The Good Morning Thread

Good morning all!

Weekend was good. Wife went to visit her brother as he was having a bit of a tough week. Kids and I decided to get out and about Sunday with some time at the playground and then we went to our local science center which was a blast and very cool as they only house animals that could not survive in the wild, such as the owl they had a show with that had an injured wing.

Otherwise just did some house work and enjoyed the beautiful cool weather.

@Erin B I hope your daughter is well. Our neighbors daughter had a bad concussion last year and the recovery can be slow so hopefully she continues to make a quick and full recovery.

Also hope everyone is safe from hurricane Helene

Have a great Monday everyone!

Good morning, Spies and happy Monday!

I hope everyone is doing well. I have been very heads down with housework and actual work the last couple of weeks. I was able to get our daughters new room done and her moved up there which *Knock on wood* has been a success. I also got our front door painted, after 5 years of pushing it off. I think my neighbors are the happiest about that. for the Forum I've been mainly focused on the Skytrak+ test for most of my content intake. I'm hoping to catch up on some of the other testing threads and recent content this week.

Short week for me. I'm off Friday for a pre family tournament practice round with the tournament round on Saturday. Looking forward to the group I'm playing with and hoping for some solid weather.

Have a great week everyone!

Good Morning All!

I am sitting in the Denver airport after a 7 hour flight from Kona Hawaii. I spent the last 7 days there and got to play some golf while there. We played the usual course (that we have played for the past couple of years), Kona Country Club right on the shore however, the greens were terrible. This happened last year too. They punched them only a day before we arrived last year. This year I called and it was 14 days prior to our arrival but they were too sandy and rough - not smooth at all. We decided not to go back and instead tried Makani Golf Club (Public) about 11 miles away. Super glad we did. Amazing course up in the hills. It was cooler, breezy and the layout was amazing. That is my new favorite course. Played from the member tees and shot 84 first time out. With notes taken and lessons learned, would probably do much better next year there. Here are a few on course pics.

IMG_6332.jpeg.5c5b67d6c06b2b3f361c246fc24a3e5c.jpegIMG_6329.jpeg.dc22a5e9b75e5670eb2d3696be1f30a0.jpegIMG_6324.jpeg.bd7ca3526f709786d05d61c99d01b233.jpeg

We visited the volcano however, it rained all night so no night photos. The thermal camera I brought only showed a few hot spots and nothing glowing. Good trip overall but glad to be headed home too, Will be back home by 4pm today.

I smartly took this week off also to get re-acclimated (6 hour time difference). But also, I intend to get out and play a few rounds this week in the cooler temps at home. While Hawaii is amazing, it is hot and humid on the big island of Kona. So, early day golf is a must. Home is in the 70s so perfect for playing this week.

I hope everyone has a wonderful week!

Cheers! ⛳

Denver!!! Just right down the road!

I could play golf every day and learn something new each time.

Good morning spies! Well the heat is refusing to let go here in Mesa. Another week of excessive heat warnings to go with 6 days in a row of records being broken. I didn't play the  exec course yesterday, instead went for a 37 mile bike ride. It has been a while since I took the e-bike out on the urban trails. Yesterday of course was football on tv day so the trails were empty of bikers and walkers. The 105 degree temperature might have had something to do with that as well.

@ZoonORama Beautiful course pictures. Jet lag stinks. I worked in Algeria and my flights were from central Oregon to Seattle. Seattle to London UK and then to north Africa. 8 hour time difference. 28 day at work, 28 days off, but the two days of travel both ways came off of my time off. Coming home wasn't that hard (going west) going to work was difficult. Really hosed up my circadian rhythm.

Oh boy, now that I have had my first cup of coffee I get to start my morning by calling Sirius XM and cancelling my service. It will go something like this....

"Good morning here is my radio number I need to cancel my service."

"Ah, okay can you tell me why?"

"Sure, I have had sxm in my vehicle for the last couple of years at 5 dollars a month. Next month you are raising my rates to 24 dollars a month. So unless you are going to give me 5 dollars a month for next year please cancel"

At this point in time the person at the other end of the phone will go into a long rehearsed speech about sxm and I will cut them off and ask are you offering 5 dollars a month? To which they will say no and I will answer canel.

We will go through this little circus 8 to 10 times before the person at the other end of my phone relents and cancels my service. In 3 to 4 months I will receive a letter from sxm telling me they want me back for 5 dollars a month...

Silly game but it works.

We got lucky at the Casa, but other parts of NC were very much unlucky. Massive flooding, many thousands of people without power, and at least 42 deaths, and they expect that number to continue to rise. I have worked in the Asheville area in the past, and that was where much of the devastation occurred. Overall, more than 100 confirmed fatalities. You can't even get to Asheville by road; storm damage has isolated the city due to landslides or just washing out the road.

Terrible. Glad you’re ok!

Good morning! I finished a big project last week and sent it off for review. So this week I’m catching up on things that I pushed back a bit to finish the higher priority project. It’ll be a busy day, but nice to be caught up on things.
I have golf on the schedule 3 days this week, so hopefully the weather is nice and the people I’m planning to get out with don’t cancel on me!
This morning I put a JumboMax grip on my old 58* wedge (see the JMX Users Group thread for more info). I’m going to test out the grip on the wedge based on others feedback in the JMX Users Group thread.
Have a goood day everyone!

Very interested in the JMX review so I just followed the thread.  Will read it later today.

Ugh. One thing about concussions is once you've had one, it's easier to get another one (ask Troy Aikman about that; it forced him out of the NFL after his 10th). If she gets another one, it might be time for her to reassess her passion. Fortunately I haven't had any more blows to the head in the last four decades.

My brother-in-law used to live in Asheville (now he lives east of Lake Norman) and he has kept me updated. He sent me some of the before and after photos from the Asheville area and it looks terrible! Awful to hear/read about the death count rising. There's going to be a long road to recovery in that area.

@Josh Parker I'd be interested to know if the jumbomax grip changes the swing weight of the clubs?  I had put a jumbomax 50 gra- grip on my driver.  The swing weight changed from D2 to C9.

There is only a 4g difference in grips. I play gp tour cord currently on the PXGs. 54.5g and the JM are 60g

It's primarily why I chose these jumbomax is that they are almost the same weight.

Thanks @sirchunksalot, we dodged a bullet in the eastern part of Orange County.  The Western part did experience power outages.  My niece said we never lost power however, the winds were about 60 to 75 mph at times and not much rain.  It was one big storm.  Our last cruise stop was changed from Bimini Island to Nassau, because of the weather.

There's going to be a long road to recovery in that area.

Boone NC, which is about 95 miles northeast of Asheville, also got hit hard. GF loves it up around Boone and I have booked a cabin in that area for her birthday in January. Hoping the cabin and surrounding areas got out relatively unscathed.

Obsessed with chasing the dimpled orb.

Good Morning Spies!

I hope everyone is having a great start to the week.

After a few lacklustre rounds I am hoping to turn it around later this week.

Enjoying the Top 50 drivers of all time list.  Lots of interesting old drivers I forgot I once owned.  Or still have buried in the garage.

Hoping that those suffering from the devastating effects of Helene are on the road to recovering from this tragedy.

When you say homebrew, do you mean beer or coffee? Or both?

Beer. Been judging for about 7 years. Great time.
