We have several friends that have gone vegan and swear by it, including one who is a ER doc. Pre covid, they even went on vegan cruises which were both a lecture series and of course the food.

I can't remember the last time I had steak. However, I do like an occasional hamburger along with chicken and especially turkey so I'm not a candidate for a vegan diet.

I know what you mean. I think I’m too old and sent in my way to switch. It’s interesting but sure like my steak, brisket, ribs etc.

Wife had brought it up initially this past week. We had gone semi vegan about 2 years ago and. I had felt my best then. Been feeling eh since around June. A lot to do with just not exercising I think as much with work being pretty busy and the gym at work closing. Think this could jump start me and I love having smoothies for breakfast/lunch just need to get back on it I think.

Not a huge fish person/seafood in general. Will eat it occasionally but not my go to.

Yeah, I really only like Halibut... which sucks because it’s stupid expensive and not fresh on the east coast.  I don’t do crab or other crunchy types of things.  Shrimp... yeah.

We did the Paleo thing for a year, but I got sick of cauliflower pizza and bunless burgers.  Pizza needs real crust. 😂

We are trying to find an economical way to  add some healthier stuff, not that we eat junk, but it could be better. Locally sourced meat and all that, I just hate buying vegetables at the grocery store from who knows where.

Not directed at you specifically,  but vegan does not necessarily equate to healthy.  My sister-in-law has been vegan for 20+ years and we eat dinner with her quite often and my wife cooks a lot of vegan food so she will have something to eat at get togethers.  Many cakes can be made vegan,  oreo's are technically vegan (some may consider them vegan due to possible cross contamination or because they contain palm oil).   You don't have to become vegan or vegetarian to eat healthy,  it is all about food choices......something which I personally am very bad at doing 😂

We have a few local farm shares which are pretty awesome. Always getting local vegetables and whatever is in season, could be something to look into if there are any around you

Right I think vegan in this aspect is misconstrued I should have said “plant based diet” or “clean eating”.

That reminds me. For many non-asian people, they think of tofu as a vegetarian/vegan dish, which is true in of itself. But then people ask me, why does your tofu dish have pork with it. My question is why wouldn't it have pork in it lol.

Makes sense to me. Two of our good friends in FL are Japanese Heritage and I’ve tried some interesting food items that I have no idea what it was but definitely good.

You should check out Deems Tsutakawa at  deemsmusic.com.  He lives in Seattle and plays smooth jazz piano at local establishments in the area.  He's an avid golfer, and my wife and I play golf with Deems and his wife along with several friends most every year; didn't this year because of COVID.  😥 They prepare some fabulous food.

While we were playing with him at Jefferson Park in 2006, he mentioned that another couple that was playing in our several foursomes asked Deems to perform their upcoming wedding; he thought they meant the music, but they wanted him to perform the actual ceremony.  Deems had gotten his minister's license from what he called "the church of the ufo" out of Pasco for tax purposes.  We told him if that worked out, would he perform our wedding?  He and his wife drove over from Seattle and he performed our wedding on the 1st tee of our golf course in April 2007.
