly better, but shelling out over $900 Canadian for a driver that didn't scream "upgrade"? Nah, not for me. Enter my hero – my dad. He offered to grease the wheels of my driver purchase. So, off I trotted to Modern Golf. Now, I've been down this road before when I got fitted for my trusty Mizuno 223 irons, and they're still doing me proud. Now, before I spill the beans on my Modern Golf driver fitting experience, let's address the elephant in the room – indoor spin numbers. Yeah, even with those fancy Titleist RCT balls, they ain't as accurate as the GCQuad I was spoiled with at Golftown. But hey, let's roll with it. So, let's spill the beans on my Modern Golf driver fitting adventure. Cue the drumroll, folks! As soon as I stepped into the fitting bay, I noticed something different – more dramatic spin numbers, especially with the Cobra offerings. Now, here's the kicker: I hadn't swung any Cobra drivers at Golftown. The lineup at both spots consisted of the Callaway AI Smoke Max, Ping G430 Max 10K, and Taylormade Qi10 Max. And surprise, surprise – none of them were exactly spiking my spin numbers. But then, enter the Cobra Darkspeed X (and Max) – suddenly, we're talking serious spin. The LinQ Blue shaft also just had a fantastic feel. I could feel it load and was working well with my swing. Now, you might be wondering, "Why the heck was this guy after more spin?" Well, let me break it down for you. My trusty Callaway Epic Flash SZ had my spin numbers chilling below 2000RPMs. Now, with a clubhead speed just shy of 100MPH, I had this nagging feeling that I was leaving some small carry yardage on the table So yeah, I was on a mission – more spin, more distance, more birdies. Let's do this! And now, for the grand finale of my driver fitting saga! Enter the hero of the day – the Cobra Darkspeed X. This bad boy was delivering a few extra MPH of ballspeed and packing on roughly 5-8 extra yards of carry distance. Talk about love at first swing! But hey, I'm not settling for "just enough" – I'm shooting for the stars here. Now, let's address the elephant on the fairway – my poor aching bones and back weren't exactly in tip-top shape on fitting day. And to add insult to injury, my clubhead speed and ballspeed numbers weren't quite hitting their usual peak. Curse you, chilly Alberta springs! But fear not, dear readers, for this is just the beginning of my quest for the ultimate driver. With the Cobra Darkspeed X showing some serious promise, I'm strapping in for the ride of my golfing life. Watch out, fairways – here I come! hoppman, MDGolfHacker, cksurfdude and 11 others 11 2 1 Quote http://www.gripgarage.ca

Eltrain41
Just picked up the Perfect Practice Mat XL, 15' range...the one w/ Dustin Johnson you've seen before. It's a bit thinner than I'd prefer so it can take on the little bit of a slope in your house. I'm rolling it on thin carpet and finding very minor inconsistencies for long range putts but I got it primarily to just dial in the 5-8' putts. And for that, it's been amazing. Just like knocking down free throws, I've hit 500 5-footers this past month and it's become routine. It has translated to the course as well. I stop thinking so much on the course and just get up and hit 'em straight in, with some force. So in a way, it's helped me 1-3 strokes per round already. It has a ramp so the ball will roll back to where you are, which is great. Again, wish the matt was a little thicker but overall it's a great pickup and has sizing options depending on how much room you have. Working at home, I use this thing every 1-2 hours just to get up and walk around....and knock down some putts. Indy_Oz
Renewed my '7-Wood Mafia' membership, as my new-to-me Titleist TSR2 7W with Tensei AV White 75 X-stiff shaft arrived. Same shaft model, weight and flex as my TSR2 3-wood. It replaces a Callaway Rogue ST Max 7W with Tensei AV Blue 65 S shaft. I wanted something with stiffer and heavier shaft to match the 3W feel and weight. I'm going to try hitting a few balls tomorrow and see how the muscle strain recovery is really going. A few swings with the TSR2 in the back yard felt ok, so fingers crossed I don't aggravate it. Once I've confirmed this is the right 7W choice, it'll get the Rogue's spot in the bag. Can't wait to give it a hit. I know someone in the forum said to message them when I sell the Rogue 7W.
