Driving/Utility Irons

I play irons that are +1” and 2 degrees up. I’m looking to get a utility iron, should I follow these specs with a graphite hybrid shaft?

There is no standard length or lie angle so generically saying +1" and 2 degrees up may or may not be right for the club you choose.   Are your driver/woods/hybrids "+1” and 2 degrees up"?    Best option is hit the club and see what accomplishes your gapping and distance goal.  If you don't want to hit something,  your guess is as good as ours.

The old days of graphite shafts being longer than steel are gone. Predominately all manufacturers are making irons the same length whether graphite or steel.

Now when it comes to hybrids and woods what one does with irons may not translate into those categories. Hybrids are already longer than the iron they replace. Then there’s lie angles that are typically different as well as weight.

Unless you get fit for your clubs the only way to know if you should do the same in hybrids as irons is to test it. We can’t tell you how they will feel or what results you will have either way because there are so many variables that differ between each of us to include how things feel and how those feelings translate into how you swing.

Everyone comes looking for an answer on what shaft, what length, what loft, what head, what brand in hopes to get a single answer or a better idea. Unfortunately it’s not possible to get a single answer or anything other than a guess based on personal experience. There’s two ways, get fit ir blind buy and test.

Things to consider. What are you trying to achieve from the club. Pure distance, distance control, a certain yardage/gap, how does the club feel when you swing it and if it’s not right then try a different shaft or shaft weight. If the distance or ball flight isn’t what you want change loft and if that changes how the club looks and it’s not to your liking then change clubs for a different static loft

It also comes down to what you're looking to get out of the club. You say driving/utility iron. I know plenty of people who use longer/shorter clubs for their tee clubs depending on if they want a little more club speed, control, etc.

Rag tag bag, but it does the job.

Taylormade R1 driver.

Ping G400 3 wood.

Cleveland Halo Launcher 3 hybrid.

Cleveland CBX launcher irons (5-PW).

Assorted wedges (48, 52, 58).

Odyssey White Hot Pro 2.0 putter.
